Ive looked at the very few reviews on here to possibly read about a similar experience that occurred at this business that I went to almost 2 months ago now but I see only favorable ones with an exception of the very first review given. That fact sounds an alarm with me. The first review was 6 years ago and much later came all these positive similar sounding reviews. Im suspicious, theres nothing positive about this business and even the sudden burst of positive posts after one negative post is in line with their character. My car is fairly newer and foreign. German made and expensive to repair once the warranty times out. Covid hit my life hard. Took everything I worked hard to have. Before Covid, I would not look for the less expensive anything, I could afford perks that I can only have in a memory now. When my car needed its routine updates like oil change, brakes, I simply had no means of getting those things done and it would make it worse I knew if I did not get preventive service and that was validated when my car became embarrassing to drive due to the grinding of brakes. I had started a new job and my hopes were starting to return after such darkness. I was told my a co worker to take my car to this place and he will do the job for much less than the dealer who specializes in Imports. I got a quote for $900 to replace rear brakes and do my oil change. It was my only money I had in savings so I was grateful I could get all the work done within my limits. I dropped off my car. They had my car all day and into the evening, they called me one time at 8:45pm to say I could come pick it up, it would be done within 45 min. They were closed when I got there, but Ernie and one of his mechanics that did my car were waiting for me. The first thing out of Ernies mouth wasnt hello, I recall that well, his words were, boy, you got big problems! My heart dropped, no more bad news I hoped. I asked what do you mean, you fixed the problems I had right? He said it took his guy an hour and 15 minutes to remove my oil filter. I have zero knowledge of car mechanics nor the interest but I did know taking that long to twist something to remove it was not right. Ernie kept reminding me how long this guy spent removing my filter and doing my oil change, he said briefly the brakes were done but he wanted me to know the oil change was a big job. He assured me he was certified in import repairs, I suggested taking it to a dealer if he is not certain he can do the job, his reply was no no need for that, he is qualified or would not accepted over the phone to do the work. I told him how grateful I was, that I did not know who to trust anymore for service, I had been taken advantage of so often since Covid I told him it felt good trusting again. I counted out $900 dollars and he said oh wait, he only wanted $700. It was not clear why but he said his estimate was in the higher range. I gave his mechanic a $100 bill said thank you so much. I got in my car and headed home at 9:30pm. 5 minutes later I stopped at a Taco Bell drive thru and got a bite. While idle at the drive thru window the girl inside got my attention and was pointing to my cars hood. She said I think your car is on fire! As I looked where she was pointing I saw puffs of smoke coming out from the hood. I freaked out, I called the repair shop over and over but nobody picked up. I left many messages explaining frantically what I am seeing coming from my cars engine. I was so scared to drive it home. I drove slow and pulled over several times and let it cool down. When I looked under the hood I could see smoke steadily coming from the engine, smelled of oil. Next day same results, Ernie never called me back... What I did not realize at that moment was Ernie and his crooked employee knew my car was damaged by his constant struggles at removing my oil filter therefore breaking it off from the engine body itself causing a non stop oil leak. These findings were confirmed when I had to take it to an authorized import mechanic to verify negligence on a repair shop. I explained how long Ernie said it took to remove my filter and this mechanic went into his shop and returned with a large suitcase looking box. Inside he said were 3 heavy feeling attachments, each a different size for a variety of oil filters it removes, he took one and put it over my oil filter, gave a turn and off came my filter in less than 3 seconds. The mechanic at World pried it off to the point he broke the oil filter chamber and caused the leeks into my oil pan. I was able to reach Ernie one time finally when I did not disclose who was calling, he proceeded to tell me oh yeah you have an oil leak and its a big job, I can fix it for you for $800. This swindler knew he had damaged my car when I arrived grateful and showing respect and gratitude by tipping him even. He lied to me point blank never disclosed the leak and tried to charge me to repair his damage! read more
