While I'm glad there is a place that serves a variety of food in Batesburg there are several things about Wiz's that prevents me eating there unless I'm invited with a group. It's loud, there is a robot roving around and their portion sizes are ridiculous. The prices are high but I guess in proportion to the portions the price is relevant. However one can't even take a bite of a sandwich because it is so big. I just want a regular sandwich not three extra meals for the week. I ordered a French dip sandwich. It came in a metal tray and was sitting in about a cup of liquid. There was no dipping. It was completely soggy and disgusting. My partners sandwich was too big to bite. Because of the robot deliveries the waitress could barely get your table and rarely showed up to fill our drinks. Very disappointed. read more

Wife and myself ate here Saturday February 17, 2024 for the first time and we were very pleased. Not only was the service very friendly and fast, but huge portions on our plates. This is a hidden gem in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. I ordered a Chili cheese fries for appetizers and it was delivered quickly. Before I could get 1/4 through the Hugh plate, my main plate of BBQ Ribs and fries was delivered. Wow! I have never had service so fast and Huge portions whereas I just finished the Ribs and had to take the rest home. My wife had the hamburger steak and collard greens. The plate was loaded. I wish I had taken a picture to show the huge plate of food. It was delicious and she couldn't eat even half and we took the rest home. This is definitely going to be my favorite restaurant in this area, and will definitely return each weekend to try other dishes. I extremely recommend this restaurant which is located across from the WalMart shopping center. The waitress we had did an excellent job and gave great service. Only caution is if you get there after 5:30, it is super crowded because the food and value is so good. If you can get a parking spot, it will be worth the wait. Was recommended by someone in Ridge Spring, SC as a MUST try. Plans for dinner last night fell through at last minute so we went on an adventure to Batesburg-Leesville. What a find! It was a Friday night so was not surprised to find the place packed. The wait wasn't too bad (15-20 min) and we were seated. The Reuban was highly recommended so I went with that. Dinner companion had the chicken club. All the staff was very friendly, efficient and super busy. Sandwiches were serviced with their in-house made potato chips. The size of my sandwich was not to be believed~and so tasty. Pastrami is made in house; very tender and moist. I have leftovers for the next two days. Companion's chicken sandwich was also too big to finish and half of it went home in a to-go box. He said he would order it again. The tea was great. The chips were homemade, enough said. Will definitely return. The menu is very comprehensive. Could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. There is a full bar in the next room. Extremely disappointed with my recent meal and condescending treatment at this establishment. The fish was incredibly bland and when I addressed it with Cherry, the owner, her Customer Service equally lack luster. She was very condescending although I respectfully and politely started off with how everything was great except for my fish. I started with a compliment but I told her that the fish had no seasoning and it tasted like it had just been taken out the freezer and dropped in grease. She unapologetically said " Well it did, what did you expect" Then said "others got the fish and no one else complained ". (Like my opinion doesn't matter, even I'm paying for my food) And Then proceeded to say looking at my daughter "do you want to go boxes." In my mind I just knew she couldn't have included me because before she even came back I'd pushed the dish to the bartender and didn't eat the fish (that's why she was called to the table) If I didn't eat the fish at the establishment, please tell me why would I take it home! So I didn't think that she would still have it on the bill since she didn't offer to replace it. But I later discovered she didn't take it off the bill. When I told the bartender (who by the way was amazing) that my bill still had the fish on it, she told the Cheryl, the owner who came over and said "no she wasn't taking it off the bill" and patted my shoulder(a second time) and walked off. I was stunned and shocked but not shocked. As a business owner myself I would never have dismissed a customer opinion about the food that they were paying for as though they don't deserve to go out and expect the food that they ordered and willing to pay for to be tasteful and edible according to their taste and preferences. I always try to support local and give recommendations but I was dismissed and paid $100 for the dismissal. Never will I support or recommend this business again!!!!! However, let me say "Thank you" to the amazing bartenders, not only were your drinks amazing but your attitudes and customer service was as well! Something that needs to be passed on to the owner! My wife ordered a burger, I ordered a Reuben, a salad to split for the whole family to share. I finished about half my Reuben, gave some to my son and picked at the salad. In search of fish on Friday during the Lenten season, this was our first trip to Wiz's. We were pleasantly surprised. There were plenty of choices on the menu, our food came out hot, perfectly cooked and the servings were generous. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. Went out to this place for my sons birthday. It's the 2nd time I came and the service was awful both times. I tried to give them another chance. The first visit. We sat in the front lobby.The place is so loud the servers can't even hear to order. Everyone is sitting on top of each other. I got my food and it got cold before I could get a server to bring me the silverware to eat and butter and sour cream for my potato. The second time was it, and I just think everyone should know everything we saw. We was there for three hours. We had reservations at 7. They gave us the back patio for around 39 people. It took me 45 min to get a drink. Never got to order my appetizer they forgot to come to my table. We only had one waitress that was very overwhelmed. We started being our own waitress had to get our own straws etc. . We also witnessed the waitresses taking dirty dishes to the back yard and pressure washing them. So dishes are not washed and sanitized. Then the female owner kept going behind the bar and chugging wine. Not professional at all. Once we finally ordered our food it came out faster than you could cook it. They are pre cooking food and heating it up in the microwave. If I order a steak I want it fresh off the grill juices and all. No they microwave it and it was so dry. We had so many plates go back cold and incorrect. The waitress would bring the food out and say I have a steak or what ever. They did not know what table to deliver the food or who ordered what. It is such a dysfunctional establishment. Very rude including the female drunk owner that also brought a plate back that was not wanted and said she wrapped it up for her . She was told she did not eat it and it was cold take it off my bill. The owner then hard not soft or friendly hit her in the back and told her she was paying for it or they would call the law. So yes the law was called they did not have to pay for what they did not eat. The very next day this lady puts out a post about this incident. Said we was out of towners and we only wanted a free meal. We are not from out of town we are very local. We all paid for our dinner that was crap. So no we did not want a free meal. You talk about people coming in to your town. It's not your town we live here to. Just cause the owner was they Mayer omg you think y'all own everything and get respected because of title. I see why he is no longer the Mayer . They act childish and like they own the town. Never will I go back again and hope they close down. Never have I ever had such shitty service and from a supposed to be respected ex mayor!! Sticky felt-backed tablecloths, dingy & sticky top of paper towel holder, stained carpet, serve yourself lemons with a communal fork INSIDE the container... - the place is serve yourself- seat yourself, get your own high chair off the stack, get your own drinks. I have eaten at Wiz's many times and have never been disappointed. They have pretty much something everyone or anyone would want from pizza to burgers to a steak. The food is plentiful and Good! You order and pay when you go in and then you food is brought to you. Free popcorn while ya wait. The one negative I have as a Southern Guy is that their sweet tea is TERRIBLE! Not sure what they do to it but it only takes a little effort to Make Sweet Tea from scratch. They do have wine and beer plus soft drinks so there are other choices. On the weekends you might have a short wait to order as this place gets busy. It's popular because they do a great job at what they do. Wiz's is in the towns of Batesburg/ Leadville on Hwy 23. They were some of the best burgers we've had in a long while from a restaurant, and they were way larger than expected. The service was really great and the restaurant was really clean.
