Two visits, $660, and a lesson in why 'buy the part yourself' isn't good enough advice from a mechanic. My car is over 10 years old and I wanted brighter headlights for safety, a straightforward upgrade, not a repair. You are the expert. I am not. As an adult woman with zero mechanic experience, when you told me to go buy this bulb online myself, I trusted that guidance. I did exactly what I was told, bought two options that stated they would work with my car type to be safe, and brought them in. The result was headlights with a 35-foot range, barely usable. When I came back to fix it, I was charged another $330 ($165 in parts, about $170 for under an hour of labor) to source and install bulbs that should have worked the first time if I'd been given the right information from the start. Not charging me for the full time spent on the second round was a nice gesture, but a discount doesn't re-establish trust that should never have been broken in the first place. (I have now been educated about the risk of trying to install after market parts. Good info, but way late.) If you'd told me upfront there was uncertainty about compatibility, I would have walked away entirely rather than pay to fix your own guidance. Between the repeat visit and $60 in Uber trips to get around, the lack of upfront communication ended up costing me well over $700. Communication and trust are the foundation of this kind of relationship, and this shop didn't earn either. read more

At the risk of never being able to make another appointment again at Accurate Automotive (because they will become so busy) I must say it's always a major miracle to find a mechanic who's not only honest but with fair pricing. I have learned the hard way that Accurate is excellent at diagnosis and it is wise to listen to them. They also readily address and correct the mistakes that other mechanics have made - especially when those other mechanics are trying to get you to perform repairs that are not necessary. Brought my Honda in to them with rattling and scraping noises coming from the engine. Found out my car had been running with no oil (even though I had gotten an oil change relatively recently) for quite a while. My biggest issue with most auto shops is trying to push more repairs than they have to and I found none of that working with them. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and flushed my engine as well as serviced my gas injectors for a good price. Highly recommend!!!! read more

My first thought about Accurate Automotive was that they're located at sort of an out-of-the-way weird spot. No pedestrian traffic, looks like a sleepy residential street. And then, the pavement in their parking section sure is rough. But looking across to the service bays, it sparkled. The front desk/waiting area appeared freshly painted, clean chairs to sit on, magazines, tv on the wall, free wifi. Maybe it was prepped for a photo shoot, auto repair shops can't be like this. I needed a new clutch. Got my written repair estimate from Miguel, then headed over to another place nearby. Now there was a Man Cave! Old timey car culture all over, messy desk, grubby chair for me. The boss knew I was there, smelled my clutch burning soon as I reached the driveway. But once inside, it was a while before he paid any attention to me. When I said that I wasn't ready to drop off my truck just yet, he pushed aside some papers and asked, then why am I here? Starting to gather information, get prices, make choices I told him. I got a verbal ballpark figure on labor, and a promise he'd call me with parts prices. No written estimate. No call either. They're in a great location, seems that they draw enough business, and I wasn't important. If you find yourself at the man cave, it might suit you fine. Me, I returned to Accurate the next day. I handed over my truck and there I was, far from home, with my bicycle. Pitiful, until... One of the techs gave me a ride back home, saved me a grueling uphill bike ride into the Santa Monica mountains. Toward the end of the following day, the truck was ready. Back home again, I popped the hood to see what tools I scored. I once found a marvelous Snap-On pry bar, two feet long, lying across the engine of my mom's car after its recent service at a Mercedes dealer. I love it, great tool to have. Terrible to find tools left in your engine. This time, I got nothing. Good. I felt there was a missed opportunity to take care of some related service while Accurate had the truck, but Miguel views it a bit differently. I emailed about it, we talked over the phone, I was agitated. Miguel remained pleasant throughout, finally offering to re-do some of the same labor at no charge to gain me back what I missed. Well I was wondering if he would do that without me explicitly asking for it, but was really expecting to be told to not come back to Accurate again, ever. I still disagree with him, but Miguel handled the crisis well. I won't take unfair advantage of the offer now. It was a precautionary thing, another opportunity will come around, I may never need what I wanted anyway. Oh, the clutch is good, I'm happy. It doesn't feel like the original factory clutch, but I was optimistic that it might, after a little time to let the friction materials wear in. Nope. The beginning of the page explains something, which some may find good to know before they decide how to spend well over a thousand bucks. I've seen the circle of springs on clutches before, never knew what they were there for. Now I know. My shifts up and down through the gears used to be so silky smooth, better than an automatic can do. My new clutch isn't identical, those springs aren't exactly the same. Doesn't mean anything's wrong with it, and there was no way to compare it first before buying it. If you're picky about little stuff, satisfied with what you had before, and happy to spend (I'm not), you might want to specify a genuine factory clutch and nothing else. That would be a safe bet. Or, without knowing anything about this beforehand, you may end up saving money with a new aftermarket clutch AND liking it more than the one you had. You're gambling. The shop can't help you much with your decision, unless someone there drives the same car as you and has used both. Possible. I think that Accurate has delivered. Don't overlook them. They get 5 stars from me, and another one for giving me a ride home. read more

They evaluated 2 different cars and suggested other businesses that could give advice about things they weren't pros at ( like alignment ) They have been taking care of our other cars for many years and are honest and reasonable when it comes to price. read more

I have taken my Lexus 350 to Accurate Automotive for the last 2 years. They are reliable and punctual. They are not the cheapest mechanics, but I know that when the car leaves them, I am confident that it is serviced correctly and professionally. a few weeks ago I took my daughter Nissan to them to fix the AC. I've been going to this shop for years, but lately I've noticed a disappointing change. On my last few visits, I was told I needed services that had already been done--like a cabin air filter replacement right after I had just replaced it myself, and new tires even though I had just bought a brand-new set of four elsewhere. Prices have also gone up significantly, especially for basic services like oil changes. I don't mind paying for quality work, but I do expect honesty. Sadly, I no longer feel like I can trust this place to give me straightforward, reliable service. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've been receiving email "needs service" notifications from this shop about my brakes every so often. Email stated that they're at 10 and 12 mm, which is actually very good since they had just replaced them last year. Very confusing. I'm still a fan of Accurate Automotive. However I was surprised to find out today that when I tried to schedule an oil change with this shop that it actually costs more than my dealer charges. I was quoted $89 for a 5 quart semi synthetic oil change by Accurate, Ford Simi Valley's special was $72, and it included tire rotation and multi point system check / report. The point is don't assume that the private shop is always cheaper than your dealer. Check your dealer's service specials online and compare. read more

I have been coming to this shop for years and even recommended them to others. 2 weeks ago after experiencing an issue, I brought my car in. I was told it needed a new engine, which would be over $5000 to replace. This news just changed my whole life, making things much more stressful than they already are. Obviously. I told Gil I would come get the car and let him know if I decide I can move forward. Since I now need to figure out my vehicle situation. He then told me I owed $297 for telling me what's wrong with the car. He has never charged me before for a diagnosis so I was under the impression I wouldn't have to pay anything other than the necessary repairs. I was in no way prepared to pay over $5000 to replace my engine, let alone $300 for him just to tell me what the issue was. After communicating all of this to him, and going back and forth he then tells me he would credit me $167 but ONLY if I moved forward with the engine replacement and it would be deducted from the over $5000 bill. Wow! Unbelievable.It took me 3 days to pick up my car, trying to figure out how to pay $297 for this diagnosis. I was in no way prepared to pay that nor was I told of this until after his diagnosis. Which honestly was really deceptive. Of course I would want to know if there was a charge of any kind, which there shouldn't been for a diagnosis. Which is what I brought the car in for. After a few days before I could pick up my car, oddly enough on the 2nd day when I contacted Gil saying I'd be by the following day to pickup his response was "I've always been honest with you.. etc" when I made No accusations to the contrary. This just gave me the feeling of someone with a guilty conscience. When I picked up my car, Gil removed 30 minutes from the bill which brought it down to $247. That changes nothing. You are still doing me dirty by charging me at all for a diagnosis. I have never been charged before, and I shouldn't have been charged this time. Then telling me you'll credit me back some of the money only if I move forward with the engine replacement, I mean wow. Ive been a loyal consistent customer, I was really shocked to be treated like this. I'd think you'd treat your customers better and value them, not take advantage of an unfortunate situation and charge them over $200 for a diagnosis. Really unfortunate, disappointing and obviously worth loosing business over. Since then I have brought my car to another shop and was not charged a penny for a diagnosis. I didn't say anything about Gil's diagnosis and the other shop did the exact same thing Gil did and come to find out, Gil's diagnosis was in fact WRONG and not only was I not charged for the diagnosis but the cost to fix my car was $1000 versus over $5000. So I basically gave Gil $247 for nothing. He also used ALL of my gas that was in the car. I know how much was in there when I dropped it off and it was at 0 when I picked it up. I am so upset about this whole situation. I do not want to be contacted by Gil or his wife over this, unless it's to give me my $247 back that I never should have given you in the first place. DO NOT GO HERE. I highly recommend you go anywhere else, to prevent wasting money and being LIED to. read more

Wish I had discovered Gil a long time ago. Took my 2014 Honda Odyssey to him for Timing Belt issues. I knew it had to be replaced prior to calling him. When i called he gave me an honest everything included price. He even turned my car around same day! When i arrived to pick up the car he showed me all the parts he had replaced. I really appreciated that. Even though i felt i trusted him, i liked that extra gesture of showing me all the parts and explaining the issues. Gil's guys did full inspection of the van. I was aware that it was behind on several scheduled services. He let me know what he'd recommend tackling and in what order, whenever i was ready. No pressure. I loved that. I am so overwhelmed with joy that Mr. Gilbert Granados helped me with my problem with my truck. Before taking my truck to Accurate Automotive, I had been to three different place to get a diagnosis for my truck. Other auto places put stuff on the machine for diagnosis test on my truck and they did a horrible job, because they put parts on my truck that had already been replaced. Mr. Gil and his experience team of machines took my truck put it on the machine and diagnosed it properly! They found the problem and fixed it, Accurate Automotive is now my number place to go! Wow this business is a breath of fresh air. A friend is driving my 2009 Prius through Thousand Oaks all of a sudden the dashboard lights up with lots of symbols. She pulls over and calls me with "what do I do?" I look where she is and find this incredible business and call them Gil was very kind. He diagnosed the problem and it was the battery. I had my Front Struts replaced and they did not put back the plastic covers. I called Gilbert and his immediate response was denial, He said they don't have it. I told him it was not touched by any body else. Maybe it was lost when I had it diagnosed in another shop saying "how can you say it wasn't touched by anybody else when it was diagnosed by another shop. I told him it was not the Strut that was diagnosed but the CV Axle. I was trying to explain but he kept on cutting me off. We ended up by him asking me to bring my vehicle back so he can look at it. I told him I'll be wasting my time if the covers are not there but I finally decided to just order online since the covers are inexpensive. I definitely wouldn't go back to a shop where the denial seem to be immediate. read more

About a year (or longer) who, I took my car in for a recall at the Mazda dealership. I had a mechanic there tell me (& show me with their "live video") that I needed my brake pads (all 4) replaced immediately because they were less than 2 mm, as well as all new rotors. After having my dad take a look at them, he said there's no way that was true because my brake pads were at least 4-5 mm at that time. Here we are a year later- I brought my Mazda to Gil & his staff at Accurate Automotive. He told me I got my money's worth out of my rear brake pads because they had just hit the 2 mm mark, my fronts were still good & my rotors were in good quality, too. He replaced my rear brake pads. I also needed an oil change, so he took care of that same day. Tested my battery & let me know one of my cells were nearly dead. No pressure & helpful transaction.
