They would even create custom drinks for you if you gave them a few flavors and a liquor to work with. I hadn't had that experience in YEARS! Honestly, some of the best cocktail bars in my area have some pretty basic drinks and the bartenders aren't even close to as knowledgeable as these ones here are. The decor was very cool and interesting. It had classy vibes but on a budget which is exactly the types of places I enjoy going for drinks. 4 of us hung out there and had 2 rounds each and I was floored with how reasonable the pricing was! I almost didn't want to write this review so that no one else would go and I could keep this little gem of a bar to myself! I highly recommend going and checking this place out after dinner to finish off your evening. I know I will most definitely be returning soon!

Check-in went well enough, the person who checked us in was functional. Not rude but not really pleasant either. The downstairs common area is beautiful and the room itself was quaint and cute! Everything was also clean and kept. There was a small annoyance however. In our particular room there was an air conditioner right at the ceiling above the bed which had a very bright blue light. There was no way to turn it off unless you turned the AC off, so if you're anything like me and need it to be dark, bring a mask or something. My husband even said "I feel like we're on the moon..."

We love staying at a B&B rather than a chain hotel when we can. We took advantage of the Crayola Experience package, which is offered for either of the two-room suites that accommodate up to four guests. The main room has a King. The second room (more or less a sitting area on the way to the bathroom) has a twin with a trundle that can accommodate two kids. The package can be booked for a single night and includes admission tickets for up to four people, a Crayola gift pack for each kid, and a tray of snacks. Ours included some fabulous homemade peanut butter cookies! We booked two nights (the additional night was less than the first with the package). As a family of three we basically broke even on the additional package price vs. buying our own tickets, gift, and snacks. But this is vacation and to have that all taken care of plus the fun surprise for our daughter waiting in the room made it more than worth it. Lafayette has a comfortable, family feel. The wrap-around porch was a great place to sit (and run if you're a toddler) and everyone made my daughter feel welcome. By the second day she was calling it "our new house." The breakfast menu for the next day was posted in foyer each night. We had made-to-order omelets with choice of bacon or sausage each morning with different fresh fruit and homemade baked goods each day. Yogurt, cereal, and a variety of breads were also available. There were to-go cups for coffee along with mugs. Pastries plus coffee, tea, hot chocolate, whole fruit, and sodas were available all the time in the parlor. Having a DVD player in the room allowed us to have a family movie night. We brought our own, but the front desk also had lots to borrow. Only wish we had had some popcorn!

The kids of course loved the indoor pool and the available snacks the front desk had available for purchase. The room was clean and a nice size. It was cozy and cool. The perfect pair for sleeping.

Unfortunately, when I got to my room, I couldn't sleep on the sofa bed and went to the front desk to see if they had any other rooms. Christine was a life saver. She was so lovely, understanding and really tried her best to get me a bed. She ultimately was able to switch me to another room and that made the stay worth it. Breakfast had a good amount of seats considering the breakfast area was tiny. The food was constantly restocked and piping hot. The cinnamon buns were good and always a great option for my kids. Hot breakfast rotated between cheese or veggie omelets, bacon, sausage and biscuits. The orange juice was very diluted but there's milk, apple juice, another type of fruit juice and water. Coffee was constantly stocked and hot water was actually hot! We really enjoyed our breakfast here and the seating area was clean. The pool is a great feature of this hotel. It's a pretty large size compared to some hotels, and fairly clean. I love how bright it was and there is a bathroom inside opposite the entrance. They do need to stock more on towels. There were only five when we arrived. The pool has a window on the side where you can peep into the gym. It is small inside with one of each standard gym equipment. It does the job. Overall, great stay and kudos to Christine for saving my back.

Quality Inn - That constant fan button is nice for ventilation and background noise even if the compressor thumps loudly when it engages.

Several of us embarked to hike all of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania and rather than drive out from Harrisburg we decided to stay closer to the trail on a couple of our hikes. The Quality Inn was one of the least expensive options that would work for our current hiking segments. Two of us had to switch rooms: me because the air conditioner made a rattly vibrating racket and the other one because her TV didn't work and her room was missing a hair dryer. I was not impressed with my first room which was stifling when I entered. It also appeared grungy. I couldn't actually see dirt but it was an impression. I had asked the front desk for help about the air conditioner and, apparently, so had my buddy. In the end, the gal from the front desk came and looked at and listened to the air conditioner and said it was really bad and switched my room. She was unable to help my buddy with a hair dryer or the television so she also got switched. The switching was done without fuss and complaint. In fact, checking in was easy and done by two friendly staff, one of whom visited our rooms and changed us out to different rooms. The gal at checkout was also super friendly. Our beds were comfortable, there were plenty of towels, all our TVs worked. Of note was that the water pressure even on the fourth floor was powerful and refreshing. Breakfast was not what anyone was expecting: oatmeal packets, bagels with cream cheese, cold cereal, yogurt, and one waffle iron. The dining area, although austere in appearance and furnishings, was kept extremely clean by a smiling attendant who never stopped cleaning except to wait on people at the front desk. This wasn't anyone's favorite hotel but I'm hard-pressed to give it fewer than 3 stars despite the cracks in the plaster, the water-stained ceiling tiles, and the slightly shabby appearance of various parts of the hotel. If you are realistic in your expectations, you may be pleased.
