Ok Wise Guys I see you. Ever since Chelsea's closed down I've been on the hunt for another option. Luckily for me, the Grapevine edit had a pizza poll on their Instagram stories for all to see and so therefore Wise Guys was my first choice. Ok so honestly their menu is different and not what I'm use to. I'm from the land of pizza NJ/NY. You have thin crust, then a thick crust, GF crust and a cauliflower. They definitely have options which I can really appreciate. I opted for just a plain cheese, some garlic knots and two of our own creations. The garlic knots were not good. I think someone forgot the garlic and parm(pic to follow) sad face. But you guys I made a pepperoni with jalapeños and garlic sauce. Bomb! You need to try that. On thin crust. My son made a crazy personal pizza with bacon,ham,pineapple and a bunch of other weird stuff and loved it. Took my Dad and Sister they were craving Italian food . We walked in and the sign said seat yourself so we found a comfortable table for four . They're are plenty of booths available if you want to get a little cozy . We were greeted by a less than enthusiastic waitress but the fact that she had garlic knots which are "on the house" and marinara made up for it as we were famished . Atmosphere is cozy and comfortable and smells of garlic and bread which gets your taste buds watering . I decided to get the meatballs and marinara and a Caesar salad . My Dad and sister went for the chicken fettuccine alfredo. The food was fabulous and hot when it arrived. I particularly like the flavor of their marinara it's a tangy tomatoe and very fresh . If you love having unique, various toppings on your pizza, this is your place! There are multiple different combos to choose from or you can just build your own. If you're indecisive like me, you could even ask for half and half pizza so you can try two different types for the price of one (the more expensive type is charged). There's a special online for buy one large get one medium half off so I gave that a try since it's a pretty good deal. I've tried almost every pizza on the menu. The worst pizza. Ever. Bar none. It was reheated or a left over or something and so chewy, my jaw was sore. we only had one piece of the medium and yet when we talked to management we still paid 22.00 for a pizza we did returned and did not eat. Received a very small discount. Manager is extremely nice, but unfortunately, ineffective. We should have known when we received a Basket of day old garlic knots that were also too chewy to eat and hard. Like when I try to reheat old bread in a microwave at home? I assume because we came in at 3:30p and our food was prepared by someone who was about to leave for the day, that is part of the reason the food was so bad? I am very disappointed in having had to pay 20 bucks for 2 slices of pizza and a drink. We did, however get a free appetizer card. Lol. Never again. I mean. Wanted some pizza, so a quick Yelp check lead us to very nearby Wise Guys in Grapevine. Heck yeah it did!!! Goat Cheese Marinara was so great. Spicy Italian bread toasts with cheese melted on top. And warm goat cheese with great marinara. It is HUGE. Tried the Chicago Joe on the Thick Crust. Great combo of Italian meat toppings and pepperoncinis that really stand up to these amazing meats. The capicola was thick slice and do tasty. This is a great pizza combo. Such. Good. Pizza! Service was quick and the servers did a good job helping each other out. Finally had a chance to try out Wise Guys. It's been on my "list" for a while, and tonight (Friday, New Years Eve, Eve) was the night. The place was hoping, and rather than wait for an indoor table, we settled on the sealed up and heated, with patio heaters, patio. It was a little chilly, but I preferred that to the noisier interior seating. It was perfect, especially with our eventual pizza choice. Looking over the menu, there are a lot of pizza options - both NEAPOLITAN (thin crust, about 10) and SPECIALTY LOADED (thick crust, about 12). Or you can go the VICTORIA'S BUILD YOUR OWN route. I was too hungry to decide, so I let Thuy pick. As Thuy looked over the menu I enjoyed a glass of house red for $6 and a generous pour. As Thuy read and I drank, a plate of bread balls (think tiny knots) and red sauce arrived. Very tasty and quite the taste bud opener. I was no longer starving and gave the menu look, where I saw a nice list of APPETIZERS, SALADS, SANDWICHES, PASTA, CALZONES and a kids menu (LITTLE ITALY) . Thuy eventually settled on the "Chicago Joe - Our Special Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Deli Sliced Pepperoni, Salami, Capacola and Pepperchinis, Cut into Squares." I loved the fact it was cut into squares, as that's just how they do it in Chicago. But more than that, this pie was fantastic. Delicious toppings on a perfectly executed crust. I'm so glad Thuy ordered the large, as I am already looking forward to leftovers. Although I am a red wine drinker now, I did notice a rather impressive wall of beer taps and a sign indicating growler service. Lastly our server, Tiffany, was a delight. She was attentive and knowledgeable, and added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. Bottom line: So lately I've been trying not to rate something 5 stars on my first visit, thinking "If I don't come back, is it really 5 stars? It can be, but only rarely." But damn, this was such a good pizza anything less would be unjust. Next time I plan to count how many pizza places we drive past just to get to Wise Guys! Place is located just off the access road of 114 in the Tom Thumb shopping strip that doesn't necessarily face the highway so keep your eyes peeled. Plenty of parking and when you enter in, they have plenty of tables, a bar and an outside patio. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken right away. The laminated menus could probably use a good wipedown and looking towards the door, there was a mess of menus behind the host stand that were all over the floor that no one bothered to pick up. What looked like a seemingly bad omen quickly turned around cause the food definitely makes up for. Our waitress was very nice but she got sidetracked fairly easily. The complimentary parmesan garlic knots with a side of marinara for the table which is really good and a pleasant delight. The large pizzas run about $21 each however two was more than enough to feed 4 people. These pizzas are loaded with cheese and tasty ingredients. They do come out kinda greasy, but taste really good. Man, been coming to Wise Guys for years. 4 stars because I love the food it's always great and the garlic knots are incredibly good. However in the past two visits that I've had the service has dropped off significantly. Waited about 8-10 mins for a server to come greet or take our drink order while the entire place was empty except for one other table which was seated right behind us. There was more too this but I will say it's hard to tell who is/was in charge most of the employees were HS kids but someone has got to be running the place. I felt unwelcome pretty much upon entry. The young man at the register just stared at me when I said I had never been there. Didn't say welcome, offer a menu or suggest anything. After literally having to look around for a food menu a young lady asked me if I'd like a menu , to which another young gentleman stated "you're so nice. I'm not" as he walked away. That was enough to let me know this is not a place I want to spend my valuable, hard earned money.
