When I called them to come out and fix the problem they wanted to charge me time and a half for the service call even though I had a service contract. Their reasoning was that it was my fault that I didn't prevent snow from getting inside the air filter. They claimed to have sent out a mass email a month ago notifying all their customers of this possible issue, I never viewed it and no follow-up was ever sent. I also figured that since I am having someone come, I would also have them service my furnace. This seemed very straight forward to me. The pump with an issue is a small unit that is located on the side of the furnace. To my knowledge, all that is needed is to unplug the old and plug in the new one. A new pump retails for about $45. If I were at the apartment at this time, I would certainly do it myself. Anyway, I am totally willing to pay for someone to change the unit and have my furnace checked. I thought this was a pretty easy request, but I was wrong. I & C responded that they would charge $245 for the first hour of the installation of the pump plus the parts. This seemed like a lot to pay for someone to plug something into a wall but I figured that I would at least get someone to check my furnace within that hour - nope they won't do that. To check the furnace they would charge an additional $245 for the first hour. So what could literally be a 25-minute job, plug in the pump, and check my one-bedroom furnace would cost $490 in labor + plus the parts. Their pricing is ridiculous and they couldn't clearly explain how it made any sense. Buyer beware, do a little research before you hire someone, and be careful that they don't charge you $245 per "task".

Can't run any power equipment in the whole basement. I tripped the circuit and all lights went out. Meanwhile the blade was still spinning and we were in complete darkness. Very dangerous. I hired DP Electric to remove my aged smoke/co detectors, and replace them with new ones. They…read morelocated two I never knew I had, so they located a couple more detectors for me at a business less than four miles away, called them to make sure they had exactly what I needed, and my wife drove down and picked them up while they started removing all my old units and rewired to accept the new units. While they were waiting for my wife to arrive back with the detectors, they went through my electric service to check for any issues that may cause problems with new detectors. As usual, fantastic service! I've hired Steve and his crew a couple of times now. I was having…read moreissues with hard wired smoke detectors and Hassett Electrical had only tied one new one into the house. I reached out to Steve at Hassett, who immediately offered to drive out and take a look. Rather than have them drive 45 minutes for something so small, I tried to see if it could be fixed remotely. Steve offered his suggestions and responded promptly to my text messages. When it was determined that the situation needed professional eyes, Steve did not hesitate to schedule a Saturday service call. Hassett showed up on time, with notice when they were 30 minutes away. Naturally, none of the detectors were malfunctioning and randomly beeping like they did all week. Hassett checked everything out, replaced the new smoke/carbon monoxide detector, fixed two other small electrical concerns, and even stayed an extra 1/2 hour to make sure the detectors were okay before driving another 45 minutes home. Steve also reassured me that a weird double outlet wouldn't be a building code issue that could jeopardize the sale of the house. I was only charged for a service call. Hassett stands by their work and if there are any questions, will take the time to patiently investigate. Rates are comparable, the guys are friendly, and as Master Electricians they really know their stuff. Even if they were to go insane and hike their rates up, I would still hire them. I don't trust anyone else with the electrical safety of my home and you shouldn't either. I was lucky to find them as a Home Depot Pro, not through Yelp, Google, or other review sites. When originally receiving work estimates, review site electricians fell short. Home run for Home Depot lining up a great pro!
