I so wish I would have known what apparently everyone else knows, do not purchase parts from World Auto!! So, my mom and I purchased an alternator for our vehicle in the beginning of December. A couple of weeks ago, my mom went to start the car and it wouldn't start. We had our mechanic come out to look at the car and discovered that the alternator we had just purchased had bad coils (something on the inside was bad). I contacted World Auto to see how we would be compensated because this meant we'd have to pay to have the alternator installed a 2nd time. I called and spoke with "Ned", one of the associates, who was very rude and unconcerned, at the very least. He stated that all they would do is replaced the part because the part has a lifetime warranty. I asked about towing because we had no more tows left on our insurance and we still had to have the car towed to the auto shop where it would be fixed. Ned briefly mentioned something about a phone number on the receipt that I could call for roadside assistance. As I was speaking to him further, he said, ok, thanks and hung up. I proceeded to look at the receipt for this number for the assistance. The two numbers I found had no idea of what I was talking about with the roadside assistance. I proceeded to call World Auto back to speak with a manager. I spoke with Nick who was very nice. He took the time to explain that yes, we are screwed and we would only be able to have the part replaced. He stated there is a little 3 fold paper within the box the part came in and the roadside assistance number is on that paper. He also told me that each part has a unique number that has to be registered in order to receive the assistance which is also on this piece of paper that nobody mentioned about when we first purchased or we wouldn't have thrown the box away. So, all in all, we had to pay to have the part put on again and pay for towing in addition to time spent off of work and the stress of having to find someone to take us around while we got everything taken care of. Avoid this business, if you can. I am from Cleveland, but I live in Indianapolis. Over the holidays, I brought my car to my family's mechanic here in Cleveland. It was determined that I needed a rack, which I bought from World. Upon getting the car back to Indianapolis, the rack was found to be defective. I had to buy another rack in Indy and pay for labor once again. I am in Cleveland again this week and I brought the defective rack for return. I forgot my receipt on my desk in Indy, but I offered to bring in my credit card statement showing the purchase. I explained the situation to Dave and he kept rudely saying no receipt, no return. I asked to speak to a manager and Dave said he was it. I asked for his last name to report his poor customer service to his superiors and he refused. After all the trouble I have been through, which was caused by their defective part, I would expect more consideration to try to work with me to get my money back (other than driving back to Indy to get the receipt). You should avoid this business, if at all possible. I have had much better customer service at Auto Zone, Pep Boys, or any other auto parts store. Even if they can get you the part for a few dollars less, it is not worth having to deal with their lack of professionalism and poor customer service. read more

First time, last time. This place recommended by a friend due to their supposed good prices. The parking lot was filled (Monday morning at 10am understandable). Parked on street. Once inside only a handful of customers milling around. Must have been employees or others parking in lot. Sales room total chaos. No defined customer lines, no signs, only a half dozen employees standing behind the counter glaring at customers. Some waiting on customers, most standing around talking among themselves. Thought I was in a line but apparently not. Approached a clerk who, backed by another clerk, promptly told me in no uncertain terms that he was a cashier only and to go back and wait "over there". In line? What line? Waited in the area that the "cashier" pointed to near a clerk who seemed to be actually working. Next in line another customer walked in and walked right up to the clerk I was waiting for. When I told the customer I was next in line he responded"I'm commercial. Understandable that commercial accounts are business's bread and butter but how about a separate line for them (with signs). Shortly thereafter another clerk became available and called for next. He was actually helpful and civil and apologized for the wait (apparently observing what was going on with me). He placed the order and told me to wait (over there and wait for the "parts nazi" to call my order. After a few minutes my order arrived and he called it. During the entire transaction he either looked away or past me. I thanked him when done but he did not respond and continued to look past me. W/o a doubt the worst customer service by a group of employees ( save the clerk who finally waited on me) I have ever experienced. It was almost like battle between them and the customers. I almost asked to see a manager but if it was not obvious to him what was going on then my breath and time would have been wasted. Over an hour latter I'm still PO,d. Definitely not worth the few dollars saved. read more

This is by far the WORST business I have ever stepped foot in. Not only is it in a Horrible area but the employees are the rudest, most arrogant people. I called ahead to see if they had a product & was told by 2 different employees (in the same day) that they had one left. Since we live an hour away I called ahead to have them hold it & was assured there was in fact One left in stock & they would hold it til the end of the day. After driving an hour through never ending construction we finally made it to this disgusting place only to find out they didn't have the part. We were told "money talks" & even though we put it on hold they sold it to someone who offered the money first. Horrible Business. Horrible Customer Service. This place is trash & is definitely not the place to bring your wife & kids. If it IS absolutely necessary for you to go to this awful store I recommend having your concealed carry. read more
