I've been working out here since August, and I can honestly say joining Workout Anytime in Cary was one of the best decisions I've made for my health and strength goals. From day one, the experience has been excellent. I walked in, had a great conversation with the manager, Mike, about my goals, and within a few days I signed up for both the gym and personal training. Mike is knowledgeable, approachable, and truly invested in helping members succeed. My main goal was building strength, and with his guidance, I've not only gained strength but also lost weight and inches along the way. What really sets this gym apart is how personalized the training feels. Mike helped put together a training plan with different workouts and a plan that works with how I actually eat no extreme or unrealistic restrictions, which has made it sustainable and effective. That approach alone has made a huge difference. The gym itself is always clean, organized, and well maintained, and the recent updates to the equipment and locker rooms are a great bonus. I also love that it's open 24 hours, with secure scan access when staff isn't on site it makes fitting workouts into a busy schedule so much easier. On top of all that, the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff and members are friendly, and it truly feels like a supportive community rather than just a place to work out. gym is always clean, i tend to avoid the early mornings/after work hours, so never have difficulty accessing multiple machines, plus, there is a nice side room for stretching. curious that there is only 1 upright cycle, (my preference, ) but fortunately it is always available for me to use. read more

Tiny gym, and has much worse equipment than the location at lake Wheeler It has a far smaller selection of equipment and what they do have felt wobbly and janky and on its last legs. The pec deck grated and ground on every rep and I had to stop mid set from concern that I might tear a pec using it, the chest press wobbled, the seats were jammed on some machines and couldn't be adjusted, everything is far too close together and they didn't seem to have some very basic equipment that even my garage gym has The Matrix plate loaded machines are OK but the selectorized ones that I used were all long past the point of needing to be replaced Vibe wise it's like a rest home or golf club gym, definitely zero energy at least during the couple of times I've been, and a much older crowd than the wheeler one I only go when I absolutely have no time to go to the wheeler location, it gets a strong "do not reccomend" read more

This is a small gym with too much equipment crammed in; it's frustrating to even get around the space, especially when it's busy (weeknights). There's only one bike. If you like being around grunters, weight-slammers, and inconsiderate people, you'll like it. If not, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

I'm mostly happy for the money I spend. It provides what I need. The equipment is clean and it gets repaired when it breaks. I like that I can go whenever I want. They've got showers. I do wish it wasn't so crowded with equipment, especially semi-blocking the entrance to the bathroom. And it would be nice if there were blinds on the windows when the sun shines in around 7-8am. It is too bright to watch anything on my phone while I'm on the treadmill. The staff is friendly and helpful if you need them. I would recommend to someone who wants a low-cost gym. read more

I am using the tanning bed at the workout, anytime Location in Mint Hill, North Carolina, and can only use the bed when slocation is staffed. So going by the staff hours on a Saturday, a very busy workout day, there should be someone staffed from 9 to 4. It is now 1130 and there is no one to be found. I heard that workout anytime was open currently to those with medically necessity. I was super excited and emailed the establishment asking if they needed a physicians note/proof of necessity and would love to start a membership. They responded with no proof was needed and to come down and sign up. All around their gym, an advertisement is posted: $1 start up cost for $10 a month so of course when I came in, the girl working check in asked what membership I'd like and I said the $10 a month and she told me it would be $100 to start today. I was confused and asked about the advertisement literally outside their door and she said it was incorrect and her boss will not honor it and also will not take it down. She didn't know why, and asked him to do so several times. Bait and switch. Then she tried to say there was a $20 credit card fee included when I responded that I could pay check/cash- she said she would still charge me the $20 fee? ALSO, when you walk in - it is clearly stated, masks are to be used while working out. All the time. And there was a woman fast walking on the treadmill without one. I pointed this out to the girl and she simply said, "Oh... well she's suppose to be" and I asked her if she wanted to go tell her to put it on and she responded with, "I will later". As the woman on the treadmill panted all over the equipment and those surrounding her. Lastly, I asked why they didn't require my medical necessity forms to work out, she said it was because of HIPA that they couldn't accept outside paperwork (hello, fax.. email...) In other words, they are working under the guise that it's for medical necessity when not actually implementing that at all. I declined to sign up for a membership because of the bait and switch tactics, lack of COVID safety precautions, and attempt to implement unnecessary charges- Also, I waited outside for 5-10 minutes before leaving, while on my phone and the woman who was without a mask- never was told to put one on and continued to workout without a word from staff read more

Great gym that is always super clean and accommodating. I requested lighter weight bumper plates for deadlifting and a week later, 2 sets of 10 lb and a set of 25 lb appeared! Nice clean gym with all the equipment I need. Does it have all the bells and whistles a fancier pricier gym would offer? Nope. But I don't need all that anyways so workout anytime fits the bill. A lack of a professional and appropriate response to a health concern forced me to cancel my membership at Workout Anytime on Maynard Road in Cary today. I have been a member since June 12th of this year, and up until today, have enjoyed my daily workouts, in a location only a block from my home. While working out around noon today, I noticed a young man in his mid-twenties (?), with large, rash-like, open wounds that covered the upper cheeks on both sides of his face. At first, I thought it was some kind of strange makeup due to it being so red. He was doing quick, single sets of exercise on most of the resistance machines. When he sat down at a machine next to mine, I could see ooze from both wounds that appeared to have blood in it, that was running from the wound areas, down his face and halfway down his neck. Totally freaked out and concerned, I approached Rick, the Manager, who had been standing at the computer located at the front entrance. I told Rick about the fellow's condition, the fact that he had been on most of the equipment and had not wiped any of it down with the provided disinfectant and paper towels. I also told Rick that if the young man had any type of communicable disease, it would quite likely be spread to other members. Rick told me that he would speak with the person, and believing that he would, I went back to my equipment to finish my sets. Five to six minutes later, after finishing my sets, I checked and saw that Rick was still at the computer. I changed over to some equipment that I did not see the young man using. After several more minutes, and Rick still standing at the computer, I became upset enough to go to him and say that if he was not going to remedy this potentially hazardous situation, then to go ahead and cancel my Membership, effective immediately! Well, that inspired Rick to finally act. Rick approached the young man, and I have no idea what was said, but the fellow went into the Men's Room. He came out in a few minutes and resumed his exercises. Allowing this fellow with seeping wounds to remain in the facility and potentially place other members in serious risk was too much for me. I gathered my belongings, went up to Rick at the front desk and told him to cancel my Membership. Rick told me that the guy told him that He was a "Physician", and gave him some name for His condition. My response was "How do you know he was telling you the truth? What if he did not tell you the Truth? It may be a chance that he was telling you a lie, but that chance could place your other members health in jeopardy!" I added that he could have, and should have, politely asked the young man to leave the facility and return when he was healed, the wounds properly covered, or could provide proper documentation that indicated that he posed no threat of a communicable disease. I'm pretty sure that no reasonable person would find that request to be offensive. So, in the end; either Rick did not have the gonads to approach the Gentleman and do the right thing, or just did not care about Member Health and Safety. As of today, I am no longer a Member of Workout Anytime, and if you are considering a Membership... you should ask them about their current policy when it comes to people using the facility with open and oozing wounds! This situation, in and upon itself, earns the One-Star Review. read more

This is a nice gym with very fair monthly rates. It's 24/7 which works very well with my schedule. They have most of the essential equipment as far as machines and cardio go and they have Dumbbells that go up to 100lbs. They have 2 cable machines which is nice since they are a popular spot, a stair climber machine which a lot of small gyms don't have, and you have access to a shower. The gym is kept very clean and the staff has always been polite and courteous to me from the start and I have been a member for over a year. I gave 4 stars out of 5 because they are missing a few crucial pieces of equipment that I would prefer to have access to. A squat rack would be an awesome edition to their gym as well as some more plate loaded back/row machines. They have more of a family approach to a gym similar to a ymca than an iron dungeon sort of place so you have to take that into consideration as well. I was paying $140/month a Orange Theory Fitness (group fitness studio for the fancy folks) and in just the one month that I have been going to WOA I have seen more change in my body than in about 3 months of OTF. AND IYS ONLY LIKE $15/MONTH!!! I like the facility, it is VERY CLEAN, all of the equipment is in very good condition, and I feel safe even if I go at night. There are always free treadmills and weight benches. They have the TRX straps and all of the functional training equipment I like to use, a perfectly sized warm up/stretch room, and the Hydro massage is a great treat after you've busted your butt. They also have tanning but seeing that I'm African American... Well..uh...I'm pretty sure its awesome too! I would definitely recommend Work Out Anytime it's a great price, convientent location, and a great facility. read more

I just went in to inquire about a family membership I stood there with my teenage son and stood there while the person behind the counter engaged in a conversation with another employee a girl with a ponytail and they kept talking and talking and didn't acknowledge me there was another older lady to the side no one acknowledged me they were more interested in talking about themselves the girl in the work out anytime tank top was talking about she didn't know they were hiring and that's how she found out and then she found out and got a job. Gym is nice and clean but there are a few things that tick me off. I work out late in the evening during unstaffed hours. You cannot change the channels on the TVs after hours. Learned that the hard way when I wanted to watch a specific game. The next time I thought ahead and asked during the day that one TV be placed on the channel for the State/UNC game. Apparently that was too much to ask and I missed more than a quarter of the game driving home without a workout. 24 hour gym but don't expect to be able to use the tanning bed after hours either. Wifi is also essentially nonexistent. UPDATE: Problems Wifi have been addressed. I no longer have any troubles streaming my HBOGO/Hulu/Netflix/MLB.tv that make my workouts semi bearable. read more

I like to give a good review, but the owners of this gym do NOT deserve it. I wanted to join this gym, but I asked to many questions they accused me of working at another gym for information. WOW that was BAD business, could not give me straight answers on cost. I wasn't going to sign a dotted line. I signed up at my other location no problem. I go to the gym in Cary when am in Town, now they will not give me the Internet ID because I did not sign up with them, with a RUDE NO. 9/28/2017 Update: Reply to the Reply... Wrong! I am a Member of your Club. For privacy reasons, I chose to use an alias. And there was no " lacking of honesty" written in my review. You say your Club is "Clean"; I invite anyone to visit tomorrow and look around the equipment, along the walls, corners, windows. The only areas that are "clean", are the traffic areas that are easily covered by your vacuum cleaner. And while you are at it, look up... at the intake vents in the ceiling and please tell me that there is not 1/4" of solid dust covering them! And it's been there for months. And any observant member will attest to the fact that at least 50% of your members DO NOT WIPE DOWN equipment after use. If you are the manager responding to my complaint, you would have No Clue as to how many people wipe down the equipment, as most of your time is spent in your office, with your nose in your computer. (no offense intended, but really...). And if you are the owner replying, I've only seen you in the Club once in six months. What's amusing, is your attempt to turn a valid complaint into a marketing ploy. That is truly sad, as a more effective resolution would be to simply step up your game by giving the club a through cleaning, and maybe.. enforce a few of the "Member Rules". Seemingly nice people, eager to sign you up, seems that corporate is a bit shady. Unlimited evidentally doesn't really mean unlimited. They tried to explain it away but unless there is a relevant disclaimer, unlimited means just that. Also I canceled, they accepted my card, then still charge me a month AND the rate guarantee fee, thats right, a rate guarantee, for someone that no longer has a membership to guarantee the rate on! Hidden charges and dishonest practices. Signed up for this gym because my schedule kept me from working out during normal gym hours. When I signed up, I was told there would be a cancellation fee if I left before 90 days. I figured that was no big deal, so I wen't forward with it. Six months later, my schedule permits me to work out during normal hours again. When I went to cancel my membership, I was told there would be a cancellation fee. When I say this is unacceptable, the owner comes out and says he's going to put in a code in the computer to clear out the charge. He then told me I had to send an email to formally request my cancellation, though he had already done everything in the computer. I've never had to send an email to cancel a gym membership before... So I sent the email ten minutes later and I get one back from the person I was originally speaking to (the one that got the owner) stating that they're charging the cancellation fee. I've seen a lot of unscrupulous behavior from gyms, but this one takes the cake. read more

Been a member since 10/2016 and plan on staying. 1. Has all the weight lifting and cardio equipment I could need. 2. All equipment is well maintained and repaired very quickly when needed. 3. Staff members are very helpful and will help you whenever asked. 4. Locker room (bathroom and showers) are very functional and kept very clean. 5. For 15 bucks a month, in my opinion, Workout Anytime in Cary, it can't be beat. When I signed up, it was painless and the lady at the desk signed me right up with no nonsense, no BS sales pitch and gave me my key. I see these other reviewers (or crybabies) on here complaining about the TV and WiFi. Those are just the kind of people I can't stand, the kind who sit on the machines and screw around on their cellphones and don't even exercise, hog the machines so people who actually want to work can't even use them. If you are looking for TV and WiFi, keep your fat, lazy butt at home on the couch and eat your potato chips. In case you didn't know, a gym is for working out, not watching TV and effing around on the internet. If I had my way, I'd get rid of the damn TV altogether. I go to the gym for one thing only, to work out and they have a great selection of free weights and machines. These days, people want special service, they don't want to get in shape, they are lazy and expect everyone to cater to them...It's a gym people. Who gives a crap if the girl smiles at you or not. Hire an escort service if you are looking for girls. If you want to watch the game, what the heck are you doing at the gym?! 6/12/2017 I've been going here for almost 2 years now and have decided to cancel my membership. They've stopped cleaning the machines and I haven't seen them vacuum in months. All of the TV's are on news channels (CNN, FoxNews, local news) or DIY Network. When I asked (multiple times) if they could put one channel on ESPN, they said they don't have the ability to change the channel, but would try. The people that work out there do not re-rack their weights or just put them wherever they feel. I've even seen the staff leave dumbbells sitting around after a training session. It seems like the new staff doesn't really care and the place has gone down hill quickly. The only good thing for me about this gym is that it is 1/4 mile from my house. I'm willing to drive/bike the extra distance to go to a better gym. I tried out Planet Fitness and I'm going to start going there instead. 5/2/2017 - I'm downgrading my rating to a 4. The gym has come under new ownership and is slipping a bit. Still a good place to work out for $15/month, but not as good as it used to be. They do not clean nearly as well as they used to and some of the equipment is starting to break (and take a while to get fixed). Also, it is getting more busy at the gym and can get a little crowded at times. Overall, still a good place to work out, but no longer a 5 star rating. I've been going to Workout Anytime in Cary for over a year now. I have a hard time understanding how anyone could rate them anything below a 4. The staff is very friendly and the owner is there almost every day. The equipment is almost brand new and they take very good care of it. I have never had a difficult time using the equipment. There is always at least one bike, treadmill, or elyptical available and most of the time there are many of each available. They have a good selection of free weights and weight machines. The place is always clean and they continue to update when they can. They are always responsive to requests and willing to listen. I originally had the $25 plan (includes massage and tanning) but was not using it enough so I asked to go down to the $15 plan. I figured I would get a big hassle and have to fill out a bunch of paperwork. The only thing they did was told me that my plan was paid for another couple of weeks and they would downgrade my plan then. No hassles, which is something I'm not used to from a gym membership. If you want a good place to work out at a decent price then this is your place. Having 24 hour access is also great. read more

I was a member at the Cary store for quite a while. It was okay. It is just a basic gym. I did like that it was open 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. I also enjoyed the people who worked there. They were all very nice to me.... until I decided to cancel. I had already paid for the month of May. I canceled on/or about the fifth of May. I was told that because I had not given them proper 30 day notice that I would be charged for the month of June. I didn't mind that so much. All of these places have their little rules. What bothered me greatly was that they wanted my entry key at once, and that they wanted me to leave the premises. I had already paid for the month! I was told that as soon as you cancel you are finished. They would allow me to workout that day but that I should consider that, "A gift." A gift... right. I had already paid for the entire month. This is like having to give back gasoline that you have purchased. That is horrible business! Believe me. They don't care and they don't get it. This may be company policy but it is a horrible company policy. Never again. read more

WORST GYM EXPERIENCE!!! Chelsea who works there was very unprofessional. She criticize my husband and I regarding where we decided to sign up. She nasty, sarcastic she was not helpful and very dismissive. We were on the fence regarding staying with workout anytime, but her attitude and the way she dealt with us pushed us to cancel our membership after signing up 1 day and go sign up with another gym. At first my husband was going to keep his membership even though we signed up elsewhere, but the way she spoke with me and the gym's mediocre equipment made him cancel! Good selection of equipment, and with it being open, it's generally not very crowded, except during the after work, evening rush, but that's expected anywhere. Nice Gym. Sign up process is a mess! They charge you $20 processing fee if you pay by Credit card but supposed to refund it if you provide your bank account info within 30days of sign up. I did and my first months bill got billed directly to my bank account. When i called back asking what happened to my $20 refund they tried to cheat me by saying i might have have updated my information on the 31st day!!! Really...that was so *&#@ lame. Going to WOA since it opened and it's the best gym in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. They work hard to keep it clean. It has a gym atmosphere...not a pick up club! I can't understand the handful of horrible ratings. I've been working out at a gym three to five days a week for 16 years, and this is my sixth. It's a good place. I started going to Anytime on High House/Maynard when it openned because of the hours. The same-price gym down the road is twice as big with helpful staff, but they were closed too often when I wanted to work out nights and weekends. 1) It's clean. 2) It has all the equipment I need. 3) After about 8:15 it's quiet, like having your own $100k basement gym. 4) It's starting to settle down and gather regulars, the bench press guys, the treadmill girls, the half-hour stretchers, all the gym rats that comprehend gym etiquette. Be nice if one TV controller were left on out on the counter after hours, but that's no big deal. read more

This is my first review ever on Yelp....The reason i am writing is because i want to let people know what to expect when they sign up. This is the worst GYM in the area. The staff is just careless and specifically Mr Keith Fenn the owner have no regard for the customers. Let me explain, my wife terminated her membership and she gave her one month notice(sep 2nd) with that she left to India on the 15th turning her key in. regardless of her notice she was charged a cancellation fee of 35 dollars and 15 dollars as the last months fee on the sep16th. When I asked why they did that. the great Mr. Keith's reply was the cancellation fee is the companies policy and according to him they did not recieve the notice but they just got the key which was turned in by my wife's trainer. So, I explained him the situation in the last week of sep and he said the money will be refunded to my account and that never happened. i started calling the gym once in thre days every ever since and as soon as i told the staff my name was sos and so they strated telling me that he was in meeting and i patiently left my name and phone numbers. So today, i called them this morning and the reply was he was out. it was ashley who answered the call. i called twice in the afternoon and no reply. Finally this evening at 4 I go to the gym and the front desk personnel told me that His Highness Mr. Keith is in ameeting and i told her i'll wait. she said its gonna last till 5 and i said i'll wait. i can tell that she wanted me to leave. NOw, here is the catch i didn't know how he looked like so i googled him and got his picture. His meeting went on and finally a this keith person came out of the room and he walked passed me and tried to sneak out and yes sneak out. I called him sir excuse me are you coming back and his reply was no. I told him that i was waiting for him for the past 20 mins near the door and the reason for that his reply was oh ya we can not refund you sorry. I told him that his staff told him that i was waiting for him and tried to ignore me and just right pass me. He said he had a family emergency and also he tells me that i am spent a lot of time trying to get my 35 dollars back. I wonder how people still join this Gym when Fitness 19 gives very good rates and a big variety of gym equipment. Please, if you consider joining this Gym please think twice before you get in. I still dont know why anybody would charge you if you wanna leave!!!!!! and they name it cancellation fee. read more

Almost too many issues to mention. 1) too cheap to leave the fans on for people who want to work out after staffed hours - and it gets hot in there 2) they don't refill the paper towel dispensers for the evening clients 3) 90% of clients do not wipe down the equipment after use and the staff never addresses this when they see it (and they do see it) 4) panic buttons non-existent despite that being part of the sales pitch during pre-sales 5) staff members say they'll get back to you about your questions and then don't follow through 6) keep adding specials to attract more members even though it is packed after work hours read more
