So many five-star reviews for Woogie's Sandwich Shop. There is a reason for this. Woogie's has great sandwiches that may be too big for your tummy. Smallish selection, but everyone should find at least one sammy they'd like. It also has the usual things you'd find in a deli: potato chips and soft drink dispenser. And it has one extra thing that puts it into the five-star setting: personality. Woogie's is anything but bland. The walls have offbeat signs with witty quotes on them. Also completed jigsaw puzzles. Those who work here are also friendly. Like many small places in the South, you place your order like at any fast-food place, and then the cashier or owner brings it out to you, always with a smile. It has drive-through too, but you miss so much by getting your sammy that way. I tried Woogie's late last year, and it immediately became a place I'd remember fondly. "Man, I gotta take the hunny here!" Last week, I did. And she loved it too. Side note: she thought she recognized one of the couples eating here. She asked them, and no, they didn't know her, and they couldn't: they were passing through from Idaho. I'm glad they saw one of the better offerings in this country town of 10,000 people. I was on the road and hungry for something quick & good, outside of fast food... Counter service, small menu with limited variety and the place was full so no seating was available. Ordered "to-go" and ate it on the road. The place is small and has a lot of funny signage. Friendly staff. Ordered a Turkey sandwich which comes heated with their special gravy. You can get Lrg or Sm sandwich. Turkey was thin cut deli cut style. Skimped me on the lettuce. However, the bread is buttery and has a crisp flakiness. Very, very sweet, kind of like a donut... They asked my bf if he wanted sweet or jalapeño bread, but I didn't get asked anything, so I figured it came with reg bread.... My mistake. I wanted tea, but they were out. Service is quick! We received our sandwiches fast! Wrapped in paper inside a brown bag. No napkins or anything were included. I wish I would've noticed before leaving. Overall a good sandwich with fresh deli meats in a clean restaurant. Stop by if you're looking for something filling & fresh. Ask about the bread choices! Also, PARKING SUCKS!! read more

I was passing through Vidor and stopped here because my wonderful wife recommended it. I ordered THE SWAMP THING - A deep fried baguette with special mayo-jalepeño sauce and creole crayfish etouffee to top off the generous thick deli cuts. THE BEAST is also a favorite sandwich of mine. It includes the same mayo-jalepeño house sauce with large portions of deli meat. The fried baguettes is also perfectly crispy, flaky, and flavorful. This sandwich will not disappoint. My dad and I were welcomed by their very polite staff and both husband & wife owners came by to check up on us to see if everything was alright. I definitely recommend this place and plan on coming to try more items like the crayfish pistolettes as well as their other signature special sandwiches on the menu. read more

Ummmm, yes! I stood at the counter at Whataburger for five minutes before I realized nothing sounded good. As my husband ordered his food I glanced out the window and there was that cute little Woogie's sign. I yelped it, of course, and decided I needed it in my life. Whatever you do please get a crawfish pistolette, it was magical! The bread was crusty and buttery like nothing I've had before, and the sauce inside was sooooo good! They use quality ingredients and the almost flaky homemade bread really makes the sandwich. Truthfully places like Jimmy Johns are a form of blasphemy against Woogies. I was looking for something different than the everyday sub shop and someone recommended Woogie's. I had the Swamp Thing and it was amazing. A good size for my appetite and a very good Cajun flavor to top it off! I was even kidded by one of the owner's questioning whether I was "Cajun enough" to truly enjoy their food. Support local business!! If you're in the area, seriously - this is where you want to eat! After hearing great things about a place called "Woogies", I decided to give it a try. Immediately upon entering, we were welcomed with a greeting and noticed the clean atmosphere and friendly vibe. I ordered a ham and cheese on sourdough and my grandmother, was hesitant and undecided on if she wanted the "jalapeno gravy sauce" on her sandwich, the owner told her that the gravy truly makes the sandwich and guaranteed she would like but that if she didn't - he would personally make her a different sandwich to her liking. As we waited, we all enjoyed giggling at the random humorous signs hung throughout the establishment. Literally, not even 5 minutes after we sat down, the lady delivered the freshly made and toasted sandwiches to the table. The food: excellent. The sourdough bread is absolutely ammmaaazing, even my picky toddler ate most her food - now that's saying something :P After we were done eating, the owner came up and started conversation with my grandmother to make sure she enjoyed the sandwich and welcomed us back. I had gone to order a brownie as dessert.. and he gave it to me free of charge! Then even offered a second one, for free, to my daughter. This is a nice little sandwich shop in town with a laid back atmosphere. The menu is not to diverse though, but the sandwich I ordered was pretty good. My one wish, I could choose between a large variety of bread for my sandwich. The sourdough bread overcompensates for the meat. Other than that, no complaints on my end.
