Well, not what it used to be and this just makes me sad. My son needed to run to Argyle for an errand and we decided to have him pick up Earl's on the way home. We hadn't been since their renovation. Yayyy, Earl's! Not so fast. The prices have gone up quite a bit and the quality, way down. We ordered the Italian Cobb and it was good but a bit sparse - not packed full of all the yumminess it's made of anymore. Nonna's meatballs were the biggest disappointment. They have gone up almost $5 I believe and whoever's Nonna made them, overcooked or microwaved them to death. They used to be SO good! Now, they aren't. We ordered 3 pizzas - the Bianca, the Margherita and the BBQ Arezzo. The Bianca was good, the Margherita was good but a little sparse and the BBQ Arezzo was awful. Like, nobody would eat it awful and that's pretty bad. I don't know if ingredients were bad or what but there was little to no sauce and it was just...bad. So bad that I called and spoke to the manager that offered a free pizza - NO thanks - or a refund. I opted for the refund and because we still have not gotten a refund for the 1 pizza only, I decided to write a review. We have literally been going to Earl's for YEARS and it has always been amazing. I looked past the prices going up because the price of food had gone up but when nobody will eat the food because it tastes horrible or is overcooked and we have spent close to $100, I'm out. Not sure what's going on but they definitely need a new Nonna to whip them back into shape. read more

We've been coming to Earl's for several years and we're a bit skeptical when they changed their menu. Tonight reminded us that we still love Earl's 377, now know as Earl & Isabella's Taverna. The pizza is still amazing, even as simple as a cheese and pepperoni; but the star of the show was the pasta. Hand pulled and boy can you tell the difference. The spaghetti was absolutely one of the best we've had with thick noodles that scream homemade. We had a large party and Marco, the chef, checked in on us regularly. Tracy, our waitress was on point. We started with the small Caesar salad. We subbed olives for the tomatoes, because we are not big raw tomato fans. The homemade Caesar dressing and focaccia croutons were INCREDIBLE! It was the BEST Caesar we've ever had. And we had enough to take home with us. We had the BBQ Pizza - the BBQ sauce was not overpowering. Not too spicy not too sweet. The roasted red peppers added just the right amount of smoky and spice and the grilled onion gave the sweet aspect with a little crunch! Well done! Great music, the Caesar salad wasn't my thing , or maybe they brought me the wrong one, it had artichokes and tomatoes, (I hate to send food back so I didn't say anything) the dressing was good but won't order it again. SUMMARY: Hits all the marks for a solid dining experience: great food, fun atmosphere, and Outstanding service! VISIT We were first time visitors but not the first time we tried to dine here. Finally we made another attempt and glad we did. We were impressed by the country type atmosphere and by the cleanliness of the place. Big plus for this. FOOD We ordered a small margherita pizza as well as a small Caesar salad. We were really impressed by how well the crust came out. Nice and crispy without being burnt and still held its shape even with the ingredients soaking in. The sauce was outstanding too and the balance of the ingredients vs the ratio of pizza dough was perfect for us. Now the star of the show in my opinion was the Caesar salad. Boy, I gladly polished off what my wife couldn't! Perfectly sauced without drowning in the Caesar dressing and the right amount of ingredients. I especially liked the grape tomatoes. Nice n sweet and firm fresh skin, not old by any means. SERVICE: Can we say how much we loved our waitress Leanna? Hopefully I spelled her name correctly. She was absolutely the best and the restaurant should be happy that she represents the restaurant with her awesome service, demeanor, and service. She checked up on us enough at the right times and not too often so as to be intrusive. We have been in the DFW area for some appointments, and love to eat at new restaurant places when can. This time, we stopped at Earl's 377 Pizza. It was great! When you enter, you see a strong atmosphere of support for those who serve. They have set up in an old fire station, so the building has a very unique style of decor that works well for a pizza place. On their website, you find the story of how their restaurant started, and it is a lovely story of two WW2 young people who fell in love in Italy and came back to the states and started the restaurant. (At the top of the page it says, "Now, if this isn't true, it oughta be!"). We had the BBQ Arezzo pizza and our daughter had the kid's pepperoni. Both were outstanding. At the end of the meal, we had the Nutella dessert pizza. I have come to realize that the crust makes the pizza- and the Nutella Pizza was outstanding because of this! Our 10 year old daughter said - give them 5 stars- we will be returning! I couldn't agree more! read more

I think my recommendation would be based on what you order, rather than an across the board 'thumbs up'. I have to take issue with their presentation of 'Bolognese', which traditionally does not include any peppers-no chili flakes, no red or green peppers, basically no 'heat'. When whatever added ingredient is so overwhelming, that it destroys the taste of the sauce, especially at these prices, then I am disappointed. The particular time I ordered their pasta with 'bolognese sauce', was so laced with heat-whether chili flakes or something else, that I almost could not eat it. So, I recommend you stick with the pizzas as a main course, and steer away from the pasta dishes. Adding chili flakes or peppers goes against the flavor profile of the recipe, ruins the subtlety, and is exactly why one does not add garlic to a traditional bolognese sauce. Perhaps a bit more nutmeg? If that WAS an ingredient, then it was completely missed. However, if you do not care and prefer to have 'heat' in everything you eat, then have at it and don't pay any mind to my criticism. Let's just not call it 'bolognese' and then perhaps make up a new name for that newly created sauce...one less suggestive of what it really should taste like. Service and ambiance are great! Good pizzas, salads and drinks! Our server was busy, but we never would have guessed as he was perfectly attentive, refilling our drinks often and even offering us to-go cups when we left. The Small salads are huge and easily shared for 2-4 people, it was a good salad. The pizza we enjoyed was the padre island and it was VERY tasty!! Their ranch is also very good!! The service we had was amazing, her name was Megan and she did a great job. Stopped by for a late lunch today in between meetings. We ordered they spaghetti and meatballs (it had a much better name but I can't remember it ) and we split that to start. They brought our plates out and we told the waitress that we wanted to split one, not have one each. Turns out that was the split portion and that's when I knew we were in trouble . Pasta and sauce were good the meatballs were great. Next up was a Carne pizza where the waitress was nice enough to suggest swapping the salami for brisket. Dough and crust tasted great, toppings were awesome and the cheese was good. Next we had the Nutella desert. My wife and I headed out to a new place for us in Argyle called Earl's 377. Seemed like a great little place for date night when we walked in and a huge patio awaits the good weather months. All the folks there were very nice and welcoming. It seemed pretty slow even for a Tuesday night as there were only 3 tables including us at 7:15 or so. The menus are neat antique clipboard style and very simple to understand. My wife got a beer for like $6.5 and I got a margarita for $10 and a $3 Grand Marnier topper. Everything seemed to start out right. We put in our order of lasagna, Caesar salad, and a meatball sub. With so few tables in the place I was surprised at the length of time it took to get food out. The salad was first to arrive and I will say a small salad of $8 will be more than enough for four people to start out the meal with. They add artichokes to it which I think are ok, but just a warning in case you don't like them. I asked for a side of anchovies and they came out. Certainly they're the canned variety. I'd say the salad could have used a little more dressing. Their forks are also quite unique, neither good nor bad for me, but curved like a spoon and tines like a fork. Certainly a spork if I've ever seen one. About ten minutes after Nonna's meatball sandwich came out to us. Perhaps I'm used to a lot more sauce when it comes to this type of sandwich but I will say it came out with no sauce, caked in mozzarella, and very bland. Pepper chips came with it as an included side which I thought were ok. The meatballs were moist but just nothing head and shoulders above other places. For $15 I'd be inclined to say it's not much value either between price, quantity, and flavor. Though the sandwich came out in decent time, there was enough time for us to play shuffleboard as it was nearby our table. It's free and shows the wear and tear of customers use, but was nonetheless a nice way to pass the time. We were thankful it was there because it took another 20 minutes for the Vita Mia lasagna to come out. Again perhaps it's homemade and takes time to make, but 25-30 mins from order to table seems like a bit much. The edges seemed burned and the bottom was even worse. Bolognese style is the description but not sure they'd give their thumbs up for this one, especially for $17. Meals aren't really big enough for two except for the salad, unless you have smaller appetites. Thanks to the staff for being so cordial, but it's the food that keeps people coming back and I'd be hard-pressed to make another trip here other than to sit out on the patio and have a few drinks. In addition there were enough fruit flies buzzing around our table to be a significant turn-off for the place. read more

We visited Earl's a while back for an impromptu lunch. It has a country vibe and thankfully not very crowded at the time. The server was attentive and helpful. They serve beer and wine and other drinks if you're the type to unwind with a libation. The Caesar salad was large enough to share and the pizza crisp and tasty, but not out of this world. We tried Earls about a year ago and loved it -- great vibe inside with cool decor, plenty of seating, and amazing food. Fast forward to now, and it's a totally different story. They rebranded and changed the recipes, and the food is just bad. We spent over $100 on takeout and ended up throwing it away. Such a shame because it used to be one of our favorites. This was our first time here since the renovation and (some) change in menu items. We went on a Wednesday night and there were only a few tables that were occupied. Quite a few people seemed to be working at that time, however, we waited close to 5 minutes at our table before anyone came over to get our drink order. A guy finally came to our table to let us know that our wait person (who was standing at a table close to us) would be with us shortly (she had been talking to the people at that table since we had been seated) and asked if he could take our drinks. I asked if there were any wine specials and he said, "I don't know, I've been off for a week, so not sure, but I can find out." He walks away to check and to get my son's drink order. A few minutes later, our wait person comes over to get our drink order. I asked her if there were any wine specials and she didn't know either. Spoiler alert.....there weren't. We then ordered an Italian Cobb salad (previously one of our favorite menu items) and an Uncle Carmen's pizza. When the salad arrived, it did not disappoint and was just as I had remembered (delicious). However, when our pizza arrived, it was a major disappointment. One of the ingredients is supposed to be Italian sausage, but there were only a few crumbles here and there. No cheese visible; it basically looked like a red sauce pizza and very wet and runny sauce at that. If we tried to lift a piece off the pan (we were not given any utensil to help with this), we had to put a fork underneath the piece because everything was running off onto the pan. The taste was not bad and the outer edge crust was good, but I really wanted more than "sauce pizza". I think I'm safe in saying we will not be returning here any time soon unless we hear from others that they have made improvements. I would love to support a local restaurant because they are desperately needed in Argyle, but I just can't get behind this place. read more

We absolutely love this place and truly have never tried anything on the menu we didn't love. It may be pricier than Pizza Hut, but you can't beat the clearly fresher, higher quality food. Had the Margarita pizza. Best version of this I have ever had. The dough was magnificent. We also had the Italian Cobb and it's one of those comfort salads with red wine vinaigrette over shredded greens, tomatoes, olives, cheese. Perfect. We had a party of four. We ordered the meat balls appetizer, two small pizzas, a small salad, and one lasagne and had a lot to take home. After we ate we also ordered the Nutella pizza, a definite 5 stars with strawberries as recommended by our waitress. The service was outstanding, we were seated in minutes, our drink and food orders taken within 5 minutes and things began to arrive. Our waitress did an excellent job. First time visit. Great food and extraordinary service. We came by this restaurant at the last minute and we will be back! The restaurant is spacious and has a rustic decor. The portions are large and the value is excellent. I didn't expect the food and service to be so amazing. This is my new favorite restaurant. We ordered a small Caesar salad and one pizza that was half my liking and half my husband's liking. It was perfect. The salad was humungous and plenty to share for 2 people. Of the four bottled beers they had available, I requested Shiner. I was told they were out of Shiner (on a Friday night in Texas- what?). Modelo draft and Mic Ultra were the available substitutes. We ordered the Pepperoni pizza. The toppings were great. Lots of cheese (almost too much). The crust was sour dough. Hard to cut through the crust if you prefer to use a fork. Our kids live in the area and Argyle needs good restaurants. We cheer a good restaurant on. This is a good restaurant but please cater a bit to popular trends.
