Provided that one's idea of a great pizza is not "Domino's" or the local "2 large pies for $9 special" this spot serves arguably the best pizza and drinks in the area. Growing up in Brooklyn and trying nearly all of the best pizza spots in and around NYC over the last 35 years, I can without a doubt say that Woodstack's pizzas are definitively better than Motorino and equally as satisfying as Keste. The breadmakers here are masters at their craft, combined with a sauce that is simple and tangy. And this is the secret of their pies. The pies are innovative with ingredients work great together and the menu items that I have tried thus far have been solid. I'm super glad that this place exists, while they don't have a clam pie or something similar to a "Totonnos" pie I really do enjoy the pizza here. read more

Loved this place, look forward coming back. Ambiance was very classy. Sat at the bar was immediately greeted by the two bartenders. Very friendly and attentive bartenders, I ordered a margarita which was only $5. I was so surprised it contained several nice size round shaped ice cube and a lemon slice with a perfect rim of salt. This was my highlight of my day. It was definitely a wooossaa moment. Deep breathe.. I ordered the rice balls , which came out pretty quick. They were tasty and filling. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for dinner. But I will return very soon. A stop I highly recommend. I went back a week later. It was pretty full must use valet parking which takes longer to leave. We had a party 15 and stayed by the bar at first. Bartender had it under control, everyone had their drinks. We were directed to our table a few left. Placed orders and I shared several appetizers and shared a grandma pizza. The crusty bread was very good. Meatballs were delicious. My pizza was blah. It was okay. Nothing to get excited about. All these wood-fired oven places want to create a perfect Neapolitan pizza when maybe Neapolitan pizza isn't exactly the greatest pizza? While I am Italian born and of course cherish the wonderful pizzas in Italy, I believe pizza was perfected right here in the US. So for me, trying to be a Neapolitan pizza in NY or NJ just because you have a wood-fired oven might just be missing the point. And so another wood-fired pizzeria strikes out. read more

Not only did the date go incredibly well but the food was outstanding which played a notable role in making sure we had a wonderful first encounter with one another. Now ever year we go back to celebrate our important milestone every year in May and we have so far not yet been disappointed. Excellent all around menu with quality meats and fish and many vegan and vegetarian options. Awesome new place on 46 in pine brook! The outside is just gorgeous and totally made me want to check out what was inside - it was very different from the restaurant that was previously there. Once inside I loved the look and feel. The lumberjack/lumberjill theme totally hit the spot and it shone in all aspects. It's a really large space! As for the yummies: They make their own bread, pizza doughs, and pastas in house. [[Hubs thinks they make their own cheeses too, but I don't remember that line. ]] Food was great. You get bread and butter! Bread was hearty and had yummy air pockets. We ordered the meatballs, the seppe pizza, and 30 hour porcetta. No complaints with anything. Meatballs were really good - and was over this creamy goodness that I don't think I've ever had before. Pizza was a good size and the fresh ingredients on top really shone through. Porcetta - 30 hours is crazy and I'd never seen anything like that. it was super crispy almost like it was fried. It came with these awesome crispy fingerling potatoes too. Beers are from breweries in the area - mostly drafts from NJ which is super cool. There is a number of wines available by glass and even more available by bottle. There is also a cool cocktail list suit to fit many different tastes, including an N.Y.F.A.P (not your fathers Arnold palmer) complete with bourbon, ginger liqueur, iced tea, and charred lemon. Cool! The quality of the food is just SO SURPRISING for this New Jersey joint. It certainly offers NYC/NY Times rated food. The menu is solid, albeit a bit small, but EVERYTHING I have tasted is truly delicious and "re-orderable"! The Maitre d' and the staff offer up smiling hospitality and I always feel welcome. Love coming here to dine in or even take out. Pizza, wings and ribs are great. The atmosphere is really chill but has a more "upscale" vibe. If I have family coming to town I can always look to this place for a casual night out. Came last night and had Yeseni as our waitress to our table of 4 and she was SO GREAT! Very kind, friendly and personable. She went above and beyond to make our experience at Woodstack really fun, my entire table enjoyed her and enjoyed our light conversation with her too. The food was great, ordered Margherita, Grandma and Peppa Pig. For apps we did the wings and ribs. My only suggestion is to order the wings WELL DONE! You'll thank me later.. The only place I had pizza like was in the village over 15 years ago. The first time I ate wood fired pizza I ate 2 pies myself lol. Wood Stack Pizza Kitchen is everything I hoped it would be and more. My friends and I stopped in for a late lunch and I immediately got good vibes from this spot. I'm not sure if it was the friendly staff, the open floorplan, the stellar drink & cocktail menu, or the beautiful wood-fired ovens in the kitchen - maybe it was all the above. This restaurant has the hallmarks of a quality place to enjoy good food and good drinks. My friends and I ordered several pies. Being vegetarian, I went with the Jersey Garden Pizza and the Margherita (but I also stole a slice or few from my friend's Burrata Pizza). The eggplant on the Jersey Garden Pizza was to die for. The soft, fluffy, airy dough was perfect and I really enjoyed the light charring on the crust. It was imparted with a warm, wood-smoke flavor from the firing process. That pie featured a great base of delicious red sauce, topped with perfectly melted mozzarella and a sprinkle of ricotta to seal the deal. The Margherita was just as good! It had the same perfect base/crust and is a standalone classic. The fresh basil was ever-so-slightly dried from the heat of the oven but still added a flavorful spice to an already perfect wood-fired Margherita. The Burrata pizza that my friend was so kind to share was also the epitome of perfection. Burrata is difficult to work with, but this pie was elegantly prepared. After slicing the cheese with a knife, delicious, creamy, flavorful Burrata cheese spilled across the pizza. The creaminess of the cheese blended well with the sauce to create an intensely flavorful slice. I can't sing enough praises about Wood Stack Pizza Kitchen. $53.34 for 3 very small pies that couldn't satisfy the hunger of hubby and I is a bit pricey. Pizza was a bit underwhelming as well as undercooked. For roughly the same price I could've went to Fiammas in Montclair. Actually, for a lower price! Simply because Fiammas pies are huge. I ordered a Peppa pig, Seppe and Bader sting. The Seppe wasn't very impressive. Just a sausage slice with jalepeno. The Bader Sting (aka The Bee Sting by Robertas Pizza in Brooklyn knock off) was equally non impressive. Just sopressata and chili oil. Tasted no love there. The Peppa pig was pretty good. Sopressata, pepperoni, sausage, red pepper and a delicious bacon onion marmalade. I was surprised that I really liked this one because I usually don't like a lot of meat on my pizza. It was balanced pretty well. All together, I despised the sloppiness of the pizzas. Just too thin. A bit undercooked for my taste. The crust was tough, not light and airy as expected for Fire wood burned pizza. I probably won't waste my money here ever again in attempt to feed my crew. read more

As usual an excellent meal with exceptional company. Took family here from out of town here for a post wedding catch-up. Ordered wings, Brussel sprouts and the special squash salad for appetizers. All were terrific. I got a salad with flat iron steak, that was a little undercooked (looked more rare than medium) but it will be better with steak and eggs later.
