Extra star because the portions are HUGE. Also extra star for our nice waitress, Josie. She brought out a sample of new grits the cook was whipping up, too, and that was a delicious snack while we scoured the menu. What I ordered: - fish basket

They now have a full size restaurant in front of the Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx and Aldi shopping area in Statesboro. This location has been about 50 restaurants over the years (yeah a little exaggeration lol) and I hope the Saucy Shrimp can succeed there. The restaurant is large, very dark and has the more dramatic decor from a previous owner. We had the fried shrimp baskets which came with a good bit of small medium shrimp and fries ($15). We ordered some hushpuppies ($2) but couldn't eat them as they contained corn. Never had corn in a hushpuppy before. The batter was kinda sweet. Good variety of sauces to try and they were generous with their sauces. Service was great - very friendly and quick to refill our waters. Some menu items were reasonably priced and others were a bit absurd. I'll be back to try some other items on my next trip to the 'boro.

He asked us how we were thinking of cooking the fish, and what we were making (ie- pan, fish tacos). He then gave us some recommendations and told us about each of the selections. We were impressed by how knowledgeable and friendly he was. We went with the triple tail and it did not disappoint. It was a perfect for blackened fish tacos and cooked quickly. High quality fish and tasty! A great local fish market, will definitely be back.

The store also had some frozen options and there were some souvenirs. The guy at the counter was friendly. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars was the price. I just went to the local fresh fish market at Platt's in Myrtle Beach one month ago, and most prices here were almost DOUBLE what I paid there. My husband and I discussed that the rent is likely much higher on Hilton Head and they likely have a more affluent clientele that affords these prices. I got the cheapest options to take back to Charlotte in my cooler. I bought 1 lb of tuna ($23), 1 lb of XL shrimp ($16), and 20 of their $1 oysters in season. The gentleman generously gave me 24 oysters for $20. He also offered ice for my cooler. Customer service was excellent. I spoke with one of the regular customers while waiting in line and they highly recommended everything. I'm adding a photo of the tuna rice bowl I made. Ignore the fact that I overcooked it, it was my first time. However, the fish tasted excellent. I really liked the Asian cucumbers I made to go with it !
