This is a great place for all your hardware needs. We needed a very specific rubber insert peace for a wooden threshold. I didn't think there was a chance it would be there; but, they had five options to choose from. This hardware store stocks everything and more. They boast a big selection of Milwaukee tools, coats, and clothing as well as Carhart and Columbia clothing and gear. They also have a great paint department. Also, check out the section of the store with the home decor and USA nostalgia items and artwork. She stoically finished the transaction. I thanked her and she remained mute. Lucky for Jenna that there is a dearth of employees in the north woods. Actually, I need to update my previous review. While all the stuff I said earlier about how good their selection is, I would be remiss if I didn't also compliment their friendly and helpful staff. I would put them far above larger box stores like the Home Depot or Menards, which aren't in this area anyway. This place is the mini-bar of hardware stores. I realize it's Woodruff, and everybody has to make money, but charging 2x to 3x more than your average Home Depot / Menards leaves me feeling that all prices are calculated against a 30 mile drive to Rhinelander. On the upside, the store is clean and the staff is friendly. The Dollar store is 'meh' and the fact that they installed a 'knickknack" section for the discerning tourist makes it feel like less of a real hardware store. read more

The lady who matches paint colors is the best anywhere. She is amazing and is now my goto person for anything having to do with paint and supplies. read more

The hubby rented a trencher here today as we need to run an electric line to our new outbuilding. After about 10 minutes, he knew it really was not what he needed as we have sand here. He rinsed it off, loaded it back on the trailer and returned it to Ace, where they refunded the fee! We had hoped for a bit of a break, but a total refund was unexpected and really appreciated! These guys get it right. Frankly the best customer service I've ever experienced at a hardware store. Went in to fix trailer lights and a rep came out to the parking lot, trouble-shooted the problem with me, replaced the ground, and offered the most cost effective solution. Spend 20 minutes with me on the trailer at no cost. This ace deserves your business! read more

They had a breast awareness bucket where anything that fits in the bucket was supposed to be 20% off. Cashier took it out of the bucket, but didn't apply any discount. Then had a propane tank refilled. They have a key chain then punch and after 5-6 refills you get one free. I thought they had stopped it several years ago, because they never asked or mentioned it. Last year I saw them and asked about it. Was told oh no of course we still do that. Today went back inside after realizing I didn't get one. Was sent to three different registers and customer service and they couldn't find them so said they're out. Not hey we will make good when we have them back in stock or anything. I don't mind paying a little more especially to help a local business, but prices are pretty high on most things and not much of an inventory. This kind of attitude and service seems to have become more normal lately. Keeps happening and I won't go in there any more read more

Great store. Has everything you need and helpful staff. Not just hardware either, but kitchen stuff, pet supplies (even had the extra large dog crate I suddenly found myself in need of--Walmart and the pet store didn't), and you never know what you'll find in their dollar store. read more

Best dollar store I've ever seen, alot of things you'll buy but really don't need, but hey, it's only a dollar. The Ace has everything you'd need hardware wise, the prices are a bit higher, but there isn't a Menards or Home Depot anywhere near here. read more
