Ridiculous what they'll do to your hair and call it a haircut here. Been here several times, with several different barbers. The only people that deserve a job in this spot are the ladies in the back that know how to cut kids hair. Otherwise, every man in that shop will send you out with whatever they damn well please, regardless of what you asked for. Place is made to feel like a manly spot but they send you out with a 4yr olds bad picture day haircut. Leave the plaza. I made an appointment online, showed up, and the barber I scheduled for the cut was not there. This was the second consecutive and third time this happened. I have been getting my hair cut at this barbershop for a couple of years, and this type of thing never used to happen. It seems as though they allowing customers to book appointments online and not honoring them. This is a problem because there is often a wait for walk-ins and no place to sit. What's funny is that when someone makes an appointment online, reminders of the upcoming appointment get sent with requests that the customer alert the business if they can't make it. While I like the cuts this place offers, I will not be going back. For the prices they charge ($30 for a cut), there should be a basic level of professionalism and respect for customers' time. read more

I made an appointment with Vinnie who was recommended to me by family. When I got there and asked for Vinny, they made me wait and sent another barber out (1st time) He said he was Vinnie and knew my family. The picture of Vinnie on the website when you make an appointment did not look like the guy who was massacering my hair. They laughed and spoke another language after I asked him who he was and if he knew my family. the old man in the first chair on the left chopped my hair. It should be 0 stars. I have been getting my hair cut by Nino for years back when he cut at Astor Place II. Back in the day he cut my hair for my wedding. After moving from SI, I tracked him down to a shop he opened a few years back on Victory Blvd and Jewett and he just opened this place in the south shore 3 weeks ago. Very classy place, wood accents adorn the walls, pressed copper ceilings and polished concrete floors. As always, consistently excellent men's cuts. Good understanding of what you want. I usually get simple fades. A step up in quality in both atmosphere and technique. I will time it so I get my (and now my son's) hair cut here every time I'm back in SI from the west coast. First off, good luck getting a parking spot.Looks like a friendly place yet out of the 7 barbers only 2 state issued NYS liscenses were displayed (This seems to be a trend on Staten Island) .A little pricey for just a haircut & when I paid I was not allowed to include the tip in the price on my card ( I had no cash on hand) I had to go back..The owner needs to evolve as most people don't carry cash..It's not 1999!!! When I first started going , Annie would shave my head bald. Then Ivan. Both are great. I never get to that side of the island anymore. Two weeks ago ,Alex gave me a shape up now that I grew hair out again. Sharp! My experiences have been great. Annie is super friendly and greets me by first name all the time . I brought both of my son to get hair cuts. My oldest went to the guy in the far left chair. I asked for a simple fade with a part line. He made a terrible fade and brought it up to the top of his head. Looks like a bad mohawk with a line. Back of the neck line is crooked. My younger son used the guy in the middle chair. He was very nice, but very inexperienced. Parted his hair the wrong way and the fade is very bad The only saving grace is that the guy in the first chair has experience and did his best to correct the mistakes. In short, unless you're using the guy in the first chair....... don't think about using them. The skill level is not there read more

Got a nice clean haircut and a beard trim. Cut was $15 and the beard trim was $10. Vinny was my barber and he was attentive to what I wanted and confirmed as he worked that the cut was on track. Pleasant experience and I left pleased with the cut I wanted. New shop, second location of an established barber. Could use more prominent sinage out front. This place is new, and right near where I live, I'm sorry to not give them a good review, but kind of disappointed. I cut hair myself, and have been cutting my own hair for years.. I do fades and tape ups.. My haircuts on myself pretty much always come out good.. good fade, no line left, and I'd say my haircuts are an 8/10.. When I go to a barber and PAY for a haircut every now and then, I expect my haircut to be even better than how I do it on myself, since it's easier to fade someone else's hair than your own, and I expect the fade to be even tighter.. I won't attempt a bald skin fade on myself, just because it's hard to do it on yourself... I've gone to masters on seguine a couple times, and both times they gave me a perfect 10/10 haircut. So I decided to give this new business a try. The barbershop itself is very nice, and in a great convenient location for me.. and I felt really comfortable in this nice place. The barber also seemed very nice. The haircut itself ($15) was not that great of a haircut, and I definitely could of done a better haircut myself.. The whole point of me going here and PAYING for a service today, was to get a haircut as good, if not better than I can do it.. This haircut I got here, was BAD. The guy did a HORRIBLE job on the box out.. HORRIBLE, how do you let a guy leave a barbershop with a crooked box out.. I had to fix the box out myself when I got home.. the box out itself ruined the whole haircut.. Thankfully me being able to go home and fix it, was a savior. The FADE, the guy also did not do a good job on at all..I got a tape up, and on both the left and right side, he left alittle bit of a line. No excuse for that, you're a barber, you should know how to fade, that's pretty basic.. I ALWAYS do my tapeups and never leave a line.. or sometimes when my haircut is stubborn, i'll have an annoying line but after adjusting and spending time on it, I fade the line out.. This haircut the fade wasn't that sharp at all.. I was going to attempt to re fade it myself when I got home, but that part I just decided to leave alone. When I go to Master's on seguine, they spent easily over 30 minutes cutting my hair, the guy really paid attention to detail and wouldn't just let me go with a bad haircut.. this guy at Woodrow, did my haircut real fast, spent about 15 minutes on the haircut, didn't pay as close attention to detail, and due to that I was left with a bad haircut. If you want to go here for a fade, they are definitely NOT the place to go to, and there are other shops so close that can do a good fade.. for a basic scissor cut, maybe this place can do the job. read more

Nino's new shop is really nice - quality decor and very clean. It's a little more his style than his shop on Victory/Jewett since he designed it himself. Both places give a great cut - I've been going to him for almost four years. He has good attention to detail and likes to chat with his customers. He's building up the staff at his new location here on Woodrow and they're already very solid. I can't recommend either location enough. read more

This place is pretty neat. Old school look on the inside. I went there once and got a really good haircut by one of the barbers there. My only problem with the place and this is why I can't give it 5 stars is that they are a little unorganized. When you walk in it's a real tiny place. You take a seat with a bunch of other people waiting in the corner of the shop and basically the barbers just call next and it's up to everyone sitting down waiting to figure it out. A simple sign in sheet at the door would alleviate all the confusion going on there. Doesn't have to be anything elaborate either just a simple piece of loose leaf for the customers to write their names on and for the barbers to call from when their chair becomes available. That being said I'll give this place another go but this time I'll go earlier in the morning when it's a little less busy. read more

Was charged $27 for a cut and shave but here is the thing I did not get a shave didn't really hit me until I left what I was paying for so wasn't going to go back. I won't get my haircut here again although location is convenient very nice place but no one not even the cashier even cared I was there. I went to get my hair cut twice at Woodrow barbershop and the second time I tried out Johnny, I think that's his name, and he had an attitude the whole time, he rushed me out of the chair and was very rude. If I ever go there again I will never use Johnny, I suggest you don't either. read more

I would stay away! I explained to the woman I would like a scissor cut, but she COMPLETELY buzzed my hair off! Not only were the sideburns completely uneven, but she made it look SO choppy! I also had bald spots and lines from the razor. She had no clue how to fade. I ended up buying a hat because I am so self-conscious about my hair. When I explained to her how uneven and short my hair looked, she accused ME of not explaining correctly and gave me an attitude about it. I turned to the other barbers for help, but they took her side and told me to just "put gel in it." I ended up paying in full and even tipping, which I regret. If you're hesitant about going here, I'll send you photos of my botched haircut. If you do go, make sure you make Nino cut your hair. I came back because he did such a great job the first time. They absolutely lost my business by the way the situation was handled and it's a shame. read more
