Hands down the best Chinese BBQ restaurant in Riverdale! The service is polite and efficient. The takeout counter is at the front of the restaurant. Although their name has changed over the years from Ka Ka Lucky to Wok & Roast Chinese BBQ, their ample menu offerings have consistently remained great. It's an East Chinatown institution! Came here for the BBQ dishes on rice (roast pork and BBQ pork) along with an appetizer order of Sweet & Sour Soup (more sweet and sour than hot and sour). Time and time again, their food is always exceptionally delicious. Left here with an extra large order of Braised Tofu to go.

Food was amazing, price for great Definitely recommend 5 star. Staff was nice and atmosphere good as it gets for a momma pop restaurant

There isn't a lot of good Chinese restaurants in East Chinatown. This bbq place isn't go to for Chinese bbq. Ambiance: Your typical Chinese bbq place with bbq meat hanging from the window that's how you know it's authentic! The restaurant is small with only a few smaller tables. Service: I ordered take out it as super fast! Food: I ordered one meal with one bbq item ( roasted duck ) for only $9 and 2 bbq items ( bbq pork and roasted pork) for the second meal for $11 in small size. Price is very good. The meal also comes with broccoli. I also ordered the hot and sour soup which was so tasty with strips of bbq pork, bamboo shoots, small shrimps and fungus with tofu. So tasty and spicy. First time having this soup here and it was delicious! The bbq meats was fresh and flavourful.

I came to Old Broadview Chinatown to try "Completo," a Latin restro a couple of doors down. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with may tacos at Completo and was still hungry. This Chinese BBQ spot got my attention, so I popped in and ordered me some good old BBQ Pork & Soya chicken to eat at home. Don't remember "Wok & Roast Chinese BBQ," but it's been at least 5 years since I've been in this area because most Chinese restaurants have moved to Markham. A lot has changed in the area. When I got home, I did reheat my food because I prefer it hot, not warm. Keeping that in mind, it would have tasted better if I ate immediately. The meal came with my request meats and some broccoli. The BBQ Pork was solid. It was tender and had a good mix of fat and lean pork. The BBQ pork sauce was also a nice balance of sweet and savory. The Soya Chicken was good as well, but I wish they had included some ginger-scallion sauce. I'm not sure if this was even an option here. Even after microwaving, the rice was good, surprisingly not mushy, considering I asked for extra sauce over everything. I would come again if I'm in the neighborhood. For those wondering why only 3 stars if I enjoyed the food? Well, my rating would actually be 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't do half stars, and 2nd, I've been spoiled with great Chinese BBQ... that is "HKS Barbecue & Noodle House" located at First Markham Place. Don't get me wrong, this spot is good, but not I gotta drive 30 min to get my fix Chinese BBQ good. The service was quick and friendly. The decor is tasteful, causal, welcoming, and clean. If you have a craving for Chinese BBQ in the east end of the city, give this spot a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed... My 2 cents.

Wok & Roast is a traditional Chinese BBQ restaurant with the BBQ items on display at the front window. They also offer dishes commonly found in most Chinese restaurants in the GTA. I ordered a large BBQ duck on rice take out during my visit. The BBQ duck tasted alright, and came with a side of broccoli. The large size was not worth it, as the extra BBQ duck was mostly bone. Service was fast. Street parking available. The neighborhood is served by TTC line 506.

Roast Pork for DOGS this was the worst roast pork I had ever seen and tried to eat. Bland and difficult to eat!
    Do L.

I wondered if they changed owners in the last 5 months? Food was hard to eat I asked for a small bite size and the butcher cut them into DOG size bites, and it was bland! I came downtown for this garbage and they raised the pieces and it surely doesn't reflect it. Anyone else attempt to go here I hope anyone goes here have a better experience. Otherwise I look forward to the next 10 reviews if I should return ever again. Alternative goto Golden Stone at Spadina and Dundas their roast pork is extra crispy and better service! I went their last week!

If you love BBQ Pork & Roast Pork, this place has the best of it! I have tried a lot of Chinese BBQ place, but this place hits the best, always! Bbq pork seasoned perfectly and its juicy. The Roast Pork skin is so cripsy! Even we got the pig ear. However, we ask for sauce, and the person who usually serve us only stared at us. I guess she is not in the mood. This place was full of people! Cause they know the best bbq in Toronto is here! Follow me on instagram @astravel_eats

A great place for quick and tasty cantonese food in cabbagetown. Visited many times and the food keeps you coming back for some comfort chinese food. Meats are tender and well seasoned. Its close to riverdale park so grab some takeout and enjoy it while soaking in the great views from the park.

This is my go-to place for Chinese BBQ and roasted meats on the way home from work. This place is especially busy during the Chinese New Year holiday eve and expect to wait a minimum of 30 minutes or more. It's just how it is this time of year. Although you don't have to worry that they will run out because they know to make a lot more to serve the extra customers that come in just for this occasion. I ended up getting a free-range poached chicken, 2 lbs of roasted pork, and a whole roasted duck for about $75 dollars. I think that is pretty fair tbh. During the "off-peak" season, you can generally walk into this place with nary a line-up to be seen and be on your way with the delicious BBQ and roasted meats. I find the prices to be quite fair for what you get. You can ask the chef to pick different styles of cuts for the roasted pork (fatty, medium, or lean) or select the best roasted duck hanging in the display window. This place is also a restaurant although I've never been hungry enough to come here to try the menu.

A little blurry, but still good. Renovations have been good to this place.

Guys, guys. I usually associate the east Chinatown with restaurants that are empty and a little rundown. However, this one definitely wasn't! Even the bathrooms were new and spotless. Renovations were good to this place! Meanwhile, the food: the menu is a little unfriendly (no pictures, no descriptions, just lists upon lists in a tiny font) but after you get through that, the food comes to the table super fast. They definitely don't oversalt things; we ordered the crispy half-chicken, and it came with its own little bowl of salt and pepper. It was a little strange, but it's definitely good for people who like to have control over their salt intake. We also ordered the rice with chicken and vegetables-- this honestly didn't look appetizing, but it tasted like congee. The highlight was the chowmein noodles. The noodles weren't soaking in sauce, so they were still crunchy, which gave the dish great texture. And at the end, there were free slices of watermelon. All in all, we ate a meal for four people and it cost $28.00. In tapas-crazed Toronto where "sharing plates" mean two dehydrated chicken wings for $18, I think this is a bargain worth having again. And again. And again. Added bonus: it's close to Wong's if you want some great ice-cream for dessert!

3 kinds bbq on rice. Large $8.50. Soya chicken , BBQ pork, duck

Ok. Wok and roast has slowly slipped down the abysmal path of crappy food since the Reno. We have had numerous bad meals in the last two months. Today was the worst. Braised tofu. $2 - 2 squares. Was made yesterday. Very gritty. Lacked flavour. 2 bbq chicken wings $5. Yesterdays food as well. Chewy Cantonese chow menu. Just horrible. Over stretch. Huge Chunks of chicken & pork. Chewy squid. Old shrimp. One piece of scallop. Watery not crispy noodle. $12 General Tao chicken. Just horrible. Could have been pork for all I know. A mess of sweet and sour sauce. And over cooked deep fried chicken. $13 Service indifferent. I feel like they plied crap on us because we aren't Chinese. We went at least 3 times a month. Never going again. The east end is done with good Chinese. The mall court at Gerrard square for 1/2 the price. Is comparable to what we got today. The owner knows us. And I can't believe she would serve this crap to us. Or anyone else. Also the Reno was last year. Clean the chandeliers & floors and mirrors. Since the increase in minimum wage they of course raised prices. But almost 30%. For shittier food.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it.
