Wood. How often do you see or hear posts about wood? Rarely, until you search for firewood which is exactly what I did. There is nothing like a beautiful fire going during the colder months and my experience buying wood from the grocery store is blah. I Yelped for fire wood and found Woodhill. Never done this before so I explained to the nice receptionist I didn't know anything, she took the time to explain what they offer, different cost options, hours and even how to get there. Beyond great customer service! When I pulled up I was immediately met by a nice gentleman who further gave me advice what to get and how much to purchase. I pulled my Denali up to the oak wood section since I wanted a great smell and longer burning wood, placed all the pieces of wood into the back of my Denali, paid the man and then left. It was that easy. I purchased a quarter of a core and it was $60 out the door. Super affordable, I didn't need to buy a massive amount, and now I won't buy wood anywhere else. Thank you Woodhill for making this so simple. One piece of advice for any newbies like myself, bring quality gloves so you don't get splinters or pricks when you are loading up your vehicle. read more

Went to the "grand opening" at the new location in Irvine yesterday. They have a large lot with a huge amount of wood. You can pick from huge piles of random wood species or buy by the rack if you're looking for something specific or uniformly-cut 16" pieces. There was a helpful gentleman welcoming customers on the way in, and he pointed me to a variety that would not be too smoky for a beach fire. I got a rack's worth. The burned beautifully, and it did appear much less smoky than some others at the beach. Despite an aggressive fire, we only got through half the wood. I loaded the other half in a friend's car for his upcoming camping trip. So we burned $25 worth of wood which was better than 10 or more retail bundles at the grocery or big box store. Do the math. Parking is easy and the lot is adequate to handle many customers at once. The staff is friendly, and everything is neat and organized. The one minor inconvenience was writing my first check in a year (the other goes to the Christmas tree farm). They also take cash. Take some gloves with you. read more

Great find! My local supply yard closed down in Huntington Beach so had to find a new source for firewood. I was surprised how difficult it was to find a place in north OC that sells in larger quantities. After pricing a few options Woodhill seemed like the best price, but I was skeptical of what quality I would find. Drove the distance with high hopes...and Wow, great variety of wood (nut trees are my jam) in large quantities...and super nice attendant (owner?) to chat with. I have recently found this place they are now my go to for firewood camping. They have an abundance of different woods. I, myself just got the regular firewood, but I imagine that the different woods can be used for smoking and the like. The best part about this place is the prices. You can't beat these prices!
