This is my updated review after 9 years. Since COVID, I've mostly ordered takeout because whenever I dined in, the place never felt very inviting. Lately, though, I've noticed more people eating in, so we've gone back a few times over the past couple of years. Dosa is my favorite, and since it's something you really need to eat right away, dining in makes sense. We've tried gobi Manchurian and a variety of other dishes, but dosa is still my favorite. Unfortunately, the service is basically nonexistent. No one checks in to see how things are. The last time I ordered a masala soda, it was terrible. I tried getting the server's attention but no one came over. I ended up paying $5 for something I didn't even drink. When it was time to pay, I waved for the check and was told to come up and pay instead. Why I tipped, I honestly don't know--I wasn't happy about that at all. That said, the food is generally good. The sambar wasn't great on our most recent visit a few days ago, but overall the restaurant is always clean and the prices are reasonable. I'll be back, but I really hope the owner or manager reads these reviews and understands that customer service truly makes a difference.

Since we're traveling to Florida, this was a struggle to find an Indian restaurant who caters south Indian food. We looked around and found this place to be Catering a perfect blend of south Indian Indo Chinese vegetarian food as soon as we entered the restaurant you get a feel of being in India somewhere they have very beautiful ambience. The place was very neat and clean as well. I spoke for a few minutes with the manager to understand what were the best dishes that I can order based on my liking recommended a bunch of things which we didn't have time to wait and eat so we ended up taking it to go their service for super good they made sure that the food doesn't get cold and they packed independently and individually in different boxes. They were very courteous to add some extra chutney and some other other items with it. It was super full a heavy bag of food. Everything was at our liking and we would love to visit this place if you're around here.

Finally had a chance to try Woodlands because someone I know has recommended coming here for years. I am not vegetarian by any means and I did not miss having any meat in my dish. The staff is very friendly and happy to explain any item on the menu if you're unsure what to get. The food is flavorful and comes out fast. Despite some of the negative reviews, I really enjoyed everything we had and would definitely return.

Came for lunch on a weekend and were seated immediately. Overall pleased with the quality + value! Recommend the Chana Bhatura and Masala Dosa.

Indian in Lauderhill! Parking here is easy as it is in a strip mall that doesn't have a ton of shops. It does not look like a fancy restaurant but don't let that fool you. The food is authentic and delicious! We had the sampler as it was our first time. All of the dishes were delicious! They have a great pepper sauce you can ask for on the side. The staff is friendly - appears to be mostly family as you see little kids and babies running toward the back area. It was fairly empty when we went on a weeknight and we appreciated the quiet and quick service.

We came here for lunch because I wanted to try their dosas. We ordered their Masala dosa, Mysore spicy dosa and North Indian thali. Service was fast but most of the servers do not speak English, which is not good. They also forgot to give me Rassam with the dosa while another table got it. The inside is nothing special in terms of the ambiance, and they do need to work on hiring better staff. The dosas were good, and the North Indian thali is a good choice if you want to try different things. It comes with rice, naan, paneer curry, daal, Chana masala, gulab jamun, and more! See photos below.

South Indian Dosas from Woodlands! if you've never tried a dosa, they are vegetarian thin "pancakes" or "crepes" filled with a delicious potato filling and come with cold coconut chutney and warm sambar for dipping - they are fantastic! you can get different types of dosas, I always like getting the Onion Rava Masala Dosa, where the crepe is filled with onions & herbs a as an app, we always start off with Sambar Vadas, which are like savory donuts that come with Sambar, a delicious savory broth sauce I pro tip: get extra Sambar, it's the best part (=

Update- Rava dosa is still 5 stars solid. The hakka noodles on the other hand was not up to the mark- it tasted more like a pasta dish than Indochinese.

I just want to start off by saying I'm not even close to being vegetarian lol. The flavor and taste was off the charts! This meal was better than a lot meals I had that weren't vegetarian. I was nervous to try it because I'm not vegetarian nor am I familiar with Indian cuisine. Everything was really really good and we tried an assortment of things. The thali was really good but the Manchurian was my favorite. The curry options in the thali were really good. The restaurant wasn't packed but our waiter was nice and attentive even though the staff didn't speak much English. It was clean and spacious. We sat at a booth. Woodlands Definitely exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to any one looking for a different esthetic and meal.

This place hits the spot every time I come here. Can't confirm if it's the most authentic/best South Indian food ever but it's 10/10 for me at least. Got the Mysore Masala dosa & I'd def recommend it. It tastes incredible and has a good amount of spice in it! I wish there was more Aloo in it but a girl can always dream. Sambar is also just as good! I'd recommend getting the chai to end the meal with. You can taste the ginger and it's a perfect way to end the meal. I don't know about the main restaurant because I believe this was the Express one but it's a small casual standard Indian restaurant. Nothing glitzy so come for the food not the vibes. Bring yourself or your friends. Parking is never an issue and prices are more than fair!

I wish I had more pictures, but I usually dive in before I can snap them. Everything we've tried has been incredible, but I'll name a few personal favorites. The corn ribs - I don't know what they do to this corn, but we literally fight over these at the table. They have a sour tang to the spice and an addictive roasted flavor, and are perfect with the garlic sauce. The hummus - theirs is nutty and earthy with a smooth texture and served with chickpeas and garlic on top. It's a great starter too with the pita! The gyro - they actually use lamb for theirs, which is a huge plus for me since I can't eat the beef/lamb blend at most other places. The balance of fillings is perfect and the flavor is spot on here. The mint lemonade - so refreshing and not too sweet. I think about this stuff every time it's hot out and wish I had some. I order it every time I visit. The restaurant itself has more seating than you'd think, and offers a relaxing atmosphere where you can unwind. Everything comes out really fast, and the owner/manager is truly the best. He insisted on helping me and my mom to the car last time we got a big takeout order and is always very attentive to the table's needs. I decided to get the Media Luna which is half chicken and half beef shawarma with a side of fries or salad. I opted for the salad. The chicken half was heavenly and the chicken was seasoned nicely. The pita itself was soft and stuffed beyond belief with the chicken. The beef half was also amazing and the meat was cooked perfectly and nicely tender. the salad had a very nice vinigerette that had a nice bite to it and was perfect on the fresh salad. The media Luna was about $18 and well worth every penny. The place was super clean and nicely spaced out so I didn't feel like I was sitting shoulder to shoulder with anyone. The place was nicely decorated and was very clean. I liked also being able to see into the area where the kitchen and meat were on spits, slowly rotating and cooking. I will be stopping here again as soon as I am in the mood for some amazing shawarma!

Everyone seemed to have the same idea, since the restaurant was 80% full on a late Saturday afternoon. There is a counter immediately on the left when you walk in, mainly for to-go and delivery order pickups, which happen pretty often if you're sitting and seeing in the restaurant. The walls are decorated with traditional Vietnamese paintings and the tables have the heaviest ornate wooden chairs I've ever pulled out, but both the tables and chairs feel stable to sit at no matter where you sit. The menus are typically already sitting at the table so you can start looking and be ready to order within minutes, which is how quickly you can get a drink order and/or water served. You order your choice of pho by number, as one does in a legitimate pho restaurant, and the pho toppings come out again within minutes of your ordering. The appetizers and pho come out so quickly and fresh, you forget you had ordered. The rocket shrimp rolls are a great snack appetizer to have while you wait for your pho to come out (which isn't that much time). I've had them 3 times and they arrive hot, fresh, wrapped in crispy wonton on the outside and with plump well seasoned shrimp on the inside. They come with a sweet vinegary soy dipping sauce. The pho broth is rich in taste and never over salted. It comes out hot cooking the brisket and steak that was just added to it before serving (along with tripe in my case---I got #30 during my last visit). I love adding all of the toppings and having them cook and soften as I make my way through the bowl contents. The bean sprouts, Thai basil and culantro are always fresh (which is hard to keep that way for long, from experience). The pho bowls start at $13 for regular and go to $16 for a large size, then to $19 for an XL size. If you're real hungry like I usually am, the large size is a sweet spot. Dump some chili oil and/or sambal from the table into your bowl, munch on softened jalapenos and savor the heat in temperature and your taste buds. There's no better comforting way to spend a rainy or cold day!
