I have such a great experience here always. This park truly has a little bit of everything, and it's one of those parks that is welcoming for all ages. One of my favorite parts was the nature center. The staff and naturalists were incredibly kind and helpful, and the space itself is really well done. There's a cute gift shop, educational displays, and even a small children's museum feel with a few live animals to see. It's a great spot to learn something new or play around. Outside, the park is incredible. The trails are extremely well maintained, both the wooded paths and the paved ones, making it perfect for an easy walk or a hike. There's also an outdoor fitness trail that I loved. It has different workout stations along the way, and it's actually really fun, not just functional. It's a great way for both kids and adults to be active. There's also a huge playground and a mini water park area for kids, plus accessible bathrooms and good seasonal amenities. It's very family friendly without feeling overcrowded. If you're into disc golf, this place is a gem. There's a large disc golf course, and they even sell discs and gear right inside the nature center. Another thing worth mentioning is how amazing Great Parks of Hamilton County is overall. They offer so many programs like beginner fishing, guided hikes, plant swaps, art workshops, amphibian hunts, and even owl pellet dissections. Not all of these are specific to this park, but many are hosted here, and it really adds to how special the experience is. Overall, this is an extremely pleasant place to spend time. Whether you're walking the trails, working out, bringing kids to play, or just exploring the nature center, there's something for everyone. read more

This is an expansive park with a wide array of paved and unpaved trails, great for dog walking and exercise with beautiful views of the Ohio River. For the little ones, there's a splash park in season (check for cost) with a snack bar. Frisbee golf, nature center, shelter rentals, very clean bathrooms and other amenities available. You will need a parks pass to get in but the yearly rate is worth it and gets you in to all the parks in Anderson Township. read more

Fun place for the kids! Only $6 something to get into the splash pad park and adults are free! Lots of sitting areas and you can buy food there. There's also a large playground next to the splash pad area. The reason why I took off the stars is if you have a smaller kid, the big slides are tough for them. Older kids will push and cut in line and they are aggressive. Some of their parents don't even watch them so it gets chaotic. There is a section for little kids but there's not much in there. The most fun for them is the big slides. Plan to get wet because you will! It can also get very crowded so be prepared. read more

We recently visited Parky's Splash Pad at Woodland Mound and had a great experience! My daughter isn't quite 2 yet so we didn't have to pay but even if you do have to pay, it's only $6/child. I love that they have separate sections for 2-5 yr olds and then 5+ yr olds so the littles don't get knocked down by the big kids when it's busy. There's a snack bar and you're free to bring your own snacks as well - there are plenty of covered tables to eat at. We'll definitely be back!! read more

This park appears to belong to a suburban county, but is not a far drive from Cincinnati. The booth seemed to be a pretext for an entrance fee, but at least on the beautiful fall day I dropped in I was waved through with no charge (and out of state plates, so it's not like they mistook me for a local). The park includes some paved and some dirt trails, which seemed quite well kept in my observation. The hill it is on top of is quite stark and near the river, and the breeze that hits one in various places is quite refreshing. Among the more substantive amenities were a water park (probably only open during the peak of summer), an outdoor music stage, and a nature center with a small variety of animals and a deck that gives a nice view of the river below. For a local, I imagine getting the applicable parks pass would be well worth it. read more

I love Cincinnati Parks, all (most) of them. I grew up going to different parks under the management of the HCPD. Some of my favorites including Winton Woods, Sharon Woods, Lake Isabella and Woodland Mound. This particular checkin/review is for Woodland Mound, which I've spent the most amount of time at lately (thanks to the kids splash park!). Woodland Mound, like all HamCo Parks, is always kept clean and well maintained. All the workers from the permit booth, lifeguards and concession are always so kind. $10 gets you a yearly pass to all HamCo Parks that I highly recommend. You can order these online which I tend to do for Christmas gifts. You can also pay a daily fee if you think you'll only be there once. Most parks within the HamCo Park District have ponds or lakes, great for fishing, some for camping. Most have boat rentals or splash parks and reservable shelters. You can almost always find a picnic table and grill. Really just a wonderful park system to have for ourselves and our kiddos. read more

It had been a while since we had visited Woodland Mound. When I went to check in, I was surprised to see I had yet to review it. Overall, the park and trails are well kept. There are several trails to choose from. All trails are easily accessible from the multi use trail. It serves as a loop around the park. Much of the multi use trail is in direct sun. If you plan on using it, make sure to use sun protection. The other trails are wooded. I am particularly fond of the Hedgeapple and fitness trails. Their shade shady areas make for more enjoyable hiking duning hot summer months. The Nature's Niche gift and book store is located near the playground, and inside the Seasongood Nature Center. (They share a parking lot.) It is a great place to find nature inspired art from such local favorites as Charlie Harper. Fun nature themed gifts for the kids are also available. The nature center offers educational displays, as well as activities. If you participate in the Great Park's Master Hiker or Hiking Staff programs, medallions may be purchased here. I have never utilized the golf course/facilities. Nor have I visited the banquet center. If the rest of the park is any indication, I would expect them to be in good working order as well. I have heard the golf options are top notch, and open to the public. read more

My favorite park in Cincinnati. Surprisingly not a ton of people know about it unless you are from the East Side. This place has my heart. Many many childhood memories of Frisbee golf, and the Seasongood Nature Center. The park is meticulously maintained. In perfect condition. Tons of separate picnic areas to host events. A beautiful view of the Ohio River. Out of all the home video's on our amazing VHS tapes (lol) I seem to be having the most fun here. I am a nanny during the day and rather than go to Kings Island, the movies, Union Terminal or the Zoo, my kids first choice is always Woodland Mound! This place reeks of happiness. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Woodland mounds! There is an endless supply of picnic stations throughout the park. The trails were clearly defined and moderate. The trees were tall, beautiful and plentiful. I will definitely be going back in the fall to see all of the trees change color! I also enjoyed all of the wild flowers throughout the trail. I thought it was neat how there were various workout stations throughout the trail. There's also a water park and a nice playground for kids. If you're looking for a place to picnic and go for a little hike this is a great place!! (P.s-There's also a geocache located in this park). read more

Again and again I find myself drawn to woodland mound in Anderson. There are just so many things to do here... an 18 hole disc golf course, a kiddie water park play area, nature center, paved trails, pavilions, hiking trails, even a parcours trail. The park always has a decent number of people at it but I've never seen it so overrun you would be unhappy. The disc golf course is semi-wooded but the undergrowth is manageable so you can find your disc if you veer off course a lot like me. The parcours trail is wide and gravel. You could easily traverse most of it with a stroller or in a wheelchair if you can handle the hills. The equipment stations are in decent and working condition but could use minor updates. My only complaint about this park is that it is a little difficult to get to from my house, but that's not Woodland mound's fault! If you haven't already, make sure you get the $10 annual car access pass for all Hamilton county parks. Its a great deal and it supports our awesome park service. In general, everything here is decently maintained and it is a beautiful location to hangout, exercise or explore! read more

Woodland Mound - Disc Golf! - Hiking Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Woodland is tucked into the hills of the Miami valley, and could be easy to miss if you didn't know about it. If you did, though, you would know that what is available is a very large park with countless activities for everyone. Growing up going here was always fun, but not nearly as fun as it is for kids now. The park recently installed an above ground water park with tons of fun water stuff for kids to do. In the summer there are always plenty of kids there and parents have easy access to seating around to edge to keep a close eye on their little ones. For people more my age, the 18 hole Frisbee golf course, or Frolf course is a blast. Sure I'm no good, but I still enjoy trying to land my disc in a big metal basket. If you're new at it, be warned, the course is actually pretty difficult at some points. Since it's higher up you can also get a nice view of the river and there is usually a good breeze for kite flying. read more

Everyone needs to come to Woodland Mound. The grounds are immaculate and the grounds people are super nice and do a great job keeping the place up. There is a playground and a water park that is open during the summer. For $10 a year you can come an unlimited amount of times. It's great for adults as well as kids. You can rent a shelter with a grill and picnic tables for groups. Lots of people walk their dogs or run so there are plenty of people on the trails. They have added outdoor equipment this year as well. read more

Really nice hidden gem park on the east side of town. It sits atop a hill overlooking the Ohio river, which provides for a nice view. I frequently run here to get some hills or trail running in. They do have nice paved trails as well for short distances. An added bonus is the frisbee golf course! This place is pet friendly on a leash, and as always don't forget you will need your great parks yearly permit, or to pay a day fee to get in. Very clean and well maintained. read more

So close to home! How did it take me 2 years to finally check it out? There's a water park in there for kids. That's a score for those with kids. The park is really clean and pretty big from what I can tell. I saw some trails but didn't get to walk any of it them just yet. Looks like a great place to have a family picnic or party. Woodland Mound - Nice garden with waterfall - Hiking Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Woodland Mound is one of my favorite Hamilton County Parks. It's situated between US52 and Beechmont Avenue, giving you multiple ways to get there. If you need to run some errands on the way, take Beechmont, but if you want a great, scenic drive, US52 is the way to go! Like so many of the county parks, Woodland Mound has amenities abound. If you want it, they probably have it. The area around the Seasongood Nature Center is amazing and serves as the park's hub. Parking here is plentiful, yet there is still a lot of green space to toss a football around or spread out a blanket. Frisbee golf is nearby, as well as numerous picnic tables and pavilions. The playground area is huge, with several different play-sets and swings. Also in the area you will find the Parky's Wetland Adventure Playground, which is our go-to splash park in the city. It's affordable and less busy than, say, Winton Woods or Sawyer Point. The snack bar (open seasonally) is right beside it. The Nature Center itself is also a nice place to stop in to learn more about the park and about local wildlife. Don't miss the displays downstairs! The trail system here is also wonderful. There are two nature trails, as well as a parcourse trail that can also be hiked. There is a great paved trail that circles the center of the park beginning near Seasongood Nature Center, too. The only downside is that there is a lot of the space on the west side of the park that is underutilized and somewhat poorly maintained. For that reason, the park-life centers itself around the Nature Center, which then gets a little too busy sometimes. It would be nice to see a bit more done for that side of the park. If you go, don't miss the tiny little strip of park that runs on the opposite site of US52 along the river. It's insanely quiet, has a boat launch to the Ohio River, and is a great place to have a picnic with a view. read more

Like others, this is one of my favorite Hamilton County Parks (not to be confused with my favorite parks maintained by City of Cincinnati). This park is big with plenty of amenities: little people like the splash park, I like the trails and frisbee golf despite being terrible. On the other hand, being terrible makes for a great way to run around with friends. There are shelters with wide-open green space to make for an enjoyable picnic. If you want to get away for a little quiet, have a great view of the river and enjoy the outdoors, it is worth buying the $10 annual parking pass and going several times. read more

This park has an excellent walking trail, and the hills make it a challenging workout. One lap is 1.2 miles, so it's easy to keep track of how far you've ran/walked. - They have a great frisbee golf course right off the parking lot where I always see someone playing. The splash park for kids is a summer favorite. More importantly, the river views are gorgeous! read more

What a lovely park! You can bike, hike, jog, swing or play frisbee golf. There's an amazing looking playground, a cool nature trail (and at least 1 or 2 more), a beautiful lake. The trees are a gorgeous medley of colors in the fall. It sits right there on the edge of the river and offer a great view of the city below. I wandered there alone on Sunday and had a great time with my bike. You pay $5 or $10 and it gives you entry to all the county (or city)? parks for the whole year! read more

This is my favorite park I've ever been to. My parents used to take me here as a kid so I have a lot of good memories of it. I've been here more recently with my little sisters, and they love it just as much as i did. The playground is the best playground that I've ever seen, mostly because of the awesome tunnel slides that take kids down a hill from the playground, to an area with swing sets. This place also has an awesome Frisbee golf course! I've not been to very many, but this is the best out of the ones I have been to. They also have really nice walking trails, a water park for kids, and a small museum. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

Another wonderful park maintained by the Hamilton County Park District. Over one thousand acres in size, this phenomenal park has activities for the whole family, such as 18-holes of golf; 18-holes of Frisbee golf; large playground; "Parky's Wetland Adventure," a wet playland; hiking trails, paved biking and walking trails, and parcours exercise course. For me the most stand-out feature was Parky's Wetland. Open during spring and summer, this water park contains fountains and water falls in the shape of plants and animals. Because there isn't a pool, even children too young to swim can enjoy themselves. It only costs $1 per child. read more

Ah yes, Woodland Mound, my old stomping grounds when I was a wee one. Back then, I enjoyed their playground and the two orange slides they had. Spent many summer afternoons there. I returned not too long ago to find that there is a water playground there now. If only it was there when I was a child... The park itself is huge, and it's a nice retreat off the beaten path, in fact- it's only 10 to 15 minutes from the I-275/Beechmont exit, so it's pretty much a short drive from anywhere on the eastside of town. There's a lot to do here...frisbee golf, 18 hole golf course, nature center, hiking trails, shelters with grill, lake, sand volleyball...the list goes on, but there's something for everyone. It's definitely one of the more beautiful parks that I've ever seen. Definitely a good place to have a group cookout from work. It's part of the Hamilton County Park District, so they do charge admission to visit, however for $10 the entire year, you really can't go wrong. It's worth it. Pretty sure you get admission to the other parks as well, but I'm not 100% sure. If you're looking for a nice, quiet park with lots of amenities and recreation, be sure to check out Woodland Mound. And be sure to have fun! read more

I grew up near this park and would often come here with friends to go hiking or play Frisbee golf. They have a really nice Frisbee golf course that offers lots of different terrain, varied distances, and lots of challenges. I'm really bad at this sport, but I still enjoying throwing a disc around every once and a while as long as it's not too hot outside. I love hiking on the trails here because every once and a while you'll come upon a nice overlook of the Ohio River and hills in the distance. Some of them are just breathtaking! I've never been to Parky's Wetland Adventure, but it always appears to have lots of enthusiastic children playing in it. I also enjoy the exercise course. It's a neat idea and I wish more parks had it. It's useful to stretch and wind down after a jog or a hike. You have to pay to drive into this park, but if you pay the $4 or something it costs for the year round membership, you won't have to pay $1 each time you go. The same membership works at all sorts of other parks as well. read more

Woodland Mound has great walking trails, stunning views of the river valley, a great watery kid's area, and best of all, Disc Golf. It's a short, fun course, but it does get packed with large groups of families and teenagers with 20 cent frisbess they got as dinner plates at Taco Bell, especially on weekends and evening. So if you're visiting from out of town and are a serious disc golfer, go check out Idlewild. Add a real lake, and it would be 5 stars for sure (I know, that's not going to happen, but hey, one can dream.) read more

This is a very nice park! I had no idea this was so close to me. We went there for disc golf and had a great time. They have an 18 hole course. I little bit on top of each other but still pretty decent. The tees are not really marked well and if you never had done it before, like us, you might aim for the wrong basket and/or go to the wrong tee in order. There were a lot of people out in the evening and had to be careful not get hit by a stray frisbee. Almost lost a couple in the woods but the woods weren't too dense. Definitely coming here more to see what else the park has to offer. read more

As I mentioned in an earlier review, I love the various parks within the Cincinnati area. They have so much to offer. Campgrounds. Hiking Trails. Playgrounds. Golf Courses. Picnic Areas. Gift Shops. Some have rivers or lakes you can take a boat out on. Others even have a banquet hall that can be reserved. These parks are great places for families, couples (old and young, new and old), pets, and groups of friends. Woodland Mound is one of those parks. Officially a part of the Hamilton Country Park District, it rests right on the outskirts of Anderson Township. Admission is tremendously cheap; $2 for a single visit or you can pay $5 (that's right, a measly $5) and get a yearly pass. I think the choice there is a bit of a no-brainer. The drive up the hill allows the anticipation to build. With trees lining both sides of the road you finally pop out to rolling green hills and woods spotted throughout the greenery. Woodland Mound offers campgrounds, two 18-hole golf courses (one regular, one Frisbee), picnic areas, a boat launch, a full-service banquet center that can be reserved (it's named Winton Centre), various nature programs that are available to both kids and adults, a visitor center, gift shop and a playground for the kids. All of these things are great. But that's not the reason why the wife and I love Woodland Mound so much. What we love most about this park is Breezy Point. Standing atop a hill with a breath-taking view of the Ohio River and nearby Kentucky, Breezy Point is home to Parky's Wetland Adventure, one of the many wet playgrounds that are featured throughout the Hamilton County Park System. Each individual playground has its own theme. This particular theme seems to be "Nature Run Amok." There's a little bit of a slide in the form of a giant tree with animals jumping out. Various animals and giant plant life that spout out water is a great way to keep the kids nice and cool during those hot summer days. The cost is just $2.00 for kids ages 2 - 12 or $5 for three. Parents and the wee little ones get in for free. After running around for awhile you can go right over to the snack bar and grab a bite to eat, although be aware the prices are very much on the high side. This is a great water park for all ages. I've seen everything from baby's splashing to grown adults chasing their children with squirt guns. It's definitely worth the 30 min drive for me and my toddler. Now the downside. First, they need to have more foam padding instead of in selected areas around the water spouts, I've seen many skinned knees including my own. Second, their hours need to be extended during summer months when the sun doesn't set until 9pm. Their set hours are until 7pm, and usually I head over to the playground next to it but see anywhere from 5-10 families try to enter only to be disappointed that they have closed for the day. read more

We went here for the splash park and we absolutely love the place! It's great for kids and parents too! There are plenty of benches and shade umbrellas for caregivers, or you can splash around too. Our daughter is 19 months old and was able to enjoy the entire smaller side (for younger babies and children). She also ventured over to the older kids side and was able to enjoy herself there too. However, I suggest keeping children under the age of 4/5 in the youngest side. The older kids were a little bit rougher with their play, as one would expect. There are lifeguards around, but they seemed to be less interested in their jobs more interested with playing in the water themselves. As it sits at the the top of a hill, there's a great breeze on hot, Summer days. The view is pretty awesome too! The entire place is fenced in except for the entry way which makes keeping track of your child/children much less stressful than if it were all open. There is food available and it's surprisingly inexpensive. We purchased an ice cream cone and it was only around $2. They also have sandwiches, snacks, and drinks available. There is a restroom on site and it's a combined changing area. They're open to the elements in the front and are unisex. They're pretty nice and have sides that go almost to the floor and almost to the ceiling. For as busy as it always seems to be, they do a good job keeping them clean. Cost of admission is free for those under the age of 2. Sorry, I don't remember the cost of admission for older kids. Parents and caregivers are always free. Parking can be costly, but if you plan to come back, I recommend just getting the one year pass for $10. Then you can visit as many times as you'd like without additional parking fees. It also allows you to park for free at other parks in the area. read more

I love this park. The scenery is beautiful. There are a few downfalls though. For instance, a fair amount of people let their dogs off-leash. I have seen and experienced myself the struggle of being chased by a dog whilst running and having to regain balance while on a bike when a dog darts past or toward you. It ruins the experience for other people when you witness a kid get knocked to the ground by a dog pouncing. It was sad. The playground is nice but could use a little updating. A lot of parents watch their older kids from the benches and dont really monitor them around the smaller kids. My 3 year old daughter nearly fell down the stairs by the slides to avoid being trampled by kids that were at least 14 year olds while their parents looked on. There is no excuse for poor parenting, so obviously this doesnt count toward my feelings toward the park. It's just a little side note for parents with small kids because this has happened frequently enough that I stopped letting her in that area. The trails are maintained well and are quite roomy. 3 people could walk side-by-side comfortably. This is a major plus when walking with a group. The views are really nice. In late summer it is absolutely stunning to walk any of the trails. Lots of wildflowers, chipmunks and cardinals. This is one of the best parks in the tri-state area. read more

If your kids are old enough and "got game", you'll love the Disc Golf course at this location. Relaxing, challenging and scenic. Watch out for the Back 9. If your kids are younger and less "accomplished" disc hurlers, the waterpark is fun and inexpensive ($2, i think.) And, there are baseball diamonds, play areas and a "living" pond with lots to explore. This park sits comfortably at number 3 on my "Top 5" parks list. read more
