Recently visited here for a girls weekend. We had about 13 in our party. The grounds were beautiful. I can only imagine what they look like in the spring and summer. The wine tasting was nice. With large parties you are given a flight to try. No need to stand in the tasting room. I liked several of the flavors. After the tasting we took a walk around the grounds taking in all the animals. Because it was winter, we didn't spend a lot of time in the lavender fields. We did however visit the lavender shop. I purchased a lavender honey spot and some delightful lemon crunch lavender ice cream. Overall staff were friendly. I would recommend this business for anyone in the area or visiting massanutten. read more

Stopped past while on a recent birthday trip to Massanutten. And this place is really beautiful. White Oak is a family-owned lavender farm that is located in Shenandoah Valley. You really get to enjoy an immersive, interactive experience on the farm. There is something for everyone, from interactive gardens and live animals. The best for a cute little DIY wine tasting. You can bring your own charcuterie platters, which is what we did to go along with our tastings. They have tasting room called the Purple Wolf Vineyard where you can purchase your portable tastings, wine, beer and slushy flights . I would definitely return again, great place to host a cute birthday event, with your friends. They also have a really nice gift shop as well. read more

This place is truly best for a DIY Wine Flight adventure. The service in both the gift shop and wine bar were great and both have lovely variety in both normal gift ship items and truly fun unique lavender flavored items. Even tea and sugar to sample! Watch for mosquitoes but it was fun collecting and cutting our own posies. I would not pay for the "experience" which is more a petting zoo though the animals are fun to watch. You can get wine, cider, ice cream, and other charcuterie treats right on site to taste. We bought all their ice cream types to try and while I didn't get much lavender on any of them, they were super creamy and refreshing to enjoy on a hot day with friends. If your local then this is a great reception spot or birthday weekend hangout. For tourists this is a fun afternoon! read more

Today visited a lavender farm / winery with lavender infused wine near massanutten resort. Anyone nearby should visit as a unique experience. Learned a lot about lavender and its infusion in wine. Didn't know that lavender is both an herb + shrub used culinary, medicinal and aromatic uses, and its infusion in products is diverse. This property is uniquely cool with multiple engagement points: a winery, lavender product store, indoor and outdoor event center, mini petting zoo that's family friendly, and just overall very engaging. Lavender In the wine was so different, and they also offer it to taste in coffee, tea, slushies, chocolate and more. I likened it to eating edible orchids... plant-floral and earthy and different ... I visited with my family, including an autistic son. He has a toy gun that has an orange cap and only makes noise. We checked on our way in if it was ok, and left it against the rail while we played outside. The owners removed it from where it lay. My son panicked and we went in to ask if anyone had seen it. It was given back to us and we were told someone thought it and our purchases had been lost and were brought in. Owned then stalks out outside and lectured us thoroughly. Your farm your policies but WOW they were exceptionally rude. A sign or one comment would have been fine. Don't follow me lecturing me. read more

My favorite winery and seating area in Harrisonburg, VA! My graduating senior daughter introduced me to this place. It is a pretty expansive property. We went a bit early, and there was plenty of parking. I see parking being a problem during summer, and folks are out on weekends. The good news is that Uber service is available in Harrisonburg, and the winery is pretty close to the city limits. There are several buildings on the premises. Find the tasting/serving room and order off the menu there. They have many tasting options available for their wines. They also have food available from a cooler to eat with your wine. There are plenty of outside places to sit, and there is a vast tented seating area where you can also enjoy your wine. I have not seen the entertainment there, but there is a stage. I recommend this place while in Rockingham County, VA. read more

My husband and I were visiting Massanutten Resort, and saw an advertisement for live entertainment at the winery part of this farm. It was only about 15-20 minutes away from the resort, so we decided to check it out on a Saturday night in late August. Plus, White Oak was the "Best Winery and Gift Shop" winner in the 2023 Best of the Valley competition. The farm was easy to find, and parking was plentiful and free. Finding a place to sit, however, was quite a bit harder. Given that the band was already playing, many of the better seats -- from which you could see the band -- were already taken. A table under a tent in the periphery would have to do for us. Wine and Food. My husband then set out to find drinks and some food for both of us. I stayed back to "save" our coveted table. For me, he ordered a "Wolf Flight", which featured two white and two rose wines. (2.5 oz pours; $18). For him, he got the Full Tasting, which includes all 12 of their wine offerings (except sparkling wines). (1/2 oz pours, $18). He and a waitress carried the wine flights back to our table. The building wherein he ordered the wine offered wine (flights, or by the glass or bottle), wine and non-alcoholic slushies, eight varieties of beer (pints ($8) or flight of four ($12), and self-serve meat and cheese, crackers, snacks (nuts, applesauce pouches, ice cream), and beverages (bottles water, juice boxes, and soda). However, on this day, there was also a food truck on-site (Russian Kitchen) so he decided to order hot food from the truck. Unfortunately, the food truck was overwhelmed -- and he had to wait 45 minutes to get our food. And, some of what he intended to buy had run out. On the positive side, it started to pour (rain) while he waited, but the storm subsided before our food was ready for him to carry back to our table. Thankfully, the food, and especially chicken kebabs, was very tasty. Entertainment. The band, called "Standing Room Only", was entertaining. As the evening progressed, patrons were dancing along. No cover charge. Ice cream. We had read that White Oaks sells "lavender ice cream", which we HAD TO try before calling it a night. The ice creams are in self-serve freezers -- we picked one vanilla one and one lemon one to share. Both were very tasty, with a preference towards the lemon one from both of us. And, sorry White Oats, we both would've preferred the ice creams without the addition of the lavender. Pros. -- The wines were tasty, with more choices for those who prefer sweeter wines. -- It was a fun evening, with a good live band, food truck, and the opportunity to taste the WOLF wines, and lavender ice cream. -- The tent held up even when the rains were quite heavy. Cons. -- We had almost zero interaction with any White Oaks staff, unless it was initiated by us. The one exception was the woman who came to our table with an offer to join one of the numerous Memberships such as the VIP Lavender Club ($1,000 per year) or the WOLF Pack Wine Club (6 bottle semiannual $120-$180). -- The cost point at the winery is high, in general, but especially for a full-tasting flight. Twelve wines, with 1/2-ounce pours, is only 6 ounces of wine total. $18 is excessive when you consider that a glass of wine here is "only" $8. -- The single food truck was over-whelmed in trying to provide food for the special activities (Pirate Palooza) of the day and evening. Lines were excessively long and they ran out of foods that we intended to order. We would return -- and still have activities at the farm to check out (the gardens; the farm and farm animals; and the gift shop with items made from or enhanced by lavender). read more

While out on a road trip, we decided to stop at this winery. We called ahead to ask questions and spoke with a person named Sam after reaching the location. Parking was fine. The wine was good and we finally met Sam. Sam was in the gift shop and she was so helpful and explained everything and more about the property and what it had to offer. She even wanted to do more research and calculations in order to help others in the same situation when they order from the Cafe. We come here every year we are at Massanutten. It's about the only good thing to see around here. They have really expanded and now have a tasting house (which you. have to pay for tasting) and a farm with lots of animals (which you have to pay for to view). Sadly the lavender is out of season, but it is still a great place to visit. The shop has loads of cool things to buy. I just wish they would padlock the barrel of lavender buds so children can't go scooping through it while parents gleefully watch. My friends and I were on a girls trip to Shenandoah and found this gem of a farm close to our AirBnB. We went for the wine tasting, but were pleasantly surprised to find that they had animals, a beautiful garden, a food truck, live entertainment, and gift shop with the most amazing lavender items. I left with a few tins of culinary lavender, but they had everything from coffee to aromatherapy to ice cream with lavender! The wines themselves were fabulous - they had about 6 whites, 1 rose, and 5 reds. It was so fun to read the notes within each wine with my friends before taking the sip and watching one another's expressions. I will definitely be coming back during my next trip to Shenandoah! read more

This place is great! For starters, the vibe and aesthetic is very peaceful and relaxing. Parking is nice and there's several shaded spots. We enjoyed playing with the animals and the various scapes and scenery. They have a lot of Lavender products, just about everything you could imagine in the gift shop etc. This includes tea sampling fyi, which is nice and smooth. The wine tasting area was cool. We tried their 12 flight. I don't think Reds are their strong suit, but that's difference of opinion. We mostly enjoyed the whites, which we don't normally drink, and bought two of our favorite. There's an outdoor stage area for live music and a large lounge area outside. This is a real nice place to get away. We're coming back every time we're in the area. read more

We stopped here on the way back to our hotel. It's located in the country so there's a pleasant drive getting here. With free parking, we wandered around a bit and found the staff very friendly. The scenery is very picturesque and a great place to sit and relax. While there we tried several things. The lavender lemonade is very good, and the lavender strawberry ice cream is good but the lavender comes out more with the lemonade. What a cute lavender farm and winery on the outskirts of town in Harrisonburg! We were in town for a JMU football game and my friend who has family that lives nearby suggested we stop by the farm for a visit and to shop. For only a 10 minute drive from our hotel, it's very scenic and relaxing and well-maintained. It's larger than I expected with a few working barns, farm animals, and several zen spaces. You have to pay $3 to walk around in the enclosed farm/zen area and they have a large chess board and seats, a few gazebos, a duck bond, a zen rock garden path, rolling hills and hummingbird and butterfly plants, and lavender bushes. Lavender wasn't in bloom while we were here but it was still lovely to see and very relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed sitting by the duck pond for a while and walking the rock garden path. Afterwards, you can shop in their gift shop where they have many lavender-themed items and sell soaps, lotions, teas, oils, ice creams, olive oil and jelly and jams. There is also a winery onsite with a wine tasting area with tons of seating and room to host large parties. Plenty of parking. Worth a visit. I want to come back on a warm day and cut lavender and have some ice cream. read more

I am totally embarrassed that I did not complete a review for this vineyard sooner. It's been 2 years (8/28/2018) since last visiting but I remember every detail as if it was yesterday. This winery is one of the best ever!! The location is easily accessible from main road, beautiful grounds, impressive outdoor tasting room and perfect indoor store Who knew the scent of lavender could be so divine... Meeee !! That's why I visited people, stay w me here !! Haha Anyhoo, our outdoor tasting experience was handled by Rebecca & Kayla and they were fantastic and accurate w taste descriptions, great personalities, etc. My husband and I tasted several different wines and enjoyed them all. The Reisling and Dragonfly was my 2 favs. There was no way I could leave without a bottle of wine so I purchased a bottle for our friend's who we vacationed w. Just when I thought things couldn't get better, I stepped into the on-site store! This place was magnificent w everything lavender!! I had to negotiate w myself on what items to buy and which to leave! So many items to pick from!! They had novelties, soaps, creams, home decor, condiments, you name it. I left w a lavender candy bar, lavender soap and a lavender body cream. So many pleasant thoughts of this place remained with me after leaving that I look forward to returning back. We make it a point to visit a different winery annually when we visit Massanutten Resort and I think this winery may be put into rotation more often :) read more

Happened upon this place after walking alpaca at a nearby farm. The smell of lavender instantly hits you and is intoxicating. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or wine slushy like we did. Very beautiful place. It was $3 to come in and explore the grounds, which was well worth it. My daughter enjoyed running around and looking at all of the statues and such. We saw bunnies and goats. They are not allowing anyone to come in and pet anything, but that is fine. The gift shop is very nice and the wine tasting area was nice as well. Everyone who works there was very pleasant and helpful. I definitely recommend this place for a visit; there are places to sit and have a picnic lunch as well, which we will certainly do next time. read more

We went here on a whim. We were exploring the area for a nice overnight getaway. My mom and I love lavender so it smelled amazing when we arrived. It had a cute little farm for us to walk around. $3/person is super cheap but of course it's also a really small farm. I'm fine with that. The lavender ice cream was delicious. Just the right size! What a great find! Made a trip out there this weekend for a lavender wreath making class. What a lot of fun! They have a great little gift shop stocked with all sorts of lavender products. They have wine tastings and lavender ice cream too. There's a beautiful garden you can walk through. Lavender farm and vino? Yes please! We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. The lavender store was busy while the wine-tasting area was a tad quieter. We loved how warm and friendly all the staff was. So many lavender products (if you are a lavender fan, which I totally am) and things to look at. They even had lavender tea, lavender coffee, and some lavender jams to sample. My absolute favorite was the homemade lavender ice cream (came in vanilla, blueberry, strawberry, and lemon). The wine: they had wine tasting and wine flights. We tried their entire red line, 2 of the wines were lavender infused, but no one in the group was really impressed unfortunately. I enjoyed seeing the large selection of house-made lavender products... soaps and body products, cookies and seasonings, lavender-stuffed linens, and oils, to name a few.
