I want to share an example of how thorough and knowledgeable Dr. Muff is - my one tooth was causing me sharp sensitivity to liquid, that started a few months ago. The dentist I WAS seeing at the time said there was nothing to worry about.. well upon arrival to Dr. Muff's she examined the area (which at one point had a filling done that was poorly done) and insisted I see an endodontist for a potential root canal.. as that is what she suspected was needed. Shortly after, I got into the specialist she recommended, and the imaging/specialist indeed confirmed I needed a root canal! My tooth already feels better. I had my initial evaluation and X-rays done on October 10th. I was told I needed a dental cleaning…read moreand a significant amount of additional work, and that treatment could begin as soon as my cleaning was completed. That's where everything started to go downhill. It took until January 19th just to get in for the first half of my cleaning--yes, they only clean one half of your mouth at a time. The hygenist did a good job. Then it took until March 24th to schedule the second half. When I showed up on time for that appointment, I was told my X-rays had expired and I would need a new set for insurance reimbursement. Completely unacceptable. On top of that, my appointments were canceled multiple times, and I kept getting strung along with delays. At one point, they even tried to blame me for cancellations that were clearly on their end. Now, nearly six months later, I still haven't received any actual dental treatment, and I'm being told I may need another round of X-rays. Meanwhile, my dental health has only gotten worse. If you're okay with endless delays, rude communication, and zero accountability, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Perio cleaning can be painful, best case scenario is to get it done quick. Fast forward and Loraine is gone. Replaced by a much, much less experienced hygienist. I only needed the bottoms cleaned. The top had a temporary, as I was in the process of getting implants. I told her, but she evidently didn't understand and she started scrapping at the temporary and disrupted an implant. There are other perio offices, some really close. I go there now. Guess what? I even found Loraine!

I am still shaky, ashamed, humiliated and traumatized; I thought I got hit by a truck after I left his office. My story with his office began on 11/22/22. I called his office and they got my insurance information. I got a call back from them that my co-pay would be $37 for my first consultation with him. After my consultation with him, he recommended braces for me because I had a receding gum on one front tooth and it started to slide down. I also have an implant on tooth number eight. I asked him if the braces was the best treatment for me although I have an implant, have Osteoporosis and I am 56 years old. He said he's 100% sure that the braces would be the best option for me to fix the problem. I went ahead with his recommendations and I got braces. I went for my second visit with the ortho, and I was told my four front teeth started to get loose, especially the implanted tooth. The ortho removed the braces from the implant and gave me a referral to go back to see the periodontist who had recommended the braces to check the implant out. I called the periodontist office and automatically my name was flagged because I have osteoporosis, therefore they won't be able to see me as per the periodontist. He recommended braces yet he did not want to deal with any issues. After conversing back-and-forth, I managed to get an appointment for April 21, 2023. A week after I made this appointment I got a bill from them that I already settled with them and paid my co-pay when I was there last visit. I went ahead and called my insurance to find out why I received this bill. The insurance representative told me that probably they put the wrong code. She said next time you go there make sure to tell them to change the code from last visit and put the right code. On April 21, I got to the office and I met with his assistant who looked miserable. I told her what the insurance told me she looked at me and said "your insurance is asking us to commit fraud, you need to settle this issue with the front office" and I said no problem. I also told her that the periodontist already knows I have osteoporosis, a receding gum and a tooth implant from the previous visit but still recommended the braces for me and now my four front teeth are all loose so I need to know what to do next. I don't know what the assistant told him, but he came to the room very angry. He started interrogating me for 20 minutes about the insurance, and kept saying with a clenched fist how angry he is with insurance in general.I waited for this appointment for almost 4 weeks I apologized to him many times; I said "please forgive me" and "I'm very sorry". I said "please have mercy and just see what's going on with my teeth". When his assistant told me that I should solve the insurance problem with the front desk, I thought the subject was closed with the insurance.I was stunned because I have never seen a doctor so angry about discussing insurance issues during the consultation with a patient. "Satan from hell " not only did he deny my right of treatment, but he was beyond rude. The money and greed made him unable to distinguish between right and wrong on one hand; on the other hand he knows he messed up by recommending braces for me which can cause me to lose my four front teeth. He doesn't want to take responsibility for his mistake therefore he treated me with the worst possible way that no human being deserves. His assistant came and said here is your paper work go to another periodontist. At this point, I felt hopeless and I started crying because this periodontist gave me an incorrect diagnosis and delayed my treatment plus his misconduct forced me to call the police. From my very first phone call to the office, I felt cared for. Kelly answered my call, listened to everything I was going through, and managed to get me in for an emergency appointment within a few hours!!! Dr. McKenna was absolutely wonderful. He truly listened, explained every step clearly, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. His assistant (I feel so awful forgetting her name!) was just as amazing. So kind, gentle, and reassuring. You can really tell how well the whole team works together. Before starting the root canal treatment, Dr. McKenna explained every step and made sure I was fully numb, something my last dentist didn't even bother with, even though my filling was deep. Dr. McKenna fixed the poor filling from that previous dental office and discovered bacteria under the tooth that was causing my pain. My previous dentist had insisted nothing was wrong and left me to deal with on and off pain and no antibiotics for months!! I then went to another practice, as the pain became excruciating, same thing and said I had to wait at least until the end of the week until next months schedule opens for root canals. However, Dr. McKenna found the real issue right away and treated it properly. While explaining the X-rays and what they show. I'm still healing, but I already feel so much better and finally heard. I can't thank Dr. McKenna and his team enough. They've earned a new lifelong patient! I had an appointment scheduled and their phone calls did not go through for me since I had call screening in the new iOS so I never got their voicemails. they called me wife whos number they had because I had her listed as a contact for me and she confirmed my appointment for today 10/6. They kept sending me texts, none of which said they'd cancel my appt, but I ignored them since they already talked to my wife. I show up today for my appointment to be met with the most rude unprofessional attitude one could imagine, no understanding or empathy whatsoever, they also made billing errors previously and insisted they were correct until one of the higher ups at my dental insurance spoke with them regarding their coding errors and finally fixed things, otherwise they were ready to mistakenly keep coming after me for money i didnt owe them. You'll be happy with The dental care if you are able to deal with the office staff, but there must be alternatives in the area where you can get treated with dignity kindness and respect at the front desk without confusing and poorly coordinated scheduling policies while also getting great dental care.
