Howie and Chad did an amazing job on our project, which involved refinishing a 100+ year old fir floor as well as installing new oak floors. We chose to go with Wood Floor Concepts after being impressed with the time Howie took in walking through the house and providing an estimate. it was clear from the beginning that he is an expert craftsman who knows everything about wood floors. Howie even took the time to explain the intricacies of the flooring to us so we could make an educated decision. Of the multiple bids we received, Howie and Chad were the only ones to recognize the potential in refinishing the fir floors that lay underneath layers of cheap covering, adhesive and other debris. Throughout the process, Howie remained in touch frequently, updating us on anything he encountered along the way. He was very reliable with pricing, and stuck to the bid. Howard and Chad were absolutely fantastic; they not only gave us a good price on installing hardwood flooring on two of our three levels, but when the job took multiple unexpected turns that required more time and materials than they initially ancipated, they were true to their agreements and word, completing the work as quickly as they could while stepping up to make sure we got the quality they expected from themselves, even when we couldn't or didn't appreciate how much better things would look when done properly. This install could absolutely have turned into a screaming nightmare for both them and us, and they handled it with professionalism and ethics that you rarely see in home repair providers. Howard and his son were amazing. We had just purchased a home and the original owners attempted to refinish the flooring on their own and did a terrible job. We were not sure if we were going to have to tear it out and replace but Mr. Cruthers to the rescue! The 1st image below shows the original state, the 2nd shows when they were sanding the floors down to the bones and the last is how beautiful the stain came out on our Cherry floors. They cleaned up their mess daily and kept the lines of communication open. We highly recommend them! If they say they can do it, they can. If they tell you it isn't possible, it probably isn't. :) **Side note, the sanding is considered "dustless" because of the vacuum system that they have but there is still lots of dust. We had to have all of our blinds and windows cleaned after the fact. It wasn't a big deal, it was worth it because our flooring is absolutely beautiful. Just want to give you a heads up. May be good to remove the curtains or blinds etc first. Less to dust. read more

We are obsessed with our newly refinished floors. Howard and Chad did an outstanding job! From the get go, we knew this would be the company we would use to refinish our scratched and discolored American Cherry wood floors. They came by promptly for a free in-home estimate. It was immediately evident how knowledgeable they were as they explained the process from start to finish- how it was to be done, and what we could expect. The price was very fair (we had other estimated that were outrageous). We knew we wanted a different look, but even midway through sanding, we still didn't know what we wanted that to be. They were patient, offered suggestions and even marked out an inconspicuous place on the floor to put down some sample stains. Since our wood has a natural pink undertone, we really needed to see how the stain took to the wood. They even went out of their way to find us a stair board with our type of wood so that could be stained and moved around from area to area. We were able to see the colors in different light and side by side for comparison. They offered suggestions, opinions and showed us many projects they had done so that we could get even more ideas. We considered staying super light but didn't like the pink undertone coming through. We went darker than we originally thought we would, but we love the richness it gives our downstairs. The entire process took just over a week, and there was literally almost zero dust anywhere! They were easy to get ahold of, and were professional, friendly and meticulous the entire time. Without a doubt I would recommend Wood Floor Concepts! As far as dark wood....even though the look is amazing, it does show EVERYTHING. If starting from scratch, American Cherry is not as hard as other woods, so I probably wouldn't recommend it with kids and pets (our dog is now living in booties that she dislikes because she's put a fair amount of scratches in the wood already). If you already have the cherry wood, play with your stain choices. You may be surprised how it takes the colors. Aged Barel is what we went with, and we love it. Howard and Chad are fantastic. Not only did the finished project turn out wonderful (needed some of my hardwood replaced and then the whole area sanded/refinished due to water damage), but they were communicative, professional, and honest throughout the whole process. Even when there were unexpected curveballs (stain color given by the builder was incorrect) they worked with us and used their extensive knowledge to get back on the right track quickly. We could not be more pleased with out amazing wood floor restoration! We discovered original wood floors under the gross carpet in our 1940's house, and Chad and Howard did an amazing job bringing them back to life. The floors were in rough shape after years of carpet staples, paint, and other assorted stains. There was also a small part that had been replaced at some point and didn't match the rest of the wood. They sanded them down and got rid of the imperfections and were able to blend new wood into the weird patch so that it wasn't noticeable at all. They took the time to explain the different treatment options and we went with the oil based stain which looks beautiful. There were lots of color choices and Howard made samples for us so we could see what they would look like on our floors. We love the color we chose (we kept it pretty natural looking, but they had some really interesting colors too!) and the wood floors really exceeded our expectations. We thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of work they put in, and for the value the new floors have added to our home. read more
