We actually didn't know which stain color we wanted yet or brand and as we were peeking around someone came over to help us. They walked us to all the different brands and explained a few differences. The gentleman helping us have us some suggestions on the best way to apply to stain, prepping and drying tips. They were helpful! We ended up buying Minwax Wood Finish Semi-Transparent Dark Walnut Oil-Based Stain, 1 qt. for $9! We were appreciative of the associate's help and the stain worked out perfect for what we needed. They are: what exactly I am looking for - the stores carry different brand names or different variations of stock - more sizes or colors, etc., and finally which store has the best customer service. The single largest issue at all of these stores is aisle space, cluttering, blocking, mobile access stairs and free-standing selling displays. For example, today I had to turn around and go down a different aisle twice, in the middle of the day, no huge crowds just displays and stocking blockages. The stores are convenient and the prices generally mirror the quality of the products.

I was in need of a drywall saw and couldn't find one. An employee walked me to the correct aisle and showed me the selection. The best/most well put together one was on sale the previous week, and even though the promotion was over they gave me the sale price. You can tell they really know their stuff. When I run into problems on a project, I can just describe the problem and they can offer an easy and cost-effective solution. Best thing, you really can tell they enjoy doing their jobs. All the employees are super friendly. Some things might cost a little more here than other stores, but when you're dealing with friendly and knowledgeable people, you don't mind spending a little more.

Good tool for 3 days, poor charger reliability and customer support…read more The Hercules 1/2" impact wrench itself performs well and has plenty of power for automotive work. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly when the charger failed after only three days of light use. What made this worse was Harbor Freight's response. Even though the charger was in stock and sold individually, they refused to replace just the charger. Instead, they insisted I exchange the entire kit, and only at another store 30 minutes away. I explained that this was unreasonable and even told the manager I would return the impact wrench and all the additional Hercules tools I bought to complement the kit--there was no effort to resolve the issue. As a result, I returned over $700 worth of Hercules equipment and spent about $1,000 switching to Milwaukee, which has been far more reliable so far. The tool itself may be good, but poor charger quality and inflexible customer service make this hard to recommend.
