I bought fabric from them. Then I brought in cushions to br recovered by the fabric I bought. They…read morelost the fabric. They refused to credit me. Then, they told me I could have store credit. So, I said OK. I bought more fabric at another place to ensure the next purchase of fabric wouldn't be lost. When I took that in, they told me they had no record of my buying fabric or having a credit. Then, I showed them their paperwork and the receipt from American Express which I had taken a photo of on my phone. They told me that they did not believe it because it was not the yellow piece of paper they had given me originally but just a picture of it. I was OK with their losing my fabric. I am not OK with them not honoring the financial agreement. I asked to be reimbursed. They refused to do even this. So, I'm taking this up with American Express. One other thing is I asked them about their recordkeeping. I was told they didn't really keep records. I explained they needed to in order to file taxes and then to keep the records in case of an audit. I was told they didn't bother with any of that. It all seemed very unorganized and suspicious to me as well as my adult son who was with me.

I brought an old Fairfield leather office chair that I paid $25 at a second hand store. I knew the brand very well, so I knew its worth (try $1,500-$3,500 easily). I saw past the ripped seat, and I thought that it would be less expensive to have the seat re-leathered than to purchase a new chair in the same brand which is true in theory; however, the price of the leather panels were far beyond what I wanted to pay for a chair that I only wanted to place into my work office space, so I didn't want to invest a lot of money. Alex helped me search through fabric swatches and I found what I thought was unique and went with my theme of traditional elegance with a touch of interesting movements in that space. Viola! Mag's had what I was looking for, and Alex gave me price that was fair. He told me I could pay when I returned and I left with his word that he would call me in a couple of weeks. True to his word, Alex called me and I dropped in to pick up my baby. I was so pleasantly surprised and pleased when I saw the beautiful new seat cushion. Alex is simply a wonderful artist with a eye for perfection because he added a little more padding to provide the right depth the seat needed to the final sewing. I almost did not recognize the cushion if it weren't for the fabric. Alex and his genius hands made this seat cushion sparkle. I highly recommend Mag's for your refurbishing desires of any seat you need. Alex is a master at his craft and clearly he takes pride in his work. I am a designer and hired Century to do several pieces for my clients. The day before installation,…read morethey informed me nothing was ready -- forcing me to cancel my entire install and multiple other teams at a cost of $1,300. Asking for more time is one thing, but failing to communicate is another. When the pieces finally arrived, the workmanship was sloppy and I was mortified that these were the pieces delivered to my clients. They failed to follow instructions in my emails which specified trim spacing. They ruined thousands of dollars of fabric and trim. Rather than apologizing or offering to fix the issues, the manager became aggressive -- shouted profanity at me during the meeting I arranged in hopes we could find a solution. I left feeling unsafe. Their delivery crew scratched my client's floors and door when they picked up the pieces and when they returned them. Unprofessional, careless, and unwilling to stand behind their work. I still cannot believe they delivered products that look this terrible.

I was also pleasantly surprised that they brought me the left over fabric, from my re-upholstery job. It is not too much, but it is enough for me to take right back to them, and order a few small accent pillows to match the daybed. (Which I plan to do soon.) They could have discarded the fabric or made pillows to sell in their shop, and I would never have known the difference. The honesty meant a lot to me. And speaking of fabric ... they have zillions of beautiful choices, in all price ranges. They were very patient with me and I am a person who does thorough research and takes her time, before I finally make a decision. I will admit a lot of places would have likely become annoyed or frustrated with me, for taking so much time and visiting the showroom to look through samples, over and over and over again, requesting pricing. But they were very kind and pleasant and willing to check pricing for me on many fabrics, many times. I also felt they charged a very fair price, especially considering the craftsmanship and turn around time and their willingness to do the pick up and drop off. The turn around time was so much faster than I expected. It was the holidays and I had to request they hold the daybed a few extra weeks for me, due to my extra traveling and holiday activities. True to form, they were very accommodating and understanding.
