What a great store. They have a little bit of everything and some thing for everyone. The employees are always very nice and helpful. Also before Easter and Thanksgiving, they have a little hide and seek challenge or if you find the item you could win $20, $50 or $100 to spend in the store. That is always an added plus as I enjoy getting Easter basket and Christmas stocking stuff here. They have a great selection of decor and kitchen items as well. Walking in , the store is bigger than I thought it would be. Open , spacious warehouse feel. Brentwood's World Market was my preferred local World Market until a couple of days ago when a cashier implied I, after changing 3 settings and restarting my phone in front of her but failing to get World Market's site to generate a visible barcode instead of a white box, got so frustrated with me she could barely speak except to imply I wanted to use the reward multiple times... that is: steal from the company. A minute after she first considered getting her manager, she refused to do so when I requested it because the issue with using my $5 reward was MY phone's issue and there was nothing he would be able to do. Well, duh. But she said it like that. Do not talk to people like that. I asked again for the manager because while my phone has a problem, there is an issue on World Market's end too because World Market is doing stuff oddly on their app. I wanted more advice from someone who was perhaps more tech savvy. Then the manager came over and not only said he couldn't help, but told I needed to fix my phone because he'd override it, but he couldn't be doing it again and again because I could use it repeatedly. He said this unsmilingly and not vaguely. I said I was just trying to get help and I mentioned something about what the cashier implied, which was similar enough to what the manager had just said, and he didn't say much. Neither cashier nor manager thanked me for anything or told me to have a nice day or any of that. I think they were perhaps in a bad mood because an employee (the cashier??) broke like half a shelf of of sake or wine in the back of the store a few minutes before. I at NO point asked for a manual override or to get anything free. I thought maybe they could apply my reward directly from my account or the manager could tell me how to get guidance on the issue. Later I found out the issue was a Google setting across all my devices and it had to be fixed in my Google account. This would not be an issue if WM offered the coupon like any other company would: as a unique image with barcode that could be redeemed just once. The coupon barcode isn't an image file. Oh well. But my friend found a golden unicorn yesterday and then I hunted down a $100 unicorn at another store, so it wasn't too bad of a day at the markets of the world. Learn some customer service, folks, before you hurt your employer more than you did with the spilled alcohol. read more

I went to the Brentwood store on Wednesday, November 5. I arrived there a few minutes before 4 so I could participate in the nutcracker hunt. As I was approaching the back of the store to check on some food items, I noticed that there was a tall man in front of me, presumably an employee of the store. He was hiding something. I immediately thought that it could be one of the nutcrackers. I went to the shelves and pulled it out. The nightmare started then. He saw me, he accused me of stalking him and grabbed the card from me in front of other customers. I am a 76 year old woman, a grandmother who does not stalk anyone! Obviously, I was so shocked and humiliated that I could not even react to this rude behavior. I just left. The next day I called the store and found out that his name is Steven. I also called Corporate Office to voice my concern about this behavior. After 24 hours nobody has called me back. My family and I have been customers of this store for several years and I have never had a complaint about anything. This time I am appalled, hurt and offended by accusations that were totally unfounded. read more

I purchased a jar of preserved lemons. On opening the jar, I discovered that the product was clearly defective...the lemons seemed to be rotten. I tried to get a refund, but the store manager refused. She stated that the customer assumes the risk that the purchased food may be poor quality. I CERTAINLY WONT BUY GOOD THERE AGAIN. read more

I placed an order for pick up and not much later I get a call from World Market, Emma was calling to let me know the item I ordered was the last in store and was the display model. She wanted to make sure I was ok with that, she offered to move it to the back and let me inspect it before taking it home. She helped me carry and load stuff into my car. I had a great experience at World Market - Brentwood. I always love shopping here because of the eclectic offerings and I'm always delighted by the home furnishings and decor! I was looking for a light I saw online - the store was extremely busy and I couldn't find anyone to help me for a while. Finally I found Glen, a wonderful sales associate who went above and beyond offering me so much help. He got me the light from the back I needed and he even opened it and checked to ensure it was not damaged. I was carrying my baby and he also offered to push my cart to the front. While Glen was helping me I spotted a bookshelf on sale I loved. Glen also helped me purchase the bookshelf and arranged for me to pick up later that day. I was almost going to leave the store without purchasing anything - but with Glen's help I was able to purchase the light I came to buy and an additional $500 bookshelf. This cost plus location is located next to Trader Joe's in a shopping complex. It's never too busy, and all the items I need are conveniently clustered together in the back of the store. I typically come here to stock up on Torani sugar-free syrups to add to my homemade coffee. I always end up leaving with more items I intended to buy. They have a variety of ethnic specialty items located in the back of the store. The staff is friendly and helpful. I've been a World Market customer for many years purchasing both online and in store. While the Brentwood Promenade has the most atrocious parking lot (during busy hours traffic is a nightmare getting in and out of the lot), the World Market here is wonderful. I've always had great experiences with the staff here. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and if they don't have an answer to your question they will make sure they can find or call someone who will have an answer. The store itself has a variety of lovely global furniture, decorations, food, frames, cards, gifts, alcoholic beverages, kitchen tools, and so much more! A lot of my home is furnished with World Market furniture. They have good sales on it every once in awhile, and their customer service is fantastic. Very interesting array of items. Apparently 50% off on dining furniture right now .... After reading other reviews I know to pass on this. They had some really cute fall items like pumpkin containers of various sizes and pumpkin soup mix. They also have very serious mortar and pestles for those who need a very sturdy one.... I was quite impressed with their selection if kites (especially since it is September). They have an interesting array of unique toys like a juggling diablo and basket case a "head hoop game". They also have an interesting selection of global foods :). I will definitely come back here for Christmas stocking stuffers. read more

I was getting frustrated shopping for patio furniture. The stuff at the big box hardware stores is lame. The nicer stuff at Crate & Barrel or Pottery Barn costs $3K+. I can't afford that. I'm not sure how I remembered World Market sold patio furniture but I'm glad I did. They had a bunch of different sets at about a quarter of the price as the upscale outlets. I was between a couple of different options and an associate named Paul came by and helped me out. He saw that I was incapable of putting all the different patterns and prints together. I'm so glad he found me. He helped me pick out the correct set of furniture, paired it with a bunch of pillows, an umbrella and a matching cooler/side table. He even spoke with my wife over the phone via FaceTime to make sure she was happy with what we ended up with. Paul at World Market is my hero! read more

World Market is seriously one of my favorite stores! I love how I can purchase everything from soap, cards, food, baskets, glasses, dishes, furniture, pictures, and even wine in one store! They have such a huge selection of everything. I will admit that I get a little cramped in this store since they always have so much out on display, but I can get over that. I enjoy smelling the soaps and lotions. I also enjoy how they always have a pot of tea ready for customers to sample. I can't resist a sample. My favorite section in World Market is the food/snack section. I enjoy trying different types of food and they have a perfect section with small sizes of cheeses, honey, sauces, crackers, etc. I can put a little gift basket together in a matter of minutes. The store is organized as much as it can be. They have a ton of stuff. Unless you know exactly what you are looking for it might take a while to browse throughout the whole store. This location has items that you need along with impulse goodies sourced from all over the world. I liken it to a suburban bazaar or souk (indoors, minus the haggling). The selection of wines is not as comprehensive as at other places, but occasionally there are good deals to be had. Certain grocery items not usually found at the supermarket--ginger chews, salted caramel Godiva chocolate bars--are also a draw. At times the store seems a bit chaotic, with boxes in the aisles and items strewn around. On other occasions, the goods are organized and well merchandised, especially kitchen items and housewares, leading a person to want one of everything! In that regard, World Market could benefit from a more consistent stocking approach. The beers from different countries always seem to be flying off the shelves whenever I've been here. I just got one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. I purchased a desk from World Market last week, but realized it just wasn't right for my space. Today, I found a replacement on World Market's website and called ahead to see if it was available. The manager reserved it for me and I planned to come by before the end of the day to pick it up. They closed earlier than I expected today (I hadn't checked store hours like I should have). As I was on my way over, I received a personal call from the manager to check on me and see if I was still coming. Fortunately, I was almost there but with only five minutes to spare. The amazing ladies at World Market had me in and out of their store before they closed, helping me both carry a very heavy desk out of my car and loading an even heavier desk back into my car. I even got to use my coupon. I have always been a fan of World Market for their beautiful furniture and fun mix of products. An Ode to World Marke! You're an exotic breed. Your bright colors and eclectic merchandise leave me lost aimlessly in your store. I didn't know I needed or wanted half of the random stuff you have until I saw how cute it was. Not only do you vibrant and unique home furnishings but you have decadent chocolates, wines, beers, and other random nosh. Your store feels like a home and I don't loathe walking in...unlike many others. You're rarely crowded and have fantastic customer service. My only gripe is I wish you had lower prices. I love World Market. I just can't help it. How can I not be a fan of someplace I can buy new, cute porch furniture (on sale, woot!), my favorite Republic of Tea flavor (Good Hope Vanilla, in case you're asking) and a vast array of goodies to put in Christmas stockings (or Easter baskets or gift bags or blah blah blah)? I visit World Market primarily when I need a fun hostess gift or need stuff to fill the aforementioned stockings and baskets. The food section is probably my favorite part of the store. Chocolate "sardines"? Don't mind if I do. Olde timey candy? Sure! The tiniest Wisconsin summer sausage I've ever seen? You betcha! (And that one, just so we're clear, was supposed to be a joke, but was actually the first thing eaten out of this year's Christmas stocking.) There was also a pretty nice selection of unique Christmas ornaments this year and pretty much anything you'd need for gift giving: wrapping paper, baskets, bags.. World Market has booze, coffee & tea, Torani syrups, a variety of global convenience foods (think jars of korma sauce, cans of custard, biscuits and tea cookies, pasta) and candy out the wazoo. They sell pretty decent furniture, made especially appealing with their regular sales, and some pretty cute home accessories like pillows and throws. It's one of those shops that sucks me in until I've looked at everything in the store. Which is probably why I wind up buying a bunch of stuff I don't need or hadn't thought of before I went in. But chocolate "sardines"! Super cute and inexpensive bangle bracelets? How could I not?! Also--and this is important to me--I've had really good experiences with the folks working at World Market. While it always seems like only one check-out line is open and there's a short wait, the people working the register have always been pleasant and friendly. While it's true I'd rather do my global shopping at Global Foods in Kirkwood, I think World Market is pretty much the perfect one-stop-shop for easy gift basket/stocking/etc. shopping. And if it turns out you hate it, well, at least you can buy a beer on your way out to console yourself. read more

I've been in World Market a handful of times. It's not a 'must have' store for me; I wouldn't cry if it disappeared tomorrow. But I like visiting it from time to time. They have a pretty nice array of interesting foods from around the world. Not a huge selection like, say, Global Foods, but it's not bad. The store always seems like it's sort of in a state of disarray, and I wouldn't buy furniture or a complete set of dishes here or anything. My favorite soup bowl, however, does originate from World Market. And I think that deserves at least 2 stars, don't you? I love my blue soup bowl! Keep in mind this place is in the Brentwood Plaza of Hell ®, so be prepared to dodge crazy soccer moms in the parking lot. read more

This one is as good - it IS a chain for gosh sakes, and the workers are friendly and available, the merchandise is stylish with a boho edge. I have this problem where I cannot go to World Market without finding at least five items that I had no intention of buying - but as soon as I see them, I realized I NEED IT!! omg. Today, I went to buy an oversize clear vase. I also ended up buying some wine, a coffee mug, a little shark picture holder, and a reusable cup for my Keurig. Who knew I was missing all these things in my life?? Everyone at WM is friendly and helpful in finding all the little things they have there! I also have bought a lot of great candles from here. All their diverse little snacks and foods are very interesting as well. So much candy! Also as a personal bonus, my younger sister's favorite animal is the elephant. Whenever I am really at a loss of what to buy her, I know I can always turn to WM for an elephant-something!
