Cannot recommend this place enough! If you're in the area or plan on passing by, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a visit. They have just about every single type of wood you'll ever need, from pine eucalyptus to orange to almond and even oak, they've got it all, and lots of it. Very straightforward and easy to grab some wood as they have everything ready to go in shopping carts. For the price you just cannot beat it! If you were to get your wood at a grocery store, you might be spending 3x as much as just stopping by here. While it may not be in bundles, it's going to be burnt anyway, so it's worth taking a few extra steps to save some cash. One shopping cart is more than enough to last all day. I usually start my fire at around 5 or 6 and then pack up at 9:30, and with the fire roaring throughout the night I am still left with a decent amount of wood (which I usually leave for the next people). George is very helpful when it comes to getting the best options. While it is just wood, some woods burn differently and give off different aromas, which I learned here. Heard about this place for years and finally remembered to stop there for firewood before heading out camping. 2 large carts ($80) burned as long as 16 bundles of wood ($115-$130) from the store, which was about 13-14 hours of a good size camp fire. Fire doesnt get quite as big as a softer wood would provide, but burns longer and provides good heat. Will be making this our go-to from now on. read more

I love camping and I love campfires but sourcing the good wood can be SO TOUGH and those $7 bundles at the grocery store just don't cut it for the long campfire nights we enjoy! I had heard my parents mention a firewood distribution type place dedicated to selling wood that had been sourced from landscaping companies who clear trees for fire safety and etc. I just love the idea of this circle of life so I went to Google and cross referenced Yelp and here we found Rosenbaum ranch! If you have a truck or are camping in the general vicinity (Doheny or San Clemente State Beach or even Camp Pendleton) definitely make this your stop! The wood is not the cheapest but it burns sooooo loooooong and you support this small business that has been here for decades! We got 2 large shopping carts ($40/ea) for 3 winter nights in January including NYE where we had big bonfires for warmth and light for 6-7hrs per night. About $30 in wood per night seems like a good deal when your cold! :) Definitely check this place out if you're in the area! They are cash-preferred and they have a lot of different types of wood if you could probably use for your smoker and etc. You might as well spend your money on long lasting wood from a local small business! read more

I ordered a 1/2 cord of wood to be delivered to my house for $480. I thought it was expensive but went ahead anyway. After stacking the wood and expecting 64 cubic feet, i was 18 percent short. My wood stacked slightly less than 10 feet by 4 feet by an average of roughly 15 inches (some 16 some 14 ) For those of you that don't know a 1/2 cord of wood is 8x4x2 or 64 cubic feet. When I complained about being shorted ( I received 53.2 cubic feet) I was told they sell a "face" 1/2 cord 8x4 and too bad. They have no website explaining their interpretation of a 1/2 cord versus industry standards, MY BAD. The business that wants to keep customers should be more forthcoming. I will never patronize them again. As usual buyer beware. Dave Shultz firewood will now be my go to business. read more

The small basket of wood $20 is plenty enough for the kids to cook smores, run around Doho and start nodding off before you extinguish your flames. I don't leave many reviews however, I wanted to offer feedback. I've purchased firewood at Woodhill Firewood in Irvine for over 10 years however, they have closed for the year and will not reopen until fall. I purchased 1/6 cord of wood from Rosenbaum, it was stacked neatly, most pieces were cut to uniform length all for $120 however, when I arrived home and started splitting wood for kindling I realize the wood had not been dried and seasoned. This was disappointing as I was ready for a fire that evening. It's been two weeks since I purchased the firewood, I split a few more logs last night unfortunately wood is still not ready to burn. Perhaps this is the norm and the product I've been purchasing is the exception. read more

The gentleman working at rosenbaum recommended walnut wood for our fireplace. We purchased 120.00 worth and this was the worst wood to burn. We were told it generated a lot of heat and it was the worst burning wood to purchase. It wouldn't stay lit. The only thing good about it was the smell. We went to Rosenbaum before a week long camping trip. We are the type of people who like wood burning all day long, a few at a time during the day and blazers at night! We bought 3 grocery carts of mixed wood (20 bucks a piece) and it lasted us all week! The wood was good, a good mix and the service - back up load up the SUV and go! Definitely will be a repeat customer - since we live a mile from Doheny, we go to the beach every Sunday evening and will buy our wood here from now on! Clean wood for your car too! Very disappointed. I called and asked about dry firewood for a campfire. The lady told me they have carts of dry wood for $20. When I got there I asked the guy if the wood was dry and good for campfires. Again he said yes. The wood was not dry. It hardly burned at all. I had to build up a good coal base with other wood first and then use their logs. Steam and sizzling coming out of every log. I called and left a message telling them of my issue, but no return call. read more

I like this place. Nice people, lots of wood, charming simplicity. $80 for a mixed 1/6th cord...thats ok. I understand the local firewood economy is not as bustling as other regions. I had to deduct them two stars due to the quality of the seasoning of their firewood. I'm not sure if it's that they sell wood a little earlier than they should or if the wood doesn't properly season in the large piles towards the rear of the property, but I've purchased firewood from them on a few occasions and have always had to season the wood for an additional season to get it acceptably dry. The wood will burn as they sell it, but it takes constant tending to. This coupled with the sound of water sizzling out of logs freshly placed in the firebox suggests the wood is not fully seasoned. I would be happy to pay less money for uncured wood, but to pay full price for wood that needs 6 more months to properly dry is a little unsatisfying. That said, it is a convenient place and they will keep my business. I just know that now is the time to buy next winter's wood. read more
