My wife and I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich along with mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. We love the food here. My wife and I tried Wiz's not too long ago and our experience was marginal at best. We were really disappointed because a friend had recommended it. I had a grilled chicken salad that was totally unremarkable and my wife had some chicken wings that were overcooked and under flavored. We also noted that the place was a mess and there was food on the floor under tables etc. They also have a buffet that was a mess and looked like someone had slopped pigs from it. I have heard people say that they like it but I have to wonder if they have taste-buds and can see clearly. I wish it was better because it is close by but it is what it is. read more

Was an eye opening event, this eatery is in the edge of nowhere. The menu is readable from the every angle in the door way, so take your time. I had the rib-eye steak sandwich and homemade chips, awesome. I missed out out the fresh cheese cake that was eyeing me as I left. Had dinner with my wife here tonight. I had the Ribeye and she had the Prime Rib. They were both delicious (I sneaked a bite of my wife's steak. The place was clean and the service was great. As another reviewer says, they do have a very extensive menu which leads to some fairly average items. However, there are some real gems here -- try the Smoky Mountain Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my favorites. There's also occasional specials, which are usually worth trying as well. One of the specialties here is the cheesecake, which is made fresh and is delicious if it's your thing -- you owe it to yourself to try it at least once. Recently, Wiz's has put in a new buffet which I'm told will be expanding in time. This might give some much needed competition to Shealy's and Hite's, as the cooks at Wiz's are more likely to try something "a little bit different" depending on what they have on hand, as compared to other buffets in town where they generally stick to nothing but the Southern classics. The atmosphere is a little more laid back than the sterile cafeteria-style of Shealy's and Hite's, so it is definitely easier to sink into a booth for awhile and just catch your breath. They serve beer (and wine) as well, so it's now possible to wash down your burger with some suds if you aren't feeling like the usual soda, tea, or water. Wiz's Eatery isn't always best food in town, but portion sizes are ridiculously large and prices are low, which likely keeps this as a local favorite. read more

Incredibly hot, hits you as soon as you enter and there is absolutely no relief through out the business. Forget ice in your drink to cool you down, neither ice machine was working and the young lady said it would be "a while" before there was more. Several items missing from the Luke warm Salad bar that I paid all you can eat for but was not worth even going once much less twice, popcorn is no longer available & they didn't have any gravy. Be prepared for the inundation of flying guests (flys) that will be swarming your table while you try to enjoy your lackluster meal. I was very pleased on my first visit. The staff were very polite and friendly. I had the grilled pork chops with baked potato and salad bar. The portions were large and everything tasted very good. Wiz's is very family friendly and has a large selection of dinner choices. My new favorite is the cauliflower crust pizza. I like the salad bar, and if you like wraps -- theirs are good. Not a fan of the chicken wings (they were too large and not crispy), but there are a lot of other choices on the menu. The chicken cordon bleu sandwich is enormous. I always cut it in half and even that's too much for one sitting. Often the wait to order (you stand in line at the door) is kind of long, but the food is served pretty quickly. Because it's family friendly and generally crowded, there will be the inevitable bits of food on the floor, etc. so if that bothers you -- maybe consider ordering it to-go. The only other time that we ate at Wiz's, it was very good. My wife got the 10oz burger and it was cooked exactly like she likes'em and I had the 16" thin crust pizza and both were excellent. We are from Newberry, SC and so we were excited to find a place that had good food nearby, so when we visited the other day, I ordered the 16" cheeseburger pizza and my wife ordered the large pimento burger. Well, the burger was under cooked and so she had to send it back, which wasn't that big of a deal, but my pizza was "burnt" on the bottom. I told the waitress when she brought my wife's burger back and I showed the waitress the bottom and edges were everything was either charred or burnt and she just picked it up and took it to the kitchen. Then she came back and said that is the way the "thin crust" pizzas are. I told her it not the way that it was the last and only time I had been in here or I would not have come back. So, she took it away again to see if the manager would do anything else, but she brought it back and said "to the effect" that is the way that it is, take it or leave it. No offer of money back or reduced price. I don't blame the waitress but I do blame the person in charge for very poor customer service and they won't see me in there again. 2-1-18 I called an ordered 10 wings to go. I work in Monetta which is about ten minute drive . When I got back to work and started eating wings they were warm on the outside and cold closer to the bone . I figured it was time of call In and plus drive so I kept eating , well the closer I got the chicken was raw . 3 out of 5 I ate was like that , I went back to restaurant to let them know , hoping to give me just 5 more wings since I had eaten 5 . but the lady at front counter toke the wings and showed owner , he said he would give me 2 dollars since I had eating almost all of them and threw the rest in the trash , did not even ask if I wanted them back , I didn't want my money back ( 14.00 dollars ) , just would like some done wings . First of all she told me that they boil there wings for over 1 hour and then fry them as they are ordered , and something about a deep pocket thats why they were not done at the bone . Well I have a big family we cook out a lot and when I cook leg quarters and boil them for an hour they are not raw and red at the bone , a little pink maybe, I will not come back and will tell everyone I know and work with not to eat at this restaurant. I have eaten at wizs for years, always to go though because the waitresses are pathetic and rude. In all these years I've never tried their burgers. I tried the bourbon bacon burger and it was wonderful other than the fact that the bottom bun was destroyed (who puts toppings on the bottom of a burger?) The burger itself had a great flavor, but it was poorly assembled. So I tried again, same burger, but requested no toppings this time in hopes that the bun would stay in tact. Instead they gave me toppings that don't even come on the burger, again, on the bottom bun so it was a soggy mess . This time, the burger tasted awful as well. Wiz's has lost a customer for good this time, I won't be going back. To sum it up, crappy attitude, which coincidentally they actually advertise on the front of their menu, messy restaurant, and less than appealing food. You're better off going to Wendy's or the McDonald's up the street. Just save your money, it's not worth it. read more

Great service, great food. Haven't tried anything yet that I didn't like. It can get a bit noisey when crowded. Our biggest complaint is the drinks. The sodas all taste watered down and the tea, well it is weak and sometimes tastes a little like the glasses or the container the tea is stored in was washed with a dirty dish towel. That aside, we will keep coming back. You get a lot of food for the money. We almost always take home left overs for the next day. read more
