I can say that work world is one of my favorite stores! I'm not sure what the hateful reviews are about but every time I shop here (which is like 4x a month) I get help when needed and if they don't have an item in the store, you can order it with the help of an employee. If people shop here while the store is super busy on a weekend, of course it's common sense that the employees will take longer to help you! Bottom line, Work world is the best! read more

Absolutely unbelievable. I have NEVER seen a store this poorly run. The aisles are a disaster boxes stacked everywhere like some kind of obstacle course. It is blatantly unsafe. Products are shoved way up high with ZERO assistance available. Am I supposed to climb a ladder myself? Because that's what it felt like. Customer service? Nonexistent. Employees take forever to acknowledge you, and when they finally do, they act annoyed that you even asked for help. Sorry for expecting you to do your job. Only ONE fitting room is usable, which is ridiculous. The rest are apparently just for decoration. I was shopping with my son and felt genuinely concerned for our safety the entire time. Because of the mess, I couldn't even purchase the gift I came in for. This place has gone completely downhill and is a total waste of time. Management should be embarrassed. Horrible customer service. I've tried giving this location multiple changes after the Newark one closed down and each time I am disappointed. The staff barely knows anything and they ignore you. They have good products but I won't return ever to this store. Today 08/08/2022 around 2:00 pm I went to get some work boots and I asked girl who works there, (she has pink hair) if they have size 8.5 she answered me in a very bad way like mad she turned to see me angrily, then in less than a minute she came back and told me they don't have 8.5 I asked her what about 8? Can you check please? Again with bad actitud she told me we don't have, but she not even went inside to check. read more

One star for great items n selections. No stars for the staff. I went to this store today and there was 3 ladies that work there, all behind the counter. None of them said hi or welcome. They seemed bothered that we were there inside the store and it was no customers but only me and my daughter in the whole store. Nobody asked us for help, I had to approach them to help me look for work boots. They have no customer service skills whatsoever and they don't even smile. I love this store but they make it a negative experience for me each time I go there. I might need to look for another work store like this somewhere else. I felt the need to post this so maybe there could be some changes. This store also needs men employees, it's mostly men clothing and gear. read more

My wife and I went to the Work World store in Southland mall looking for some work pants for myself. I was prepared to spend a large amount of money. The children they have working in the Southland Mall in Hayward couldn't have cared less that we were even in the store. It seemed to be an inconvenience for the employee I asked to show me where the fitting room was. I will never waste my time shopping in a store where the employees could care less. It was no wonder my wife and I were the only people in the store. I advise anyone looking for work clothes to go anywhere but Work World at the Southland Mall in Hayward. read more

I would actually rate a 0 if i could. Pros: They carry many brands. Dickies, Carharrt, Wolverine, & etc... Cons: Way overpriced! I'm a regular costumer for a couple of years now and every time I go back, they always raise the price $2-3. So, I use to by Dickies pants for $20, now they are $27. Might as well just go to Walmart. Also, this place is employed by a bunch of morons. The cashiers/customer service on floor are not very knowledgeable about products. Some are very rude. Some are dressed inappropriately (lots of cleavage, tight pants, etc). It's not a very welcoming environment. I feel uncomfortable. One more complaint: the manager is rude. he comes off as a jerk and he doesn't really care about your needs. he looks a little goofy too, little 5'5 guy with long curly hair in a slick back ponytail and some thick black glasses. seems like he's been pushed around a lot, so he has a defensive guard up. don't like him at all. I suggest if you already know what size you are in your work clothes, buy online. buy directly from carharrt or dickies, etc so you won't have to deal with such a sucky place!! read more

Big selection of shirts and pants for men. I like the brands and styles they sell and the prices are extremely reasonable. Sure it's staffed by blasé teen girls, but who cares, they answered my questions and showed me to the fittings rooms. My new go-to location for everyday attire. read more

This place is awesome. Carhartt's, Dickies, etc. Has just as much stuff (if not more) as Halmar in Berkeley, and unlike Halmar there's no Rush Limbaugh on the radio or the "only one person allowed in at a time" policy. Also they don't lock you in. Kick ass. read more

They're the only place that has my size, so I really didn't have a choice. Prices- I think it's comparable to other places and it's a name brand. I don't really like their return policy though. But that might be the norm for shoes. read more

Worst service ever! I bought a set of pants two weeks ago from work world and the following day they ripped. I tried to come back the following week to exchange them and they refused due to they went not clean. Nobody had informed me of their store policy to wash them before returning them on the day of purchase. I made a special trip out today to try and exchange them again. However the lady at the front desk I had a terrible attitude and they cannot do anything without a manger present. Needless to say I will never shop at the store again, you should take your money elsewhere where prices might be a little higher but you get better service. read more
