My mother's wake and funeral were in 1995, and my brother's wake and funeral were held at T&K in 2017. There was no problem, and our family was satisfied with everything. Both of these times, our dealings were with the same woman. My less than satisfactory experience with my husband's wake and funeral were overseen by a man (I won't even use his name). I've instructed both of my children that when I die, DO NOT hold my wake and funeral at Thomspon & Kuenster.

It wasn't a big deal, but it was disheartening that there was not an explanation for this difference regardless of the amount. Their facilities are beautiful and they are professional in their approach. I would like to see the business move to update their payment system to avoid the challenges we experienced.

Since the services, I have consistently contacted Cage Memorial--approximately every two months speaking with Bethany, to ask when my aunt's death certificate would be available. The last time I called was in May 2026. I was repeatedly told that the delay was due to the medical examiner's office. On August 26, 2026, I called again and spoke with Roland. I was placed on hold for approximately ten minutes. When he returned, he told me that the death certificate was there. When I asked when it had arrived, his response was, "What difference does it make? It's here now." I found that response extremely dismissive, especially after waiting so long and repeatedly following up. I went to Cage Memorial that same day with my sister to retrieve the death certificate. Unfortunately, the situation became even more upsetting disrespectful, and aggressive. Roland yelled at us, made derogatory comments about our skin color, and continued yelling at us as we left the building. He also stated that he had no empathy for the situation. Losing a loved one is already an incredibly difficult and emotional experience. Families should not have to deal with additional stress, hostility, or disrespect from the funeral home and the owners handling their loved one's arrangements and documents. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Cage Memorial to anyone. I encourage families to research their options carefully, compare prices, and read reviews before choosing a funeral home. The way a family is treated during one of the most difficult times in their lives matters.

For example, for my sisters arrangements, we had to follow up for 3-4 days for them to post the obituary and when they did, they only posted the service hours. Not even her photo or the obituary we had so thoughtfully crafted. She said her daughter in law would do it then she said her worker would do it. It never happened. They did not have her cards made up, they had no toilet paper and no coffee on the morning of the funeral. That is not service and it made things so much more difficult on the family.
