I was excited to try it based on the reviews, but I guess I came on a bad day. I ordered the crab claws ($35) and the bayou classic ($23). The crab claws were flavorful, but cold. There was a significant fly problem. The bayou classic had potential, but the rice was hard and underdone and also cold. I replaced the bayou classic with salmon pasta. They also were out of almost everything I wanted to try ... oysters, collard greens soup, and banana pudding. I really wish I had more positive to say, but that is my honest opinion. This place has a good atmosphere and solid music, and the crowd was fun. The waitstaff was friendly, which always matters. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and overall I enjoyed the experience. My cousin actually brought me here when I first came back to town. The tea was especially good. The menu also contained lots of options that sounded directly. The service was lovely too. Greeted warmly and seated quickly. Food came out fast and hot except for the fries which were delicious and worth the wait. It did get busier as we were eating, and she continued to maintain a very pleasant attitude as she greeted people who did have to wait for seating. We pulled into Wishbone just as it opened for lunch on a Tuesday for a bite to eat before continuing our self-guided, four-day Civil Rights Tour. We were delighted! The food is classic New Orleans with some culinary surprises - all at one-fourth the cost of a fine NOLA restaurant. Order anything with mushrooms! What a lovely sauce on the stuffed mushroom appetizer, and the mushrooms in the Louis Armstrong had the taste and texture of tender, juicy steak. The fabulous work going on in the kitchen extends to the clean and bright dining room where the kind and attentive staff is focused making you comfortable. The day was hot, and as we walked in we were offered iced tea immediately. Cold drinks were at our table almost before we sat down. My husband had his usual unsweet freshly brewed tea but I indulged in the sweet house tea - oh, wow! The house tea is fruity and perfectly balanced. Not too sweet and not too fruity. So thirst-quenching! Then, we were brought a small complimentary soup to whet our appetite. So nice! The moment we tasted the soup - a basic, house-made vegetable soup - we knew we were in for a fabulous meal - the broth was deep and rich and the vegetables were not overcooked. Another good Montgomery spot. Parking in a private lot, good service but oh my gosh they have amazing iced tea. I mean, seriously their I ed tea should be listed as a class III substance, it is that addicting. We had a big lunch that day do my son and I did not sample much. But here is what we had. Yea - sorry, I repeat it is amazing Veggies - this is a side dish, but it was heavenly. Bayou Classic - the shrimp were fabulous but the crab was just not my thing. I'm so very torn in my review. The atmosphere was great. And the food was freaking AMAZING!!! But they were very understaffed. And that impacted service and the timeliness of our orders coming out. I dined with a party of 18, and we made the reservation one week in advance, so the staff knew to expect us. Unfortunately, there was also a birthday party at the same time. And it appeared as though there was one server for the birthday party, one server for our party of 18, and potentially one cook. So everything was slow. But again, the food was worth the wait. Amazing cajun food right in Montgomery. I stopped in here for lunch today before shopping and it did not disappoint. It is located in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. The restaurant is set up with a bar and plenty of seating. They had a happy hour menu so it may be a nice place for a date night or to grab a drink. As soon as I was seated my server brought our a sample of their specialty tea and a sample of the collard green soup. They were both delicious, especially the soup! After looking over the menu I decided to go with the crawfish Julie. It was a very creamy sauce with pieces of crawfish served over rice with a side of toast. This was my first time having crawfish julie sauce and let me tell you this dish was RICH. The size of the bowl was bigger than I expected and with how rich the dish was, I struggled to finish. That being said the sauce was delicious and had enough spice to compliment the crawfish flavor. The service here was spot on and my waitress made sure to check in on me every couple of minutes. A interesting meal. A southern boy usually knows red beans and rice but this rendition had me puzzled. I ordered the full shrimp plate with red beans and rice as the side. $18. I did expect more than what I got but there was 12 shrimp about 26/30 a medium shrimp not horrible but they were over cooked and heavily seasoned not spicy but on the salty side. But now the red beans I was changed $5 xtra and they came out in a bowl with a creamy sauce. The sausage made me search the bowl and I did find a few red beans in there hiding with a few pieces of rice. Not what I am use to for sure but the flavor was good. More of an ettouffe in my book. We were in Montgomery and decided to have lunch. We like seafood and Cajun so we thought we'd see what Wishbone Cafe had to offer. It had high reviews so why not? It was late afternoon when we visited and there were a few guests. At the bar area, there were quite a few people who sounded like they were having a good time. The server was friendly and sat us immediately. She gave us a sample of their signature tea. It was pretty good! I ordered the Bayou Classic that had crab cakes, shrimp, spinach, Cajun rice and cream sauce. For my taste, it was just ok. The crab tasted particularly fishy and overpowered the rest of the flavors in the dish. And I don't like a fishy taste. It was not my favorite. My husband ordered the Pasta Mardi Gras. He said it was just ok as well. He said the sausage was not flavorful and was a bit disappointed that it lacked flavor. And, unfortunately, the sodas were flat. Maybe we should have stuck with their signature tea. I wish we had a more positive review, especially after seeing all of the rave reviews on Yelp, but this was not one to brag about. read more

Wherever it is, if you're in Montgomery you should go there! Our party of 4 arrived with no expectations and some hungry bellies. We were immediately served some samples of tea and a bit of the soup of the day. The tea was a delicious sweet pineapple concoction. I'm not normally a fan of sweet teas, but this was cold and delicious. The soup, vegetable, had a wonderful rich beefy flavor to it. A great way to welcome us to the restaurant. We started with the quesadillas and wings. We had the jerk flavored wings. The quesadillas were good. The wings were awesome. Not too spicy but great flavor. For an entree i had the salad with salmon on it. Salmon was cooked well. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely as the others got shrimp or crab cakes. You know that feeling you get when you're trying to find a place to park at the super crowded mall and a spot opens up right in front? Yeah, Wishbone Cafe is that magical parking spot. While in Montgomery for work I wanted something good to eat and this place didn't disappoint. The food is seasoned well and flavorful! Their special tea is delicious! And the service is also good. I ordered the bayou classic which is rice topped with crab cakes, shrimp, spinach, and a Cajun cream sauce. It comes with a side of bread too. The portion size is perfect and you can't beat that price($13) for that meal. I don't remember the soup name that I sampled but it was surprisingly really tasty. We came here right after Christmas, so it's been about 2 months since we came here. Honestly, I don't remember what me or my husband ordered. I know was it was one of their infamous seafood dishes. The one thing that I vividly remember is that my fellow Yelpers came through correct on the reviews because the food was OFF DA' CHAIN!!! On top of that all of the staff was extremely personable and friendly and the prices were more than reasonable. I'm glad we decided to stop in grab a bite. Had to wait a minute or 3 for it to cool down...but that first bite...sent warm fuzzies straight down my gullet into that belly o mine. Really hearty and good, and almost filled me up before I got my entree! The entree was very good; rice topped with shrimp crab cakes spinach and Cajun dressing....topped with Cajun seasoned white bread. I had to pack up some of it Cuz it was just too much for me. But it was a very good meal; 5 layer Cajun dish and soup for $18 plus tax and tip ain't too shabby...not shabby at all. Strip mall parking, so shouldn't be an issue...not too familiar with the area for lunch not sure if it gets crazy crowded or not. The service is great and our waiter was very accommodating. The mushrooms are great! I recommend ordering as an appetizer. The menu needs to be updated because we wanted oysters. However, when it came to ordering oysters the waiter explained that those are no longer being served as of quite awhile ago so that was a bummer. There was also a grease fire so nothing fried could be served.... Bathroom's needed tending to. I would go back for the gumbo and the stuffed mushrooms.
