We found that this farm fit the bill, with different pick-your-own options depending on season. Apple season had just started, so we headed on over. We first went into the small shop, where we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful young man. He explained how to determine which fruit was ready for picking, and sent us off with our bags to fill. The rows are well-marked, and I was thrilled to see that my favorite apple -- honey crisps -- were ripe and ready for picking. The farm has a large variety of apples -- golden delicious, gala, sweet surprise, ambrosia, etc. -- though not all were yet ripe. The trees were producing a lot of fruit, all of which was easy to reach, so our bags were filled in no time. We returned to the market, where we purchased quite a lot of additional fruits (peaches) and vegetables (okra, giant Marconi peppers, sweet banana peppers, green onions, and eggplant). They also sell other farm-fresh produce and eggs. There are also handmade wooden ornaments for sale. We didn't taste our haul until returning home -- both the peaches and apples taste amazing. Crisp and sweet. Fresh off the tree DOES make a difference! We haven't tasted the vegetables yet. -5-stars for food quality. -5 stars for staff. The gentleman in the store was very engaging, patiently answering a ton of our questions about the farm and its products. -5 stars for value. The prices are competitive with local grocery stores, but you're getting fresher products. -1 star for location. LOL. The farm is two hours away from our home! I wish it were closer to us. We would definitely be regulars there if it were! Seriously though, the location is easy to find, and convenient from Harrisonburg or Massanutten.

She explained which peaches were available, where to pick, she made the experience very easy! They also had PYO flowers, it was so fun walking around because the flowers are everywhere. If it's your first time here you may want to drive around before you park. Depending on what type of apples you're aiming for you may want to drive closer as it's an incline up. You pay for your apples at the store. There you can find pies, apple cider, bread, canned goodies and they also sell meats. The apple season began a month ago and most of the apple trees were picked at height level. We used an apple picker to get the apples high up. It was a beautiful, clear day ; about 80 degrees. Watch your ankles as the ground is uneven and there can be a lot of apples on the ground under and near the trees. There were other vendors near the store and portable toilets throughout the property. We are hoping to pick peaches next season!

Green Truck Farm did not disappoint! We were greeted by rows and rows of black raspberries, which I had never experienced before, but taste like a more flavor-packed version of raspberries. After we had our fill of black raspberries, we walked over to the blueberries and picked our hearts out. Advice: -Black raspberries tend to sell out first so start there if you're planning to pick at both places. -Subscribe to Green Truck Farm on Facebook for the latest updates about ripeness. -Visit their cousins down the road at Hartland Orchard for other fruit (cherries, peaches, apples).

We went the last week of May and there were still hundreds of strawberries to pick from! When you first enter the orchard/farm they give you a box that contains 6 of the strawberry holders. When we went in May 2021, they were around $4.99/lb. You have rows and rows of strawberries to pick from that are spread out nicely enough that it was easy to avoid people who didn't wear masks. The process was easy and the strawberries were delicious! My family and I demolished 6 boxes in less than a week.

In addition to apples, there were a variety of salad greens and pumpkins available to pick, you could even dig up potatoes. Because we went toward the end of the season, we were able to cut sunflowers for free with our apple purchase. Expect hills and uneven surfaces for walking, so wear appropriate footwear so you can enjoy the experience. Views are beautiful, the colors were popping across the horizon. After you fill up your picking bag, don't skip o out on the apple cider donuts. Made on site daily with cider from the orchard...while not warm, they were fresh and delicious.
