We went into this expecting the experience to be an absolute shoo-in for a fabulous speakeasy vibe, beverages and experience. We arrived mid afternoon and were the only customers there, which we were just fine with. The bartender was incredibly friendly and offered a lot of advice and his opinions on several of the bourbons. The more we talked to him, it seemed that he didn't quite know his bourbons, which is fine, because you need to start somewhere, but he also didn't seem to have his cocktail skills perfected either. Unfortunately, their website did not match what was currently being offered. I was excited to try one of their seasonal cocktails butt was told it was not available as that was the previous month's availability. I decided to go with an old fashioned instead but was sorely disappointed as it just fell flat and didn't seem to be in the bartenders wheelhouse. My boyfriend tried a cocktail as well but experienced the same letdown. We had read great reviews on Goodfellows pizzaria and did place an order but will review that thru the pizzeria itself. While the bar itself has the potential to offer a fun vibe and could entice you back for more, that was not what we experienced and will probably not return any time soon. read more

I attended the Wiseguys bourbon raffle - great place, but the event was badly organized. The Bourbon prices were insane, the organizers didn't announce when check in was, and apparently turning the loud music down so people could hear the person without the microphone making announcements was too difficult. Their response? Turn the music up louder. It was much better organized in 2024, I hope Wiseguys does better. People were leaving because it was too hot, too loud and too crowded. I absolutely loved this upstairs lounge! While the space isn't very big there is a nice size bar that can seat about 8 and some surrounding leather couches and tables to hang out. The place has a lot of dark woods and earth tones making it warm and inviting. Our bartender, Dan, was absolutely FANTASTIC. We stopped here to have a couple cocktails. We stopped because we absolutely love the Wiseguy Lounge in Indianapolis, we stop there often. So in comparing the two there is really no comparison. The bartender here had no charisma and also seemed like she didn't really care if we were there or not. One of the things we really enjoy about ordering cocktails in the Indy location is the flare the cocktails are served with and the extremely friendly outgoing bartenders there. Let me start by saying Wiseguys is one of my favorite bars in the city! We typically go to the OTR location, but now that we are in Covington more we have been going there. I love to stop in and get a beer, mixed drink, or our favorite-- pixie shots! Pixie shots have been a staple for a fun night out in our friend group! Definitely the BEST shot I've had. We were extremely excited to stop in and grab a shot and drink. We were celebrating an out of town birthday and the ONLY request she had was to stop and get a pixie shot. We went out of our way to stop in. When we arrived it was anything less than inviting and welcoming. The bartender was extremely rude. We asked for the pixie shots and she stated that she did not have the ingredients to make them at this location. We have had bartenders complain about making the shots before as well. She said "in the 7 months that I've been here we have never made them here" and like I said before we stop in pretty often so we knew that wasn't the case. This has happened many times before and the bartender has guided us to a different choice, which is perfectly fine! Unfortunately a rude and unwelcoming bartender is something that seems to be the normal at this establishment because she is not the only rude one we have encountered. We really like Wiseguys, but after these experiences we probably will not be back for a while. read more

Bartenders are always nice and ready to help suggest a cocktail to fit your likings. There are a wide selection of cocktails for everyone. The bartenders use "prohibition" style techniques to make your drinks, for example, crushing ice with a paddle in a brown sack. We usually order a pizza at the bar or walk downstairs to grab a slice. If you know Zephon, you know I love my bourbon. That being said, it was inevitable that I'd fall in love with Wiseguy Lounge. With an extensive bourbon list and great bartenders that know their bourbon and know how to CRAFT a great cocktail, you'll love it here. There is a cocktail there that blew my mind. The name evades me but it's really really good. It's so good that I had to do the bartender equivalent of what Johnny Depp did to the cook in 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' to restore the disrupted equilibrium the cook caused by making a dish that was way too good. Except replace the gun with an iPhone. I shot a pick of a drink my man AJ hooked up. This one was different though. Go there. You'll love it. Atmosphere is chill with good music and super comfy seats. Also doesn't hurt that you can order some bomb pizza while you drink. read more

Have never had that experience before. Could not have been worse customer service. Wiseguy's is a great bar right above Goodfella's pizza. They're known for their bourbon selection and craft cocktails. I asked our bartender, Kevin, what to get and he suggested the Old Fashioned since it's their most popular drink. It was delicious! I really liked how they torched the orange slice to release all of it's juices and that it's served with a high quality maraschino cherry. They have hundreds of bourbons to choose from, plus a few craft beers on tap. It was pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon while we were there, but I bet it gets more popular at night. Absolutely love this place. It is small but it is not too small where you feel like sardines in a can. They have comfortable chairs to sit and allowed to bring pizza up from Goodfellas below the bar. I believe weekdays are better to come because the seating arrangement are more intimate. Meaning the seats are facing each other. On weekends, the seats backed against the wall does give more space on the floor but lose that friendly feeling. The bartenders are very helpful. Have a large selection of beers and they are happy to help you decide. They will give you samples but PLEASE dont take advantage of it and we lose that spark from them. First off, Wiseguy's/goodfellas is my favorite place to hang out in Cincinnati. I typically go to the OTR location but we were out in Covington so we decided to try this location. The Goodfella's workers are always super friendly and give excellent service. However, the Wise Guys lounge was a much less pleasant experience. After getting a late night slice we headed upstairs for one last beer and the female bartender gave us attitude and checked our ID as long as she could. (I get that it was almost 2am and you don't want any more customers but all we ordered was a beer and we were out of your hair). No customers enjoy being treated like an inconvenience. We will definitely be sticking to the OTR location and their friendly bartenders. read more

Stopped by around 6:30 on Nov 10, 2018 to grab some pizza and some beers/drinks. There was 7 of us and the service at Wiseguys was terrible. The female bartender was rude as hell. We asked if they could turn on the game and she said "only after you order drinks", that was why we were in line, just saying. So we order another round of 5 beers. The female bartender nearly refused to take out order because someone in our group had an open tab. What??? We told her we were paying for these drinks separately. After a few minutes of arguing she accepted our payment. Just crazy!! This has been the worst service ever experienced at Wiseguys. We have been here multiple times in the last few years. I am pretty sure we can get better service elsewhere. read more

Yelp probably won't allow enough characters for me to give this place the review it really deserves. Nestled in the heart of Mainstrasse Village above Goodfella's Pizza, this gem of a lounge is different from what anyone else is doing in this city. There are over 140 different bourbons to choose from, so this place is basically Mecca for me. Price ranges from $4-$70 from their bourbon selections, so they really offer something for everyone. Not to mention, their craft cocktail list is beyond amazing. Get an Old-Fashioned, a Boss-Manhattan, or a Seelbach... They will all change your life. I can't forget about their beyond amazing bar staff either. Bill, Brendan, and Lou will quickly become your best friends on weekends, and truly care about their patrons. Then there's the pizza downstairs at Goodfellas... Let's just say since trying one of their New York style slices (which are bigger than a baby), I haven't been able to eat any other pizza since.
