I always enjoy browsing in World Market at their collection of home furniture , home decor, rugs, curtains, and unique gifts. They also have a large section for international food, wine, and craft beer. They have so much to chose from it can be overwhelming. I was shopping for some coffee products and they had a good selection. When I went to check out one item was marked 50% , I asked the cashier if it came up as 50%, and he seemed annoyed I asked. It had not and he proceeded to tell me sometimes the items are not placed in alignment with the price tag. I told him I was sure it was correct. He called over another clerk and she confirmed it was supposed to be 50%. He never apologized or acknolwedged the error. While I will be back to shop for items, customer service needs to improve. read more

They have an awesome collection of things from around the world. From textiles, to furniture, body care, to food... Some of the stuff is overpriced- but is expected especially if it's being imported. I was shopping with my 4 year recently and right by the tea section on a lower shelf (at small child level) he found a box cutter with the tip of the blade out. He grabbed it and showed me right away (cuz he said it looks just like daddy's). Thankfully he wasn't touching the blade part but of course this shouldn't have been left out. There was a worker the next aisle over and I brought it to her and told her my son found it. She took it from me and didn't say anything, no apologies, not a "is he okay", not a thank you or acknowledgment that it should've have been out. I found this appalling. I could've made a big deal out of it but didn't. For someone in customer service I definitely expected a better response. Overall the place is fairly clean and organized. And I do love how they have a little of everything. If you ever need to find a gift, you're sure to with their collection of things. read more

The website showed an item to purchase in store that I later found out has not been solid in the store "for a long time." That is not the store associates' fault, but something to be corrected by corporate IT. The woman at the register was quick to get me help from an associate. Unfortunately, the associate was very curt and gave the impression that she was being put out to help me look for an item. She eventually called another woman over, who I assume was either more knowledgeable or a supervisor, I was spoken to in a dismissive manner. Had the store been packed with customers or short-staffed, I could understand something less than excellent service. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The store was clean and organized, but the staff could definitely use improvement with their customer relations skills. Mike and the entire staff are just outstanding. The customer service is similar to whole foods. They went above and beyond. I love shopping at World Market. This store has everything. I have bought everything from beautiful shawls made in India to uniquely painted cookware to various brands of wine you cannot find at most other stores. I usually buy things here when I find them in the sale flyer because World Market can be a bit on the pricey side. Nonetheless, I love to shop here for fun little things that you cannot find at your typical chain store. This year I bought all my friends' Christmas presents from World Market. Last year, I found the German pickle ornament here :). Another cool thing is their Explorer Rewards program. You get extra discounts on various items and often an extra 10% off on wine when you stock up with 4+ bottles. I know they also run promos where they send you rewards based on what you buy in a certain time period and an extra coupon for your birthday. read more

Went to exchange merchandise that was defective (rusted flatware) that was received as a gift. The store manager was argumentative, yelling at me and accused me of threatening her. She suggested I could have bought at a resale shop or that I left the flatware in water too long. She also suggested I go to another store after I told her she should honor the defective merchandise for an exchange. I've been shopping at this store since it opened and had previously loved shopping here. Horrible hostile manager representing World Market. Not Good. read more

I miss the store in mt prospect but this is the world market I found first. I think since it now going thru business changes it shows but I still recommend for one of a kind items. It better than other similar shops that carry world imports. But what I miss is the free coffee and tea while you shop. I have a whole collection of craft beer glasses that they no longer carry. And while that is cool in terms of value I'd rather see they bring back. The selection of items is constantly being introduced new so you never feel like you ever walk into the same store if you keep your visits special and visit not often but with purpose. Seasonal is my thing. I hope you fall in love with this store as much as I have. I think they need to bring back some stuff but overall I'd say what a find! read more

Haribo was here. But not anymore. ... because I eated them allz! Just kidding, I only eat the clear ones. They're beer flavored, right? So many reasons to come to World Market... only one of which are the gummi bears. While World Market is no Binny's, they actually have a really great beer and wine selection. Nothing cold, so you have to plan ahead if you're doing some party shopping, but we've got some great deals on some of our favorite bottles here (Hello, Brother Thelonius!). I'm also a pretty big fan of their furniture which I find to be priced from slightly above what I would consider paying for furniture to semi-reasonable. Perusing their housewares is always a joy, though you have to be weary of where a lot of the stuff comes from... personally, I'm not a huge fan of eating off something that might have lead in it, but to each his own. Not being a lover of shopping, I'm probably not the best one to review stores. However, when I do shop, I like going to World Market due to the variety. From linens and kitchen gadgets to furniture and decorations to unusual foodstuffs and wines, they have everything. The store I mostly go to is the one in Deer Park although I have been to others. They are all laid out well for the casual shopper. Typically, we walk out with something interesting from the food section - they have a great variety of soda syrups. We've had some trouble when buying more expensive items from World Market in the past. Last year, for example, we bought an outdoor umbrella for setting up by our pool. It was very poorly made and the struts that hold up the umbrella did not hold up more than a couple of day. On a positive note, they were very understanding a took the item back without question. read more

Not pet friendly despite other World Markets being pet friendly. Just seemed to be an employee on the world's saddest power trip.

This would be a negative star review, but given that they are open during the quarantine and keeping people employed, one star is automatic. Last Sunday I purchased two end tables for pickup, where you pull up and they bring them out to the car. I figured 2 hours would be more than enough time while my wife went grocery shopping and she would go pick them up. after her grocery shopping she called the store and was told they were not ready. Keep in mind when we made the purchase online it said four of them were available in store and I only bought two. We didn't think anything of it and she came home, the following day she went back to go pick them up, called on her way, and again was told they were not ready. We thought this was a little odd given that 36 hours is probably plenty of time for a store that isn't busy to get two tables off display and bring them outside. Tuesday we tried again and again were told they were not ready. it's important to note my credit card was charged on Sunday, $172. By Wednesday I was irritated so I sent a letter to customer service asking them to cancel the order and refund the credit card. Even though I forwarded the confirmation order, with confirmation number, I got an email back from customer service saying they couldn't find the order that they charged my credit card for 3 days earlier. This alone is problematic as they are responding to their own confirmation email. We sent additional information including name and address, and they then acknowledge that they found it. I received a copy of an email from customer service to store saying "customer changed his mind"... The other part that was more than annoying was the customer service representative via email tried arguing that four days is not enough time for them to get an order off the shelf to bring it outside and they were within their time to do so. We are now 4 days since cancelation....and my credit card has not been refunded $172, that was charged last Sunday for items that were never ready for pick up or received. Guess I have to call the credit card company and dispute the charge. Glad this store is open, but it won't be for long with service like this...it was easier and less aggravation to just order the same items off of wayfair. read more

This is one of those stores where the selection is so interesting that it is enjoyable to just walk around the store, even if you have no purchase in mind. Of course, i almost always end up finding a little something that id like to buy. They've put together great wine gift baskets for me to give as gifts. I always find unique wines for good prices. Not being a wine drinker myself, i shop for wine based on the packaging and/or name. From what ive been told, the wine is good...not blow your mind awesome...but i didnt think it would be based on the price. I love all the kitchen items here and the endless unique hone decorations. One tip of advice, i dont know that this is a very child friendly store. Just there seem to be so many breakable items here. Ive also purchased some really cute gift wrapping supplies here (ex. I came here looking for the double-handled soup crocks. They were in the ad on sale 2 for $7. Unfortunately, this location had sold out of them. The store associate didn't bother to provide me any more customer service such as asking me if I wanted him to check another store for them since they aren't sold online. That was somewhat disappointing. My boyfriend and I ended up browsing around a little before leaving empty-handed. The location is nice (though there was a lot of traffic around the area since it's across the street from the Deer Park shopping center) and the selection of merchandise is indeed unique. However, it's not all my style. Oh, they also have $20 1 liter boots for your Oktoberfest beer! Overall, OK, but I really wish they had what I needed. read more

Amazing service here. They were extremely helpful to my wife and I as we were moving. We went in on a Friday night to look at some rugs. Dayna helped us immediately and told us ways where we could save a ton of money. She mentioned a rug sale would be happening the next day and that we could also save money by becoming members. Seeing as how we went with the intent to purchase, this was extremely helpful. Then, we also decided to look at a dining room table and chairs. That's when we met Eduardo, who blew us away with his attentiveness and hospitality. I went in the next morning to buy the set and he was there again to help! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this location and Mike, the store manager. We went to several World Markets to find various items for our new home. We ran into several employees, including the St Charles manager, who was less than willing to help us. We tried one more location, the Kildeer store, and met Mike who went above and beyond to help us. He definitely puts the customer first! I want to recognize this exemplary employee to the CPWM brand and wish he was at a location closer to us! The World Market is a store that has a ton of merchandise, which is organized rather well. The items are somewhat unique and the grocery items are neat to browse. It seems to have had a better variety of goods before it was aquired by Bed, Bath & Beyond, but still has some interesting stuff. read more

I really like coming to this store for their selection of wine and imported snacks that are hard to find elsewhere! You can always stop in and find something unique here. The prices on their candy/chocolate is a bit high in comparison to other places, but I'm willing to pay it. I do wish they carried more Cadbury, as they only have a few items. read more

For furniture that requires assembly, Cost Plus is great. The furniture is very high quality and easy to assemble compared to the pieces that I have bought at other stores. From time to time, they offer coupons for their furniture which make it a steal! A couple of pieces in the box were damaged, but the store was phenomenal about switching them out for better pieces. I normally love being a customer of this store but recently had a horrible experience with one of the workers and the store manager... a few weeks ago I purchased a dress there and wore it once when the seams shredded on both sides. So I exchanged it for the same dress thinking it was maybe a flaw. But the same thing happened... By this time I didn't have my receipt but it was clearly from world market since the tag said world market... The cashier was very frantic since they were short on cashiers and didn't want to deal with me, all I was trying to do was exchange it for a store credit. And she kept trying to look it up by my address and she kept keying it in wrong and the item was not found anyway they wouldn't allow me an exchange and they were very rude to me. I am very disappointed that this company would carry such poor quality product that was probably made in a sweatshop... now I'm out $25 for a piece of shredded fabric.... read more
