Plus, they stream live so you can listen anywhere. Some people think college radio is a certain kind of radio, but WRFL has both student and community helpers, so it's like a perfect hybrid. Seriously, except for maybe NPR - and WRFL has Democracy Now, so it has the best news show on the radio - I really never change my channel. I love this station.

This amazing…read moreindependent bookstore is located on Broadway, across the street from the old capitol building. Stepping inside this bookstore was simply magical and gave yesteryear vibes. The building's character, the flooring, the smell, the stacks and ladders, the cozy size, the well-placed seating throughout for relaxing and reading, and the helpful and knowledgable staff come together to provide a book store experience like no other. The store sells new and used books and everything from current best sellers and children's books to historical books. After browsing the downstairs, a trip up the steps to the attic brings a large selection of antique and historical books, magazines, and documents. In addition to books there are hand-drawn cards, mugs, book-related gifts and so much more. Do allow plenty of time to browse during your visit (adventure!) to Old Richard's. The bookstore has an indoor walkthrough to the Coffeetree Cafe next next door, which is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee drink and flip through your book purchases!

Kentucky Monthly magazine is a quality publication that I always look forward to reading. It is well balanced with a variety of topics of interest to most Kentuckians. Regular departments include Kentucky Kwiz, Across Kentucky, Curiosities, Cooking, Explore 120 Eats (A Quest to Taste Kentucky's Best), People, Off the Shelf, Field Notes, and Calendar. Of course all magazines contain advertising but the ads you'll find in Kentucky Monthly are all Kentucky related and blend with the contents of the magazine. I always find something of interest to read in the magazine. Even if I didn't the Guide to Kentucky's most interesting events at the end of the magazine provides a valuable tool for planning extra activities. It is not only broken down by dates it is also listed by regions (Bluegrass, Louisville, Northern, Western, and Southern). I've read the November Issue but now I'm outlining activities I don't want to miss in November.
