My buddy insisted that this was the best place to get take-out cooked seafood that he was willing to drive us 40 minutes one way to eat here. I should have known it was going to be bad when he tried to order for two days and couldn't get through. He tried calling in an order on Friday for Saturday and after calling about 10 times he got a person and that person told him to call back on Saturday. On Saturday he called a bunch of times and finally got through. Ordered us a half-tray with an extra pound of shrimp added and two Maine lobster tails. This plus an $8 soup-sized container of garlic butter was $80. To our surprise when we got home we had about half a pound of shrimp in our tray. It's supposed to come with 1.5 pounds and then we added an extra pound for nearly $15, only to find out we had about 15 shrimp total. It was mostly potatoes with 6 ears of corn, and some sausage. We tried calling them about their mistake and they didn't care, just said sorry better luck next time. Really???? We definitely weren't about to drive another hour and a half to go get the missing items even if they offered, but we were hoping they would offer us a replacement next time or something. They just don't care. To top off the goat rodeo, when we got there there's a sign on the door saying cash only that their credit card machine was down. They were sending people to an ATM down the street which had a $8 withdrawal fee. And when you get there to pick up your order, there isn't a separate line to pick up pre-made orders, so we had to stand in line 25 minutes (took that lone to move 8 customers through) in order to pick up our incomplete order. My buddy who loves this place was bewildered at how small the shrimp were. He had picked this up once before and the shrimp were twice the size of what we got, small shrimp. And to top it all off, he told me how great, how sweet the shrimp were...they were not good. The skin was hard to peal and the flesh would come off with the skin....I've had better shrimp from Walmart. ' I will never spend my money here again. I would have been way better off going to a sit down seafood restaurant and it might have been cheaper. Definitely better and more accurate service. read more

I bought scallops here a couple of times and they were delicious. However I bought more today and when I got home I opened them n decided to cook them as usual. When I opened them there were only half of them that were whole scallops the rest were pieces. I was shocked but I cooked them anyway. They were definitely not as they should have been. Woods Seafood has the freshest shrimp in the Savannah /Pooler / Port Wentworth area. The shrimp are actually caught that morning and brought to Woods by 2pm the same day. They sell shrimp whole, without heads and in a couple sizes. Fresh oysters, crabs, oysters and other sea delectables. They also sell a variety of seasonings and cookers. If you love low country boil like I do, Woods sells it too! Individual plates or large pans that feed 6-8. They will spice it up for you, add extra sausage, etc. I get this often for our family and for company lunches. read more

I've tried a lot of low country boils, this place is the best around! A little out of the way but I highly recommend calling ahead and getting the Low Country Boil Tray, it feeds 2-3 (1.5 lbs of shrimp) or the larger that feeds 6-8 (3 lbs of shrimp) they'll run you $28-50 but it's a Ton of food! Shrimp, Corn, Potatoes, and Sausage! Also make sure you get a tub of garlic butter and get some Old Bay seasoning to dump on it. One of my local favorites! read more

It is extremely difficult to get someone to answer the phone, but that is beside the point. We called first thing this morning inquiring about blue crab; the woman on the phone said it will be in at 2:30 so call back at 2 and we will have it ready. We started calling back before two and couldn't get anyone on the phone until after 2. The woman on the phone says she is sold out of blue crab. We reply with what we were told on the first call and she begins to catch an attitude for absolutely no reason. Maybe our order should've been taken down the first time we called, but this is not my business to run and call the shots for. This place isn't worth one star, based on my experience here. Big mistake going here! I went in 45-50 minutes before they close. I couldn't buy anything! Their excuse.. 1. They've already cleaned the table. 2. They've already shut the boiler off. So, no Low County Boil, and out 2 dozen crabs (boiled) Also, out 2 fish (cleaned) and 2 dozen shrimp (prepared) in addition. They lost a big sale, just because they wanted to go home early? When you post your hours, and close at a specific time, it's best to run your business correctly and have all product and services available until you lock the door for the day at that time. Does the owner of the place know you close everything down an hour before you close? How many sales have you lost because of it? Will I ever return there? NO Will I recommend this place to anybody? NO Will I tell everyone I know about this experience? YES Will they go there in the future? PROBABLY NOT It's sad even a customer goes in during business hours and doesn't get the service they deserve, when the two young adults inside want to go home early. What a poorly run establishment. Who ever owns this place, should really think about hiring new staff, or putting a sign on the door that says "We're open until 6pm today, but we shoot everything off an hour early because our staff doesn't care and just wants to go home". I went to get crabs last week for the first time, I got the large male crabs live and they were huge, huge and huge. I am from Hampton Roads Virginia and I can get crabs a dime a dozen in Virginia but not here...so I have finally found a place I can call my crab home. I'll be back as often as I can!!! read more

I went to Woods seafood to purchase clams and scallops. Took them to my daughters as a treat because I live out of town. I cooked the scallops and they tasted like SOAP come to find out scallops come in two different ways in which I did not know. They come wet or dry. Woods seafood had the wet ones and it said on google that they taste like soap. I tried to get a refund and they wanted to give me a credit. I told them I live out of town. I brought the scallops back to them. They had the nerve to put them on the scale and weigh them. Of course they're not going to weigh the same as the one and half pounds that I purchased between all the liquid and the the shrink when you cook them. I purchased them at 24.99 for the pound and a half and my refund was $11. That is poor customer service. could not believe that she was telling me they only refund what you bring back well I brought back all of the scallops, except one that we tasted..!! I tried to talk to the manager the same person who refunded me .when I saw the amount on my receipt, but she was out back and one of the employees went to get her and which I stood there for five minutes for her never to come back in so I told the one worker I will never be back again and you will get a nasty review!! read more

Woods is probably my new favorite seafood market. The fish was fresh, the shrimp looked good and had that fresh quality that other "fresh markets" claim but don't quite have. My only problem is that I ordered large head on shrimp but when I got home the shrimp varied greatly in size. Typically not an issue with most seafood but for shrimp it is a bit inconvenient as different sizes cook different times and overcooking shrimp causes a great drop in quality. Otherwise, highly recommend just make sure you pay attention to the product you purchase. read more

They don't answer the phones and you have to call a dozen times just to get an answer. The last 2 days I went in there the phone was just ringing and the young lady pulled out a cell phone to answer the call and after she ends the call she left the phone on the counter. Today it was the same thing only I never got an answer and when I did get there of course it's busy which I understand, I wait in line and over hear the same young lady who was there yesterday tell one of the guys if the phone rings don't answer it. The customer service is horrible, my fiancé was told one price for cooked crabs and when I get there to get them I'm told something else.
