You get put in rotation with wellness visits. I called for a sick visit, and had to wait almost 2 months. At the visit they told me I needed a full exam, labs, an ultrasound, a mammogram, and a follow up appt. When I went to schedule all of those (except mammogram), I again had to wait more than 2 months. Taking almost half a year to diagnose a sick visit is wild. It took so long for the appointment, nearly all visible symptoms were gone. So, naturally, they were unable to diagnose the issue. I was told to just wait for it to reappear. Their pricing is so high, that even with insurance, my office visits cost shy of $400 each visit. I needed 3 different procedures from their office, and asked the doctor if there was any medical reason why I could not have them all done in the same day, and was told they could all be done in the same day. Got to the front desk, they told me it was not possible because 1 was preventive and the other 2 were diagnostic so they split them up into 3 separate appointments. So, I had to pay shy of $700 (for 2 office visits since only the preventive visit is fully covered) instead of paying for just one office visit. This is not only ridiculously expensive, but also extremely inconvenient for those that work the same hours the office is open. Then at my ultrasound appointment, my ultrasound tech, Georgette, was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was extremely upset that I was asking questions about the ultrasound, i.e. is the ultrasound internal, external, or both, what determines if a biopsy is needed, what is the after care, etc. She got so upset that she pointed to the ultrasound machine and said, "I'm gonna take that wand, stick inside you and it's going to take pictures!" and then slammed my file on the counter, said that someone should have already answered my questions, refused to continue the conversation and left the room to go get my doctor. Once the doctor came into the room and we proceeded with the procedure, Georgette kept sticking the wand in places that were no where near where it was supposed to go. I got confused and asked the doctor to confirm it was internal not external and it was confirmed it was internal. So, I told Georgette she was not putting the wand in the right place and was causing pain to the other areas she was jabbing it. She again got upset and said, "do you wanna just put it in yourself?". So, I ended up having to insert the wand myself because my ultrasound tech, who gets paid to do this......couldn't find the vaginal opening. I've had drunk guys do a better job at finding it. She remained rude throughout the whole entire procedure and at the end just left without saying a word. Not here's the results, here's what I looked at, here's what I found or didn't find. Nothing. So, in summary, it took a total of 3 visits, almost 6 months and almost $1,000 (after paying office visits, labs, follow up appts. etc) rude and unprofessional treatment from their tech, all to be told....they don't know and let it reappear. No, and thank you. After nearly 2 decades, I have left that practice.

My most recent appointment was with Amanda (my previous Doc has retired) and I think she might be my favorite Doctor I have ever had. Her nurse was equally awesome. They were sooo supportive and still extremely direct and transparent with me. My appointment was for 9am on a Tuesday, I had calls lined up right away (cutting it a little too close, if I am being honest) and so when they requested blood work I panicked. Not because needles (watching my husband's cancer treatments has completely numbed me to any heebie jeebies from needles LOL) but because I am a busy lady! I asked if I could schedule it for another time in the week and they told me to just come back in at my convenience that same day! WHAT?! The Dr. told me to come at MY convenience?! You might want to read that again because I still cannot believe it myself. Anyway, I can't get over how great this practice is.

I have been a bit confused with the low rating for all womens care florida locations. I have been…read moregoing to this practice for the duration of a high risk pregnancy so I have had quite a few appointments and I feel I can speak to the both the good and the bad at this point. The good: They are very friendly and helpful especially at the gibsonton location. I have never felt hurried or rushed to get out and my questions are always answered. I also have really liked the afterhours/nurse question line. I have never felt like I was an inconvenience or like my questions were dumb. My appointments have mostly been prompt and wait times low. I also like that you can be seen at any location for what is most convenient that day. They also have later appointments available when needed. They tend to err on the side of caution without being overly panicky over every little thing which makes me feel like I'm in competant hands. Over all it's been a positive experience. The bad: I have had A LOT of appointments here, I cant stress that enough. That being said, there have been some cancellations and changes that happened hours before my appts and I was not notified of these changes which has been irritating especially when work schedules are being re arranged for the appt. I have been told that's because their new phone system will not call Hawaii or Puerto Rico phone numbers which to be frank, is ridiculous. I guess I could see not being able to call Puerto Rico, but island or no, Hawaii is still a state so I feel like when getting a new phone system, making sure the states it can call are equal to the number of stars on the flag should have been at least in the top 5 questions asked, especially in a military heavy community. One thing that does need work is test results. These are usually not available automatically online until you remind them they aren't there. Also, I have never once gotten a phone call with my results. This process truly needs some optimization or the patients as a group need to be told what the process is to get lab results to curb all the confusion. This seems to be a common issue. Something to watch out for, especially for new patients through a VA referral: Gibsonton does not do in house billing. Their billing is done through brandon at a satellite billing office and forwarded to their central billing in tampa. The girls up front at gibsonton, for whatever reason, like to speak about billing the va but they truly have no idea what they are talking about. I ended up in a bit of a mess because they were adamant that if you have private insurance you cannot bill va as prime, which is actually 100%false and against regulations regarding government payers. It ended up being a bit of a mess to untangle, but just skip over them and call brandon with your billing questions save yourself some heartache. Finally, the neutral: I do not actually have a specific doctor at this practice. I have been told that is because we wont know which doc will be on call when I go into labor so they wanted me to interact with everyone. This makes sense to me, and although there are some docs I like more than others I'm not too concerned about who's going to catch my baby, they all seem pretty good to me. That being said, I'm pretty laid back all things considered, so of you are not it's a good thing to know that you might not get the same docevery time. The downside of this is in the third trimester, i kind of feel like I should be over meeting new docs and having to start over with my specific list of issues with a brand new doc after a year of semi problematic neonatal care. Not a super big deal but at 8.5 months, you kind of get a bit edgier and adverse to change I suppose. I hate to end on a bad note, because at the end of the day, these are normalish things that happen in a year long relationship with any medical provider and I honestly would still recommend them to others. But it's always good to know that there is an honest accounting of areas where any business could improve especially when starting out on a pregnancy

I can't say enough good things about Charlie. I was planning my second home birth when I found out…read moremy baby had some health concerns and would need to be born in a hospital. I started calling home birth midwives for doula referrals, and I was so lucky to connect with Charlie. She truly brought a piece of the home birth experience into the hospital room. Charlie was a fierce advocate, not only for me, but also an incredible source of support for my husband. She brought a sense of peace and calm to what felt like a very unknown and overwhelming situation. I felt completely safe with her by my side. Charlie helped us talk through every decision, making sure we felt informed and confident in our choices. Her support didn't end after the birth either, she consistently checked in postpartum and continued to care for our whole family. I truly can't recommend Charlie enough. She is an amazing, steady, and calming presence. Whether you're planning a home birth or just looking for strong, compassionate birth support, you are in the very best hands with Charlie. Her care extends beyond just mom, she supports the entire family.

I'm currently in the process of taking Barefoot Birth to court for money I prepaid for their…read moreservices. I made a prepayment before 36 weeks and it is not being returned. I informed them I would be transferring care at 32 weeks. I told the owner that I would pay for any prenatal appointments I went to, but she made a bill with fees I was not aware of. My invoice was the exact amount I prepaid which is very suspicious. The invoice even said my $500 deposit was a charge for some reason instead of applied to my balance like the contract states. The invoice seemed to be made in a rush and its purpose to zero out my account so they could keep my money. I will add my entire experience after court. In the meantime, if you choose this midwifery, ask them to outline their fees and what you owe after every appointment to avoid this. Overall disappointed with Charlie's (owner) handling of this issue.
