Funny how I've never really noticed this hidden spot. We go to Leaf House a few stores down all the time and have passed this place tons. My husband suggested something new and he had lunch here one day so this is where we ended up. Im always down to try out new places. It's a small Indian restaurant with simple decor. First off, I saw pani puri and freaked out because I can never find this anywhere!!! My Indian friend use to make pani puri for their parties and it was so fun to eat, very unique too. I love the cold chutney served inside the puri puffs. Sam was our server and she was so nice and accommodating. We asked for suggestions on the menu items and she helped us with our selections. We ended up getting pani puri (of course), butter chicken, barbeque platter and garlic naan. Pani puri hit the spot. Just as good as I remember it. Everyone's favorite was the butter chicken, it had good flavor and even more delicious when you dip the garlic naan in that sauce! Garlic naan was perfectly garlicky, the more garlic, the better. I have been coming to this place since it was Indian, Peruvian, and Italian. That's over 20 years ago. This was the first place I ever had butter chicken, and held EVERY SINGLE PLACE to this standard since. I lived around the corner and I was obsessed with everything I ever had there, including Peruvian. Since then, I moved to Fort Lauderdale and it switched owners. I came back whenever I was in the area, but then it had switched owners. The butter chicken was still good. I have now moved to palm beach and been here over 6 years, and now it's owned by Pakistani, Indian owners. This by far has been THE BEST of all ownership's in term of cooking. Wow, just wow. The spice level was amazing. I always say spicy and they give me a rundown version for American palate. This place delivered. Butter chicken was creamy, with a hint of sweetness that was perfection. I had wanted the DAAL makhani and they didn't have, but they gave me a complimentary Daal (yellow) to try. It was spectacular. It had a smokiness to it that was soooooo good. I will have that every single time I go. The naan was totally homemade, not like neighboring Indian restaurants. The place isn't much to look at but, it's clean and the staff is wonderful. However, I passed by this location and decided to ultimately forgo my Thai cravings and go with Indian. When I went in, the tables were completely empty; that should have been a red flag. The menu is pretty small compared to other locations, but I was just happy that they had Butter Chicken. I got takeout and went with the side of rice instead of naan. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready; which was fine since it let me explore the Indian market that was just a couple stores down from where Ellie's is located. It wasn't as good as some other places I've been too, but I would say if you are in a pinch for Indian, check it out! read more

The food is also not consistent when it comes to taste and freshness. We have dinned in many times where the food was amazing and there were days when the trip was a complete waste which perhaps is why it took me so long to write this review. This was the first time I've been here. I arrived around 5pm on a very rainy weekday and was the only customer at that time. Needless to say, service was very quick, and the food was prepared very quickly. I ordered a Karachi chicken- made spicy. The flavor was wonderful- very aromatic, pungent, and perfectly seasoned. My only gripe would he that the chicken was composed only of bony drumsticks with not very much meat on the sinews, and not even one piece of breast meat. Typically, chicken dishes are made with more premium cuts. In spite of this, I really enjoyed eating the thick sauce and picked around the bones. The Naan was perfect though. Would I come back? Probably so- but I probably would ask for breast meat the next time and reserve the drum sticks for people who prefer the extra textures they give. read more

This is a shame!! I have been patronizing this restaurant for years with my daughter. So we arrived at 11:45am (restaurant opens at 11:30am), the staff is mopping the floors at that time. Instead of smelling food , I'm smelling fabuloso. The server brings water and the top of the carafe is broken and filthy with which looks like mildew. We proceed to order, and the server tells us it's going to be a 20 minute wait to get garlic naan since the grill was just turned on. Excuse me? is this restaurant not open for business?? How do you expect to enjoy lunch while having the floors mopped and smelling cleaning products while you're trying to eat. We ended up leaving and going to a different restaurant. I have seen Ellie's decline over the last few years considerably. I went today after almost a year, and the service was horrendous. I Ordered a hot and sour soup, chicken fried rice, Manchurian fried rice, chili chicken (gravy dish) and Manchurian chicken (gravy dish). It took over 50 minutes to get the soup, which was bland, and had mostly a flavor of hot sauce mixed in with chicken. This was surprising because there were about 3 more guest tables occupied. For a business that has been around for around a decade, Ellie's has still yet to get their service timing correct. The next items showed up 10 minutes later, with kid size quantity of the rice dishes and the other two gravy dishes. The gravy dishes were served on a thin plate, hard to get them out and eat with the rice. On the plus size, the rice had more flavor and a decent mix of spices that made the flavor more pronounced. However, the gravy dishes were nothing too special, and lacked salt, once again tasting like a budget hot sauce. Unless they address the fundamental issues that hover the business, they will probably remain a below average Indian/Pakistani restaurant that locals frequent due to limited surrounding options but leave in great disappointment. I was visiting my son in Ft Lauderdale and when the beach was jam packed with diners, we chose to drive 35 minutes to eat halal food at this Pakistani place. Upon entry, I noted the facility was clean and dining parties were well spaced out. The hostess joked that she might forget us because we wanted the furthest most corner. Unfortunately, SHE WASN'T JOKING!! We ended up waiting over one hour for our dishes while every party that entered after us was served before us. My blood literally boiled!! It was my son's who forced me to not walk out. Although the hostess was apologetic, the owner or manager never came to Apologize. Moreover, instead of a discount or free dessert as compensation, they were shameless enough to charge every dime. I cook Pakistani food too and for average, homestyle cooking and under cooked bihari kabab and hard naan with no garlic on the garlic naan, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place They just simply are not worth it read more

I have been to this restaurant many times and last night I had to Uber eats from Ellie's Desi Kitchen due to car troubles; after an hour wait, my food still said it was being prepared. I decided to reach out to the restaurant, thinking perhaps my order never went through and there was a glitch in the system. Vishnu took my call and turned an already frustrating situation even more distasteful with his rude demeanor and disrespectful tone. He informed me, quite flippantly, I should simply pick up the food myself (which I would have if I had the means....I'm using Uber eats for a reason!) He then bluntly told me to cancel my order. I asked what I could do or if he could call Uber eats to confirm that my meal was ready for pick up but he refused. I find this pretty ridiculous. Although it's not their fault that the Uber platform seemed to be glitching, there could have been a more proactive & customer friendly response at the end of the day. It's tough finding good desi style restaurants which serve variety of entrees. If they do serve many types of entrees, most of the time it's hit or miss. Fear not: Ellie's Desi restaurant literally has a food option for everyone. I have ate their food numerous times but it was all take out which my dear husband brought home for me. Recently, I ate there at the restaurant. Seating options is something to be desired since all the bigger tables, they are waiting for future customers, and seating for two is right near the check out counter. I would recommend take out since the food is pretty good. Things to try: their chat patti chaat and samosas as appetizers. They have a few soup options but last time we were so stuffed so didn't try it. In subs their buffalo chicken sub is mouthwatering. And they have desi style Chinese and it's good. Now I won't miss Golden dynasty in Orlando as much. Try the beef fried rice it was amazing. Manchurian chicken was decent just needed the gravy to be a bit thicker. They have great weekend brunch options with halwa pure cholay etc. I haven't tried their Peruvian specials but they do have a Peruvian chef as well. So I used to eat at Ellie's a lot years ago. Although it's 30 minutes away from my house, I would still drive that far to get my favourite spicy chicken sub. But then I found out Ellie's was shut down due to inspection by food regulation because it was that unsanitary in the kitchen. Then they reopened and when I returned after over a year, it looked pretty clean and well kept. So I went ahead and recommend it to my friend who was visiting from New York. He went there to eat and guess what? There was a bug in his sub! Disgusting! And when they told the waitress, she had absolutely no reaction whatsoever. She said oh! Yes! Just oh! Since that day I feel disgusted by all the times I ate there!! Some restaurants just never learn from their mistakes and definitely don't value their customers and business enough to fix some mistakes that can make or break a restaurant. I went back after a long time due to a not so good prior experience but since then the ownership has changed. Tried out their Halwa Poori breakfast on a Sunday on someone's recommendation who stated that it was as good and comparable to another place in sunrise which is famous for weekend breakfast. I must say, the breakfast here is very good. The portion size of the gravy's is very big and then the poori's might be a little small compared to other places but the taste makes up for that and additional poori's are very nominal in price. This is authentic Karachi style Halwa Poori as they will serve you the chana gravy and potato gravy separately and also the taste of the gravies is different.
