Went here Tuesday night ...walking in this old cool place is like walking back in time at the old gangsters hang out ! Its old Victorian style is very cozy ... luv the feel ..the waitresses are very friendly and happy to serve...the food is amazing and very good! Wanted to try this nice restaurant for my birthday/anniversary dinner. Upon walking in it was very nice inside and not very busy at 5pm on a Wednesday. We sat in the dining room side. As a starter I ordered a cup of lobster bisque and it was very good. They offer homemade garlic bread which was good. While looking at the prices on the menu they seemed kind of steep. When ordering, the waitress said the rack of lamb was what they are known for so I said welp let me try it. My wife order the panko chicken. We got our meals and the presentation was very nice. Both tasted excellence. I could have kept eating that lamb it was so good. They added sour cream, bacon, and cheese to the baked potato. My wife usually never eats her entire meal but she did here. We typically never order desert but this time we did. My wife got the warm apple desert and I got the strawberry cheese cake. She loved hers but my cheesecake was just ok, I've had better. We have been to the Wooden Angel numerous times. It is one of our favorite places. The service is outstanding. The food is delicious and the wait staff are always there to fill your glass with water or ask do you need anything else. In fact, when we were there, the kitchen was a little backed up and our waitress gave us free drinks. You just can't beat that service. I've seen other reviews that complained about the food And the service and I have no idea what they are talking about. You can't beat this place for the prices and the excellent food. My wife and I drove here from the Mountaineer Resort in WV for our anniversary on account of the resort having no decent restaurants open during the week. It's about a 40 minute drive. The property is a bit confusing as there is a casual restaurant on one side and this restaurant's entrance is in the back of the property. We sat outside on the patio on a pleasant evening. We tried two of the soups, roasted red pepper and lobster bisque, shared a crab cake and had prime rib and a a steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly and attentive. We felt sort of bad because she had to walk so far from the restaurant to the patio. We had key lime pie for dessert and had a couple of drinks. It's no wonder why this place has been around for so long. Also, in case anyone is interested, I had Google Assistant book my reservation for me. It was hard for me to write this review because my mother had a good time, but the reality is that our experience at the Wooden Angel was very far below our expectations. I reserved a special room for 12 family members for a special birthday party at 5pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was not crowded or overwhelmed. Unfortunately, half of us had issues with our meals! Several meals needed to be sent back. The other meals needed additional or omitted items. My son's steak was RAW!! My sister's steak, ordered Medium Well, was medium rare. My sister's steak was sent back twice before she gave up and didn't want any meal at all. The vegetables on the meals returned to the kitchen were not replaced so those plates returned with cold sides. There were multiple levels of issues with 6 of the 12 meals that shat should not come from a high-end kitchen. Regardless, whether it was a major or minor issue, it felt like it was their first time ever dealing with a group of 12. They have a managerial issue that I suspect will NOT be fixed. They DO NOT have their act together...certainly not as a high-end restaurant...at very high prices. They are resting on their prior reputation which is not reflective of there current product. I expected a WHOLE lot more from the Wooden Angel and they miserably failed to meet the basics of reasonable expectations. Conclusion: I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. Obviously, they have serious issues since the previous owner's passing. They ask very high prices for very mediocre food. Tonight's version of the lobster dinner was a disappointment. The 1.5 pound lobster was beautiful (see picture) but quite dry, all three of us agreed. The price, $60, was also 50% higher than the last time, just four months ago. The prices of other menu items also were significantly higher than they were at our last visit. On the positive side, the server was extraordinarily professional. We'll not be back for the lobster, but likely will try a regular dinner again. read more

This is a local fine dining restaurant so I've been here many times. I've attended private parties in their event rooms mostly, dined in their main dining room and in the casual cafe area each once. I prefer takeout since I'm a fan of the food and not of a fine dining atmosphere. I've attended one private event and ordered takeout twice so far during the pandemic and their quality has not diminished. Their salmon entree is probably the best restaurant meal I've had in Beaver County! Their wine list is also my pick for best in Beaver County. First timer last weekend for my bday. I have read other reviews about the old decor and setting, I myself found it comfortable and quaint. But if you are into modern and fancy atmosphere, maybe try somewhere else. Waiter was attentive and good, not exceptional. Could have offered dessert for the occassions but owell. My wife got the steak salad, which consisted of a beautiful salad with two petite filets on top and roasted red potatoes in place of french fries. She really enjoyed her meal. I started with the beet and goat cheese salad and had seafood risotto for my meal. I have to say I am a little bias about loving anything with goat cheese, however, this one was a winner! The scallops appetizer was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! We both had the prime rib. My husband apologized and said "this might be better than yours" and I agreed! If it weren't for how long the food took to get to us I would've given a higher rating. Atmosphere was great, they decorated for Valentine's Day with beautiful fresh red roses at every table and lit the red candle after you were seated to add to the ambiance. It was a special Valentine's Day set menu but they had something for everyone to pick from. I had the prime rib - it was huge! and hubby got the rack of lamb and honestly it was the biggest serving of lamb we'd ever seen in a restaurant. Both main dishes were awesome, didn't really care for the sides that came with them - whipped garlic mashed (tasted instant) and baby carrots that tasted like they poured maple syrup on top (too sweet). We thought we allotted enough time before the show we were supposed to go with 2 hours between dinner and the show but I don't know if it was just an off night or what but it took forever to get our dinners. The waiter said the computers were down and it was also the first night for the new chef - we only had time for 2 bites of our dinners before we had to pack them up and leave (and we were still 10 min late for the show). Hopefully it was just an off night - the food was delicious, atmosphere was great just wish the timing was better for getting the food out to us. It's a little pricey, so come for special occasions. One thing the waiter didn't tell us - salads are not included in the meal so you'll end up paying for that if you end up getting and also the sautéed onions and mushrooms offered on my prime rib are also extra ($2.25 each) so expect that on your bill as well if you get it. read more

Found this to be a very nice restaurant. In a time of so many order at the counter and find your own table, this is a nice change to be seated AND served. Our server was very professional and knowledgeable regarding menu items and specials. When asked her opinion regarding some of the entrees she gave very good guidance and I landed upon the Linguine with the Roasted Red Pepper sauce. A good choice indeed! Creamy roasted red pepper sauce was a great compliment to the Veal meatballs which were so tender and perfectly cooked. The house dressing on the house salad was a great start to the meal. I also tasted the risotto, served as a side dish, nicely prepared. Though the serving size was so large, I couldn't finish the pasta, I found room for the mixed berry cobbler. It was very good with the ice cream on top. The cobbler topping was an Oatmeal type crumble, different but good.
