I explained that I was a complete newbie, that I had a 5w rod/reel combo and that I was fishing a small pond generally. I asked him to select some flies for me based on the information that I gave him since I didn't know the first thing about selecting flies. He gave me six flies, a box and recommend some extra line. I bought it all at a cost of well over $100. The next day I was told by an experienced fly fisherman that the flies I bought were much to big for my size line. I had no idea. So I wrote to Harry's and explained that I was given the wrong size flies. No one answered my email. Today I went back to Harry's to return the products that I had purchased a few days earlier. (I live over an hour from the store) I asked the same salesperson for a refund. He refused, stating that "It would be too hard to look up." Bottom line, even though I gave the salesperson exactly the information necessary, I was offered and bought over $100 in supplies that I can not possibly use. When I told this to the salesperson today, he just shrugged his shoulders. There is no doubt that I was taken advantage of because I am new to the sport of fly fishing. Vendors like these are predators and should be called out when they do things like this that hurt hard working people who don't have money to throw away. BTW: I am a veteran of the USAF.

It is NOT a cheap adventure by any means but where else are you going to be able to shoot guns like these, under instruction with safety equipment, just for funzies? If you really want to do it, I think it's worth it! The adrenaline was a little overwhelming ! Prior to this I had very little experience with guns - simply BB guns and a 22 once in my life. THIS was VERY different, as can be expected. I am 5'1 and 98 pounds - based on my size and inexperience, there were a few guns that I was NOT allowed to choose. At first that bummed me out, however after experiencing the power of those I did choose, I understand !! IF YOURE SMALLER - THESE WILL ROCK YOU. You really need to stagger your stance and plant your front foot hard and lean into it. The guns are heavy! Again, I'm a smaller person, so these really moved me around and it was a little awkward holding something that large going off so powerfully! It was SO MUCH fun, so invigorating and I learned so much! The instructor was great, very serious and very professional as you would hope / expect. The rounds go SUPER FAST. Which you may think, well duh - but I shot 4 different guns, and 125 rounds, in a very short window. That is one thing I would say is a downside - pricey and very brief. All in all - worth every second and I'm so thankful for the experience ! It's certainly one I will NEVER forget! Would highly, highly recommend! QUICK TIP: The shells can come back at you and they're HOT so be aware! They CAN burn you and / or go down your shirt **ladies beware** furthermore, wearing long sleeves was beneficial for me even more so because I feel like it helped protect my skin where the gun would've been pressed against me without it! Service is great, welcoming and not annoyed if you're from out of town -- at least we couldn't tell -- which is more than can be said about other tackle shops in other places. If you got a kid or first timer with you and you want to get them excited, head to Melbourne Beach Pier around sunrise and you're guaranteed to catch catfish nonstop, do yourself a favor after a couple and head to Kiwanis Park at Geiger Point to make the most of your time and get some drum (can't keep them at any size in the area) and snappers.
