I mention this because even though nutrition is probably 75% of the day to day in health and weight loss, this place certainly helped me get to where I am now. Snap was the first real gym I ever visited, and though I've tried a few other places over the last two years I've settled back in where I started. A well equipped gym is an invaluable tool and Snap covers all the basics. To the left of the entrance are five each of treadmills and elliptical machines, as well as three stationary bikes. The back left corner has a smith machine, a plate loading leg press and a machine leg press (and usually the scale is hiding back there too). Left of center are five or so different machines for biceps, triceps, and shoulders. Dead center is a large machine that has two cable pulleys and a lat pull down all in one, and directly behind that is an assisted pull up / assisted dip machine, with the restrooms right next to that. Right of center is the majority of the free weights. There are two dumbbell racks going up to pairs of 100lbs, a rack of fix weight curl bars (also up to 100lbs), five or six different benches, and three plate loading machines, one each for calves, chest and shoulders. Far right wall, starting in the front moving back we have a small nook with 5 different abdominal machines. Next is one squat rack and one bench press with an open floor space typically used for dead lifts or box jumps. Almost to the back there is a single rowing machine then the "studio" area. This back area is a wooden floor with a big mirror running along one side, a long metal frame over top with 3 separate pull up bars, a small rack with some 5lbs-25lbs weights, a slightly larger rack with kettle bells (up to 50lbs maybe?) as well as storage for foam rollers, yoga mats and resistance bands. This is also the area they hold the Intensity group fitness classes. Snap Fitness really is a nice place to get a workout in. On top of all the equipment they offer personal training sessions and group fitness classes if you need a little help. The staff is pretty good at keeping the place clean and putting in work orders should something need fixing. There are a few things I wish were different here though, most notably only having one squat rack, one bench press station and only single stall restrooms. Unfortunately those things are mostly a space issue. There was a time when I hoped they would absorb the vacant space next door and expand, but it seems that opportunity has come and gone. I'll just have to settle for really good instead of perfect.

I have…read moretried just about every type of workout imaginable (running, crossfit, yoga, kickboxing, pilates, barre, spin, bootcamp, etc etc), in dozens of cities in the U.S. and internationally. The coaching and programming at MINT is second to none, and Kristen and Jay have created an incredibly warm, encouraging atmosphere at MINT. I always struggled with double-unders, never able to get more than two unbroken or do singles between the doubles for more than a year. I literally had one PT session with Kristen, and after practicing the drills she showed me for a couple of days, I was able to do 15 unbroken. The list goes on and on--she also coached me to my first true kipping pull-ups, and working with her on deficit handstand push-ups on a box got me from two ab mats to being able to RX hand-stand push-ups against a wall within a few weeks. She is so perceptive to the needs of individual athletes, and has an in-depth understanding of body movement. Every single training session is incredibly fulfilling, valuable, and just plain fun! For starters, the studio in goregous! It's in an repurposed warehouse space with other businesses. Beautiful hardwood floors, bright lights, plenty of space (with a nice area with a couch & coffee table & literature wall) & a booming sound system. You're greeted as soon as you walk in at the checkin / reception counter. Kadi Fit utilizes the key ring card as your membership card, so you'll scan it when you come in. Katie (the owner) & one of her employees, Emma, are welcoming, super sweet , & were great to talk to. They didn't pressure me into becoming a member tonight (which I'm going to join as soon as I get back into the working world). I got to the studio a little early, so I watched the Primal class, which looked almost like a prep course for boot camp. :D However, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves & pushing their bodies to the extreme. Now, for the kardio class. WOW, so much fun! 45 minutes of high energy cardio with a fantastic music soundtrack. Katie & Megan (I believe that was her name) took turns leading high impact dances moves & steps. I really enjoyed myself! There were a lot of women in this class, but we still had plenty of space to move - we sure needed it! Katie & Megan had us all over the floor. Katie not only offers a ton of class options, she also teaches lifestyle. Her online site features a blog with plenty of useful information.
