We picked up a meatball sandwich, the chicken cutlet and the Americano sandwich for take-away. It's a walk-up and pay kind of spot where you can either sit and eat it there in a casual environment, or get it to-go. We would have eaten there but had plans with a friend and bring some food over already...So we picked up a couple of things from the well-curated market as well. --About the food --- It's so hard to choose a favorite because each sandwich was worthy of getting on-repeat. But, if I had to choose I'd say the meatball was my perfect bite- the sauce was phenomenal, the basil and fresh mozzarella on their choice of bread gave it a unique edge on other meatball sandwiches around town. The bread is amazing I can't stress that enough! It's airy with chew and the perfect crunch. I really can't wait to go in and try some pizza- might try it tomorrow? I've added some close-up photos of the sandwiches so your stomach and mouth can see what I'm talking about. Go in and check them out. Great food and warm service. You will be so glad you did!

It was $3 to add mozzarella, which is fine but they forgot to put the arugula on the sandwich so it was just a very dense spicy meat and cheese sandwich with no freshness to cut that down. The bread for the sandwich was also stale and hard to bite. The people working were friendly, but need to double check their product.

I had so much fun exploring Tokyo Central & Main! What makes this place unique is that it's…read moreactually made up of three separate stores--two grocery markets and one dedicated to merchandise featuring everything from adorable Japanese plushies and cookware to cosmetics, electronics, and so much more. And yes...I had to explore all three! Both markets were bright, clean, and incredibly well organized. One of my favorite sections was the tea aisle. As someone who absolutely loves tea, I was in heaven. Their selection is huge, with everything from loose-leaf teas to powdered varieties that you don't typically find in traditional American grocery stores. I'll definitely be back to stock up on a few new favorites. I originally stopped in to purchase a matcha whisk set, but it was a little more than I wanted to spend. That didn't stop me from finding a few treasures, though! I ended up browsing the cookware section and picked up a beautifully designed set of reusable chopsticks along with beginner-friendly M-shaped training chopsticks. One unexpected highlight was getting to try a hand massage machine. It applies pressure to acupuncture points throughout your hand, and wow--it felt amazing! I'm seriously considering going back just to buy one. The produce section also looked fresh and inviting, so I can definitely see myself returning to shop for groceries. Plus, since my sons love anime, I already know they'll enjoy checking out the merchandise store with all the fun Japanese collectibles and character items. Whether you're looking for authentic Japanese groceries, unique kitchenware, specialty teas, or fun gifts, Tokyo Central & Main is absolutely worth visiting. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by--you'll probably leave with more than you planned, just like I did! And you already know you can always thank me later

They tray had about 40 pieces of sashimi, large pieces but a bit uneven cut. It did come in an attractive plastic boat so great to bring to a party. The tray was $55, no tax, ordered online. You pick up at Customer Service near cashiers. I saw online they do Japanese sandwich trays as well and they looked pretty tasty.

My first stop after moving back to San Diego: my beloved local Nijiya Market Oh how I missed you!…read moreThis is my favorite of the 3 JP markets in SD. My home!!! First of all, thanks so much for being open on July 4th!! So appreciated. Happy to celebrate my United States of Nijiya today! When I lived in SD 3 years ago, Nijiya always had such an amazing selection of produce, shelf items, sushi, korokke, miso (I didn't see こだわってます today tho)... and today was no different even though it's a holiday. Super well stocked and clean, bright, welcoming. They always have like 5 different varieties of negitoro which is my fav. I can't even tell you how comforting it is to come back after 3 years in Ohio lol I love that they have herbs and plants outside. Can't wait to buy some and inevitably kill them by accident later :) Staff is always sooo sweet here. The line always moves really quickly. Fish quality is always so fresh and delicious. Maybe the bento boxes etc aren't as flashy as Mitsuwa (from what I remember) but they are tasty and not super expensive. I also love that they have so many types of korokke and yakitori. I am so glad to be back and soooo glad to get my comfort food & feeling from Nijiya today. いつもありがとうございます!!!

We went on a Wed at 4:30 and we had the whole place to ourselves. There was someone mopping so you know it's clean. The owners were very kind and the chef recommended the lamb and chicken over a bed of rice with chicken and raisins. We also split a Greek salad. The entree was so delicious! And they had some yummy sauces, not needed but added extra flair. The lamb was my favorite and my mom favored the chicken. There was enough for leftovers. My husband had a bite when I got home and loved the chicken, now he wants to go! So we will be back! Price was very reasonable for his yummy it was and the wonderful staff.

There was also a little grocery/market section on the side. Promptly the waiter came over and seated us and took our order. We had the mantu, chicken seekh tikka naan, and qabuli palow. Everything we had was full of flavor that's in harmony. The mantu was soft, creamy, and savory with slight tanginess. The meat from lamb shank was falling off the bone and the rice beneath absorbed its juices. This dish was fantastic but don't sleep on the chicken because it was moist and seasoned perfectly with the spices. This place is a keeper.
