While strolling along Main Street in Grapevine, TX during the Grapevine Festival, I worked up quite an appetite and decided it was time to find something to eat. With so many dining options available, I chose Jake's Burgers after hearing positive recommendations from my brother. Upon entering, I immediately noticed how organized and spotless the restaurant was. It had a welcoming sports-bar atmosphere that felt both relaxed and inviting. I was promptly greeted by J.T., the host, who was kind, polite, and welcoming as he escorted us to a booth. Our server, K.T., was friendly, efficient, and attentive. He quickly brought us water, took our order, and thoughtfully repeated everything back to ensure accuracy. We started with the fried mushrooms ($8.99), which arrived hot, juicy, well-seasoned, and pleasantly spicy--just as promised. They were easily some of the best fried mushrooms I've had in a long time. For our main course, I ordered the Classic Double Cheeseburger on a poppyseed bun with all the toppings ($11.79), while we also tried the Jake's Special Burger with the works ($11.79). Jakes has a friendly diner feel to it. There is some parking in a lot adjacent to the market on the corner, as well as parallel street spots out front. The menu is overwhelmingly big. They have burgers in the name, so I jumped right to that section. Ultimately, decided on the Frito Chili Burger. We had a table of 8, and they brought the food out in batches - two people who ordered chicken sandwiches had to wait about 5 minutes longer than everyone else at the table which was a bit awkward. Despite being on the busy Main Street filled with tourists, the restaurant maintains a clean, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere. Tammy, one of the managers, is exceptionally warm and professional. A long‑established restaurant and bar, serving the community for over 40 years and considered one of the classics in the DFW area. Their signature item is the generously sized hamburger, which has won numerous awards. Just a few minutes' walk from Grapevine Station, with free street parking available right out front. I decided to try this place for the first time because of its good reputation, but the patty was not tasty at all. It had no flavor or char. I'm not sure why. We walked into a typical bar like setting with booths. Our waitress was nice but not very attentive. We had the Jakes special burger and the chicken fried steak sandwich with fries and onion rings. I love chicken fried steak sandwich's they are my favorite. Unfortunately the meat was so tough and grissly that I had to send it back. We had to make a stop at the cobbler (the shoe repair, not the delicious dessert--sadly) in downtown Grapevine, which naturally meant lunch was also on the agenda. Now, I have a few go-to favorites in the area--Yolbert's, that Mr. 101 Pizza place, and the ridiculously good deli sandwich spot. But in the spirit of discovery (and giving me fresh material for Yelp), we decided to try something new. Enter: Jake's. From the street, it looks like your average cozy spot, but inside? Surprisingly spacious. We were seated right away, and our waitress, Avery, was on the ball. We scoured the menu for onion rings but didn't see them--turns out they are mentioned, just not in an obvious way (menu redesign, perhaps?). But by then, we had already pivoted to fried green beans and a chili Frito burger to split. That burger? A masterpiece. Served on a poppy seed bun, packed with crunchy Fritos, and somehow not the total mess I was expecting--though still a solid two-napkin situation. The green beans were tasty but left me wondering... fresh or frozen? They had a slight pre-frozen vibe, but I'm not a scientist, just a green bean enthusiast. Would I come back? Absolutely. For 40 years Jakes has been serving up the local community and for 40 years I have never been inside to try their food. Upon walking in, it looks like a place that has been around awhile. My service was pretty decent. At first a little slow but then he found his rhythm and things were good. I came for a burger but even surprised myself when a I ordered the Southwest Grilled Chicken Breast with Fries and Mac & Cheese. While it was not great, it was pretty good. Convenient location and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you can stop in anytime. On this visit, we were seated and then it seemed to take quite a while to get a server's attention, even though it was not too busy, but we were not in a hurry. They have a good selection of drinks and variety of food on the menu. I had the grilled Southwestern chicken with loaded mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The chicken seasoning was excellent but overall it was a little dry. Vegetables were very tasty. We have been here several times and will likely go again. First off, the food was amazing. It was exactly what you'd expect to see on an advertisement and tasted just as good. Pair that with the fun feel of Grapevine and the historical feeling ambiance and it was lovely. But the BEST part hands down was the service from Dakota! We were starting at Jakes for a family staycation and thought it would be fun to get a burger on the way to our hotel. Jake's is not the place to order wine. The $9 wine pours were ridiculous! The tator tots were unbelievably greasy and barely warm. We questioned the wine pours and they just blew us off. For a Saturday evening, the place was not busy. I think we now know why. We won't be back. read more

Ultimately, a burger place is about burgers. I tried 2- the chicken fried bacon and the Jalapeño bottle cap. Both sets of smash burgers was dry, the flavors were forgettable. To make matters worse, my sweet potato fries were cold and soggy- not a crispy one in the lot. Spent several hours at Jake's in Grapevine. It was really enjoyable. Very relaxed and casual. Out bartender, Xavier, was very good, attentive a good sport. The snacks, food and drinks were excellent, as usual. Will we be back....absolutely !! read more

Nice bar with plenty of YV's for sports and entertainment. As we walked in, we weren't greeted and stood there for a minute and then decided to seat ourselves. We waited about 5 minutes before we were recognized. Once recognized service was good but when we ordered, I feel like she should have mentioned cost. The order was a single burger with pickles and cheese, onion rings and a sweet tea. That alone was $21!!! She should have mentioned the up charge or something. I didn't realize the burger didn't come with anything. I got a hot dog and fries and a water for $14.00. Better but not great. The hot dog comes on sliced bread. So you aren't able to pick it up. It was delicious. I left my jacket there and when I called the manager said she would meet me at my car! That was awesome! The price of the burger, onion rings and tea would keep me from going again. It was just an ordinary burger, nothing amazing. We weren't asked how it should be cooked or anything. Will go again for appetizers and maybe a drink but for that price, I can get better food elsewhere down the street. read more

Walked into Jake's, and it was pretty slow nit a lot of people, which was great for me, probably not so much for the servers. I sat down and was greeted by the bartender and ordered a 4 Nation's Texican beer. It was not bad a nice bbq weather beer. I added some lime to it, and it was pretty tasty. Bartender asked if I wanted food, and after looking over the menu, I settled on the Breakfast burger. 2 beef patties,cheese, egg, ham, and bacon. YUM! She asked if i wanted sides, and I asked if the onion rings were beer battered or crispy she told me what do you mean? WAIT, WHAT! I said yea battered like Whataburger or Crispy like Sonic. She said, "Oh yea, there like Sonic." I said I wanted them crispy cause I'm not a fan of battered onion rings. They most definitely are not like Sonic they are not crisp. They are not bad, but they are not crispy! Anyway, I got the burger, and OH YEA, it was on! That burger was GREAT! I cut the burger in half and cut the egg and the yoke coated the inside man it was good! The bun soaked up the yoke so it didn't spill on the plate. The burger was tasty. the only thing is I wish the bacon would have been a little more crispy all in all solid burger I would go back to try the other ones. We went for lunch / early dinner today. I tried the buffalo chicken mac n cheese bowl. Lol. It sounded horrible and it was. Why is this even on the menu? It was one chicken tender cut up with bacon and tossed on mac n cheese in an augratin dish then doused. No. Drowned. In buffalo sauce. For relief theres a little crumbled blue cheese. I told the server it was almost inedible. My husbands wasn't much better. We won't be back. read more

we used to love Jake's. unfortunately something has gone terribly awry with their beef. I first noticed it about a year ago when dining at the flower mound location. I chalked it up to an off day. fast forward to last week, took a bite of my burger and that same horrible taste. my husband (who isn't picky at all and easily appeased) stopped halfway through his burger and asked does your burger taste bad? it was so awful neither of us finished our burgers. I don't think the meat was bad as we did not get sick so I can only assume it's either a very old frozen patty and/or very low quality beef. the sweet potato fries w/marshallow dip never disappoin though. wish their burgers were better. read more
