I have my daughter in many activities and this experience was best in class with Jeff & Chris @ Maximum Scuba. They made it fun, educational and still got across the seriousness and importance of the key aspects of scuba diving. They had students performing all kinds of skills over and above what is required solely to help them learn and build confidence to face whatever they may while diving. With me as an experienced diver, they let me stay with her the entire time in the pool and participate in whatever I wanted. They could not have been more accommodating to me if they tried and it meant a lot. Unfortunately in today's society finding really good experiences can be hit or miss based on the folks passion and commitment to providing a memorable experience. Aiar did a wonderful job explaining options in fixing part that malfunctioned, and also pointed out the really old aging part of octopus, that would need to be replaced very soon. Dustin Ainsworth answered my first call, presented a solution and worked with us to get my husband and me in for a refresher class and dive in a timely fashion. Morgan was our Divemaster and she was INCREDIBLY patient, reassuring, fun and professional. Exactly what I needed! She is excellent! I can't say enough about how prompt, professional and perfect the entire team at Texas Scuba at Blue Lagoon was to work with! I HIGHLY recommend the refresher courses, check off dives and/or full certification courses. In addition to our superior experience, our daughter was supposed to come with her scuba class at TAMU and at the last minute the divemaster in College Station that was going to join the class needed to cancel. The skills are practiced on land and in the water they are both very thorough and make sure you are comfortable before moving on with the training. They will answer questions about gear and recommend the best fit for you. However I never felt pressured to buy any gear since the gear is included with the training. I asked about places to dive with while travelling to Mexico and honduras and got some excellent recommendations. These guys are laid back and i would recommend this shop to anyone who is looking to get certified.

Trained with William Brooks, went to a lake and a swimming pool and he was very thorough. Price was ok, not unreasonable. I've since gone diving in places all over Mexico, Honduras, Belize and Puerto Rico. One thing that struck me was how William said, "Don't worry about your lack of the skill now, the more you dive the more you're going to absorb it.... you're going to be a great diver". but it drove me to be a better diver every time I'd go into the water. Not even sure if he's even still employed there but anyhow well worth it. One thing I believe in is always to go back to your roots and TDC was the path to my adoration of the ocean.
