There used to be a time when buying shoes, there were actual professionals that measured your foot, and knew their stock in order to suggest what suits you best. This is that place! They have a wide selection at various price points from entry level to the very best made. The sales guy had me stand on the measuring device and brought me a delightful boot that was on discount. I actually had to bring them back due to my job requiring 6" boot shaft, but the selection of the second pair and return of the first was very easy and pleasant, with no attitude. My boyfriend dragged me along to pick out new work shoes for himself, while running errands in town and I have to admit Dave ( I think he's the owner) has a very good operation here. It is tucked away in the lower evel corner of a 2 story building on S. King street but parking is ample and free. So don't drive too quickly like we did and have to circle back. The store is on the left hand side of the street. Apparently, people shop here for quality steel toes shoes, which is just the opposite of what I wear to work on a daily basis, but Dave definitely knows his product and was very accommodating to my boyfriend trying on so many pairs. I kind of felt like a mom shopping with her indecisive child, ready to just pick out a pair myself for him, as he definitely made a mess for Dave with all of those shoes! We both thought that it was different that Dave put the shoes on my boyfriend each time he tried a new pair. You really don't see a lot of shoe sales associates doing that any more. The worst experience EVER. The owner and the owners son is very confrontational. I had a defective shoe, they exchanged it but kept saying that this is one of the best selling shoes. Well the exchanged shoe failed again and I got the same answer. I decided to get the same shoe based upon them saying that they never had a problem with the shoe, but when you research the shoe online - there are problems. The 3rd time it happened, is when the owner and son became very rude and continually kept saying that I had received 3 shoes for the price of 1 - what? I never kept the other defective shoes. His implications was that it was my fault. He raised his voice and stepped into me as if we were in a WWF throwdown. His lauguage is very condescending, disrespectful, antagonistic - then passive aggressive. The first time that I purchase a shoe from here, I had excellent service. It was when the shoe was defective that you get to see Mr. Lee's true colors. If you have a problem with a shoe, I would suggest that you come with many people - perhaps then the would rethink about the way he speaks and treats people. read more

I want to give a huge thank you to the two young guys who were working there - wish I had gotten their names. My dad is 96 years old and walks with a cane very very slowly. The person helping him was so patient and so respectful! He gave good suggestions and patiently brought out shoebox after shoebox until my dad found something he really liked. Even the other employee was helpful and showed us a shoe with elastic laces. He suggested that they could change out the regular tie laces for elastic ones - a great suggestion ny dad loved. The store was getting busy but each customer was greeted upon entry and no one was ignored. The two employees were helpful without being pushy or intrusive. It's a small store but the selection is excellent and with my dad's small, wide feet there were many styles for him to choose and even with all his pickiness he left there very happy. I've just experience the worst service in my life. As a consumer, I have never been treated so horribly. An explosive son and defensive owner, who would not accept a returns or exchange. I know it's hard to run a business in Hawaii, but, run your business with Aloha. Make sure you treat your customers as repeat customers. I like to support local businesses that support the locals. While researching, what I initially liked about Work Shoe Hawaii was that it is locally owned ... When I got there with my wife, it was crowded, somewhat chaotic. But it was less than a minute before someone called out asking if they needed assistance. Will was very helpful in suggesting a shoe. Sized BOTH my feet, explaining that often times one foot is bigger than the other, and then brought the shoe out. He then took the boots out and proceeded to lace them AND help me put them on?! Truly disappointed after seeing all the other reviews for this store. My spouse decided to take a chance at the store instead of ordering online because he was in desperate need of new work boots. I had sent him here knowing that they had good reviews and the boots he wanted. The beginning was good and he found the boots he wanted, it was not until, while I was on the phone with him, that I had mentioned a price I had seen online. We had already decided he would not order from online no matter the price due to shipping costs and the time frame he needed them. After I mentioned this on the phone the boy helping my husband snatched the boots from him and would not let him try them on if "he was going to buy from online." My husband ensured the associate he would not be buying from online and he in fact wanted those boots. They refused service to him so my husband decided it was time to leave. The owner (or manager?) chases him out of the store as he got in the car yelling at him to never come back. Truly disappoint as we were looking forward to getting him new boots. We will not be returning to this store ever and now will have to suffer ordering them as this store had very poor customer service and claimed to be "local." read more

My husband has to take the agility test for Hawaii Stevedores so he needs steel toed shoes. The owner was so helpful finding the right fit for him. He really knows his stuff. He even showed my husband how to tie the laces a certain way to make sure the shoe stays on tight. Just picked up my first pair of working shoes from Work Shoe Hawaii. On the side, I help setup for live sound, and comfortable shoes is a must. I chose the Sketchers Relax Fit with Memory Foam with Slip Resistance; due to its comfort for wide feet, built in memory foam and grip. I didn't need the steel toe shoes(which I thought, at first, that was all they sold), so these shoes worked out perfectly! They ran $70 + tax, but trust me you don't want to skimp on a good pair of shoes. Your feet will thank you later! I even got the Lace Locks for around $9 + tax, so you don't have to tie your shoes! Their location is right off of Waiakamilo Rd, in the same parking lot of New Hope Metro Christian Academy. They are professional, friendly, and helpful. I'm usually apprehensive in shopping at a store for the first time, but they made my purchase feel very comfortable and they were personable. I would definitely shop here again for work shoes! This small store is hidden away on the mauka side of King St a block past McCully. Despite its size, there's a good selection of work shoes covering jobs from nursing to construction. I really appreciated Dave's time and patience as I tried to find a steel toe boot that was wide enough for me. There were several options to choose from, all reasonably priced. Unfortunately, after I got home, I realized the pair I bought was not all that comfortable around the top. I kept them in the box for a few weeks before I had a chance to return to WSH to see if I could get another style. The exchange was no problem for Dave, who was as helpful as he was the first time I went in. After trying a couple different boots, I picked another pair, which I used today and they're great! The show starting ripping apart after THREE months and went in to see what they could do and all they said was that I should've bought better shoes! like REDWING perhaps?! Unreal!!
