They offer early voting for the civic minded. The place is picked up, and clean, with a playground for the lil' ones to go crazy on. The parking lot could use some improvement. When things get packed, there's nowhere else to park. They seem to be doing some sort of improvements on the parking facilities, however. So stay tuned. They offer lots of places to stretch out in the sun, or under a giant oak tree. However, I think it's a little against SA's values to prohibit pinatas on the playground!

I recently visited the Vintage Flea Market where I was able to walk around the property a bit after shopping with the various vendors. I am in awe of all the beautiful oak trees on the ranch and all around in this area... they are sooo magnificent! Jackson acquired the property possibly through a card game and since he owned the land the longest, his name was given to the historical status. Jackson put a Stagecoach Stop on the property which he called "The Watering Hole". In 1915, The Drake family purchased the property. Mrs. Drake was friends with Marion Koogler McNay which you can see similar touches made in this home as hers, now the McNay Museum, during their time here. Passing through the hands of a few more owners with some minor changes, even being abandoned at one point, the current owner has registered the property as a Historic Landmark. I have not seen anything yet to connect the Jackson Ranch owned by William Jackson to Vance Jackson which has a road named for him which is right down the street. Also down the street is the Jackson - Keller Road. Now if you didn't know before, here's a little tidbit of local historical information for you... in SA when you see hyphenated named roads, it means Ranch to Ranch... Jackson Ranch to Keller Ranch. Other examples are Perrin Ranch to Beitel Ranch, Jones Ranch to Maltsburger Ranch. Well we now know where heart the Jackson Ranch is located... right here! The Historical Jackson Ranch is a great places to visit if you love to explore the history of San Antonio. The food was catered with the venue and it was very good and hot. The lady in charge was there for the entire party and was kind and helpful. We had a wonderful time and the best part was seeing my grandchildren enjoying their well deserved party. We completely were satisfied and I know if need to we will use this venue again. It was fun to watch them prepare the boil and screaming to each other yes chef... right out chef... and that excitement went down to zero the moment I tried the crawfish. I could give the space 5 star and the crawfish zero stars. But combining the space, experience and food I will give it a 3 The chef himself passed by which was appreciated asking about the boil. I kind of got intimidated for a moment but I did express they were very very small. What I didn't say is these poor creature have had better days! Too much salt and bad crawfish I stopped and threw it away! I still give the benefit of the doubt him saying it is the beginning of the season. I may give it another chance I believe he has another boil in March

The meeting room had beautiful high ceilings and a good lighting. They had clean and plentiful restrooms plus a nice big courtyard for vendors. The whole space was very handicapped accessible. 02 May 2026…read more Attending a former boss and friend's 80th birthday. 300 or so attendees. This is quite a place. Spacious. It appears the venue can accommodate just about anything. There is an entryway where a table was set up to receive gifts and write a note in a journal. At the end of the evening, this same table held bottles of luxury room fragrances for guests to take home. There was a stage for the band, a decent dance floor. Several carving stations were spread throughout the space. Also, at least four bars staffed with competent bartenders. Expresso martinis seemed to be the drink of the night. A full bar and several beer brands were available. You can leave the indoor space to the wraparound balcony and peer into the zoo and see the city skyline. We were able to see a lady lion prowling around in her lair. If heights bother you, this might not be your thing. It's up there. The only 'miss' is the lack of signage on how to get efficiently out of the parking lot. Especially in the dark. Not straightforward. Even the valet remarked as such. Once out, we drove through several of the park trails until we hit Tuleta and out to Broadway. Getting into the place was much easier. Of course, then it was daylight.
