Food was alright... We got a couple of the lamb, squid and sausage skewers. All of them came out lukewarm. The lamb was very tender however a bit more seasoning would've been better. DO NOT get the squid. It didn't even come on a skewer and the portion size was tiny. Not good either. We also got some of the side dishes...the one in the picture with cucumber, beef and peanuts was delicious! We got an order of the One Plus One fried rice....never again as it was literally just fried rice with raisins (first for me), frozen veg, and 5 little shrimps. We also got an order of the fried spicy eggplant. I WOULD COME BACK JUST FOR THIS. The eggplant was lightly breaded and fried and tossed in chili's and other veggies. So delicious! It does take

Recently came back for some more lamb skewers and chicken skewers. Calling ahead to place our order saved us from waiting in the parking lot for 30 minutes. When we got there the parking lot was practically empty so I'm sure why they said it was a busy night. In any case, we only waited 5 additional minutes after we got there. Skewers still tasted great! I have no complaints and we will be back again soon.

First time we visited One Plus One BBQ, everything were great! Food was hot, flavourful and delicious. We thought we had found a new go to place for Chinese style barbecue. Slightly cheaper than other places in the area. Second time however, everything were subpar. Together we had the sweet potato chips, barbecue vegetables, eggplant, lamb skewer, and soy sheets (tofu skin). Certain items were lukewarm. Soy sheets were not fresh and tasted as if they were about to turn bad. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. If I want food that is about to go bad, I can find hidden items at the back of my fridge, not at a restaurant.

Lamb and beef skewers (4 for $5.99)

Good prices and portions on the skewers. I highly recommend the lamb skewers as they were the juiciest out of all the ones we ordered. Seasoned perfectly and not too spicy, however it did take about 15 minutes to come out. Service is exactly what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant - close to non-existent (but I guess what they say is true.. the worse the service is at a Chinese place, the better the food?) Overall, a great Chinese BBQ place that's open late and has many menu options.

First time here for dinner, ive only been here before for a late night snack since they do close late! And wow... didnt know they were so popular. All tables were booked and long line ups. Thank god i got a table shortly as it was still early, around 6ish. Always love their skewers of any kind. Strong flavours and is on the salty side for some people. But my mom loved it. This time, we also tried the fish pot. Thats was good too, but ill stick with the skewers. Lastly the cold noodle appetizer, i lovedddd it. Mainly cuz ive been craving for it for a bit lol Heres what I got: Cold noodle appetizer Lamb skewers Beef skewers Chicken heart skewers Bean curs roll skewers Fish pot with Veggies, fungus, bean curd and noodles. Would definitely come back!

I've lost count on the amount of times I've visited this place. The food here are affordable and so yummy! Pictures posted are from different occasions. Must order: 1) pig ears in green onion. I've never tried it (don't like pig ears) but my friend loves this. We order it every time and within 8 minutes you'll see a clear plate. You can ask for a bit of spice to be added if you like spicy. 2) skewers! Personal favourite is their famous ribs and lamb. The ribs are a bit on the spicy side but the favouring is perfect! The lambs are tender and don't have the stinky lamb after taste. 3) bbq potatoes chips. It's hit or miss, when it's good, the chips are crunchier than the best chips you've ever taste. The spices used taste like the ones on the bbq skewer meats. If you plan to come with a large group, best to reserve. The place is almost ALWAYS packed.

    Jelly noodles in sesame sauce

Food is decent for the most part. However, the restaurant needs better ventilation and a serious scrub down. The best of the night was jelly noodles in sesame sauce - no wonder almost every table had an order. Kungpao chicken came next and was disappointing with unevenly cut, over-seasoned chicken bits. Lamb skewers weren't bad. The dry pot cauliflower had nice flavour, but more than half the dish was onion, chilli and other inedibles. More cauliflower! Please and thank you. Not very impressed with the atmosphere (think grimy floors, smokey air), or service. But I would come back for the cold noodles (take out).

I went to this restaurant with one other person, on a monday night. as it is the start of the work week. the restaurant was not too busy. This restaurant one of the many in Scarborough in northern style Chinese BBQ, so unlike traditional Cantonese style with the sweet and salty flavor that is dominant. The northern style is more spicy and savory. The things that are must try for any bbq restaurant is of course the BBQ Lamb Skewers. , i ordered those as well as the BBQ spicy pork rib, Chicken Gizzard, and Mussels. The BBQ meat at this restaurant is pretty good, the meat is tender and just write, and the spicy pork ribs is very different then most available in toronto, and is definitely recommended. I do enjoy spicy, however i would suggest those who cannot take spicy to be careful as this restaurant has a stronger spice then others. The Mussels for this restuarants is not bad however i would suggest for more then 2 people you need definetely a bigger portion cause it is very small meat and you will finish it quickly. The vegetable we ordered the spicy and sour shredded potato, has a good wok flavour, however i find the spicyness is too overpowering and not much sour flavour into it. The service in this place is not bad they were very efficient with the food, and the water. overall i find that although the flavour was not bad, and most dishes they cook pretty wel, they do seem to favour a heavier flavour then most other bbq restaurants, which for some people and i know a few who commented throughout this restaurant is the one thing they prefer them to do less of. i would go again to this restuarant of course

Signature sweet and sour pork ($10.99) and some beef and lamb skewers. Strongly recommend the pork dish.

Went there for dinner, just got their signature dish and some skewers (it is a Northern Chinese BBQ place after all). Their signature dish is the golden sweet and sour pork. First of all, the breading is very crispy, not soggy at all like many sweet and sour pork served at many places; you could also tell that they fried it fresh on the spot. Second of all, the portion is huge and because of the tanginess from their special lemon/citrus sauce, you won't feel bad near the end having eaten all the breading and gooey sweet sauce. I think the dish is only $10.99 or $11.99, definitely a steal. Their skewers are above average but not outstanding. If you prefer skewers with lots of spices, these should satiate your taste buds. Service could be better and the place is always crowded during dinner time. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes after 7 pm. The places opens at 5 pm so 5-7 pm is usually the best time.

Came here to try out their skewers as I'm a huge fan of lamb skewers. Though they are cheaper than where I usually go at $4.99 for 4 skewers, you must order in 4s for most of the skewers, which becomes more expensive. Also, they are way too salty for my taste. I'm realizing after seeing another review that I could have asked for less salt and less MSG, but their standard flavouring shouldn't be that salty. The fried vegetable dishes were also basically swimming in oil. The caramelized sweet potato was actually pretty good, so crispy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Would actually come back to try the caramelized taro. Likely wouldn't come back here, but if I did I would definitely ask for less oil/less salt/less MSG. Or maybe try one of the hotpots that I saw other tables having.

My first visit for take out was very disappointing. Only ordered a few meat skewers thinking it would be fast. A large table next to me came in later and started ordering after 10 minutes after I paid for my take out. Because they were dining in with tips, they got 5+ dishes and a handful of meat skewers before I got to see my order. WTF! Food not cheap compared to similar food stalls around. I gave a star for the lamb skewers that were more meaty but still loaded with MSG. The skewers that boasted crispy bones were too hard to bite into. Which means it was way too expensive as less than 10% was edible. These skewers costs $5 for 4 skewers not including tax.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this.
