We've been many times and I love the variety of stuff. Whether it's furniture, foods, or wines, there's always a good find. I especially love going during the holiday season. Looking for the golden nutcracker is an amazing event. What is disappointing is the lack of French cookies and chocolates especially for the Christmas season. One of the best well known traditions in France for Christmas and New Year's are Papillotes. They are French chocolate confections, traditionally filled with nuts, fruit paste, or nougat, and individually wrapped in foil or paper. They are a popular Christmas treat in France, with each package typically containing an assortment of different flavors and a small message inside, like a fortune cookie. One popular brand is Révillon, yet absent from the shelves at World Market. I appreciate the Bonne Maman jams Advent Calendar but that's it. There's a tremendous opportunity here for World Market to have more French chocolate and candy offerings. The Provence is famous for their nougats and they would be an excellent addition to the assortment. Looking for a cool gift idea, pop-up Christmas card, English shortbreads or KitKats from Asia, World Market has it but they don't have any Papillotes from France. read more

Nice array of home-goods, and not your run-of-the-mill items that you see in other stores. That said: We looked through their selection of large rugs that hang from oversized clip-on hangers; almost from the ceiling to the floor. Very similar to how Home Goods display their rugs. We find one rug (6x9 ft) that we like a lot. I look on the World Market website just to see if there might be an online or in-store promo. (The rug BTW is over $200). I do notice that if you pick-up this rug in-store, there is a 10% discount. But that online box to click for the discount brought me to a message that the rug (we are looking at) is out of stock. I'm accustomed to when most stores are out of stock; they are still willing to satisfy the customer and increase their sales for the day, without an issue. I double checked with a nice employee if they were indeed out of back-stock, and if so, would I be able to purchase the rug hanging up in the store. Not a quote; but the bottom-line was, yes they are out of stock until mid-September and NO, I can not purchase the display because it is a lot of trouble taking the rug down and hanging up a new one in September. Again, the employee was nice, and she checked with her supervisor who laid down what I assume is company policy. I used to be a retail manager; and management always has the discretion to do what is best for the customer and for the company combined. That other store that I mentioned above, BTW, has no problem taking their large rugs off the same type of hangers. The decision that I would have made as a manager is: 1. Why leave the display up for an item that is not available till mid-September, where by doing that it can lead to customer frustration? 2. Why not take the effort and increase sales, and have two employees take the rug down for the customer? It's not a matter of employee safety, as the employees are who initially put up the rugs on the hangers. To me, the decision to not make the sale and satisfy the customer: Is purely a bad business decision; no matter what the District Manager or higher-ups might think. This criticism may belong at World Market corporate site. I did try to contact them. 90 minutes combined on phone and on-line chat room waiting along with email to which they promised reply in 24 hours now 48 hours later all un-responded to. So here I simply try to provide heads up for local shoppers who may think ordering non perishable food items from World Market is good idea in these covid19 times when getting into the stores is difficult or impossible. Based on my experience it is a bad idea. A very bad idea. In my experience they are selling badly damaged second packaging at first quality packaging prices. And so badly damaged that food safety could be a concern for some. Let me set the stage with this. Then I'll provide specifics for the "TILT" experience. One of the few reasons I make pilgrimage into World Market maybe 3 times annually is to purchase specific brands of food items that are not carried in most standard American grocers and hard to find consistently stocked at specialty stores even in non-pandemic times. And, of course, even more difficult for those stores to obtain during covid19 challenges. (Plus, they for sure do not show up on the 'order in advance lists' to pick up in parking lot shopping services. Services I have been grateful to use for some things in the covid19 'stay home' period. But they necessarily have limitations for product.) For me those things that World Market has on shelf in normal times include a specific brand of Italian tomatoes and other things like a specific brand of preserved lemons and Moroccan styled harissa. Being near the last at home supply of my December 2019 purchases of those items as June approached, I searched on line to find most retailers were out of stock with no known restock time. But lo and behold, the products were available at World Market but only ordered for shipping to home for delivery. The price was as first quality ($5 - $6 each can or jar) as sold by other retailers when items were available. For the tomato products, World Market required I purchase in minimum lots of 6 to 12 depending on the variety. That means I'd end up with 18 cans total but I reasoned with myself that was no problem because the purchases would mean it would be winter again before I needed more. Alas, what I was shipped were 'seconds' items - badly dented cans of tomatoes, jars of preserved lemons and harissa with labels with ink smeared or pasted on sideways and with the top of one of the jars so badly dented that harissa leaked. These kinds of badly damaged cans and jars or with with defective labeling are the kinds of things that are typically sold at big discounts at clearance warehouses or "Dollar Stores" in the neighborhood of a buck for a piece or five bucks for an entire case or sold to shelter kitchens for "a dime on the dollar". That is because consumers typically won't buy the products with this kind of packaging damage and so standard retailers won't put them on shelves. Absent puncturing of cans or unsealing of jars (as was the case in one of them) which makes it necessary for the manufacturer to dump them for food safety, they try to find deep discount sales channels. But I was charged full prices and paid them assuming first quality items even arguing (with myself) that the 18 cans of tomatoes I was required to purchase to meet World Market minimums would hold me for the better part of a year. (And who knows when American retailers will be able to get these Italian originated goods again.) Sadly, only 3 of the 18 cans was without significant damage and some to the point I would not have bought them at all in a retail store at any price. And all four of the bottles were defective labeling - which would bother me not for "% off" but the dented lid seal on the leaking one is exactly why one needs to be cautious of badly dented packages of all kinds...food safety. World Market obviously used a 3rd party to fulfill this order. The 3 weeks from order to fulfillment aside - these are difficult times for everyone and I understand that - the real issue is the badly damaged items being sold as first quality. They would not have these on shelves in their stores because of the damage. World Market needs to know this is happening and pull back their 3rd party distributor. I would notify them it is happening if I could get any kind of customer service response. (Covid19 times or no, there is no excuse for that.) In the meantime, I provide heads up for other shoppers to consider. read more

Cost Plus has a GREAT member program. About once a month they have a free item for their members. A lollipop at Halloween, a free shopping tote, a pizza cutter on Pi(e) Day, etc. And, every now and then they'll email a coupon for $10 off $15 - that's hot. And then you pair that with sale and clearance items to make the deal go ever further. I love the way the store is laid out, there's always something new and interesting. But some items aren't there all the time, so if you find something you like, grab a couple of them - or more - because it may not be there the next time you come. This store has the BEST customer service. During covid they would literally bring items to the door so I could see if I wanted to purchase online. Now I just do their pick up which is free. What is not to like about this place? This is always my go-to for the unique gift or household item I can't find anywhere else. When I am looking around town for a item, I don't know why this isn't my first stop because this is usually my last stop and it always has it. Prime example: I searched four places on Saturday for a sushi mat, yup, found one here in a mini kit for $3.99. I love this place too much! My dining room table and high top chairs are from here. I think some items are high priced but join their club and get coupons! I bought each of my chairs and table with a 30% off coupon. I love their coffee and foreign food and wine in the back. I love their lamps and rugs and couches and curtains and chairs and dishes and silverware and coffee mugs and stickers and and shelves and pictures and patio furniture and... and... and now I just need to win the lotto so my whole house can be World Market-ized! The only reason I put 4 stars over 5 is because often their sale prices don't ring up and you have to be that person that questions while holding up the line. Doesn't happen every time I am shopping there but it happened to all of my chairs. It got to the point that I just paid the extra 10% that wasn't ringing up to just not be the woman holding up the line. No matter, I love this place! Everyone is always helpful and fun. read more

Went to CPWM yesterday, first in the morning, bought a bunch of things including a piece of furniture had a great experience with a very helpful staff member. Went back in the afternoon to buy a lot more furniture, expecting the same experience, was prepared to spend a lot of money but instead walked out of the store with nothing as I encountered two of the MOST lazy and rude staff members. It was nothing but attitude saying people who want to buy furniture should shop online...WHY have a store if they DON'T want customers? Needless to say I did find another store and spent my money elsewhere. I do love CPWM but the difference between heaven and hell really are the people. Perhaps they need to train their staff to know that employees have a job to do for the company trying to sell products and it's not all about THEM! Get off your lazy butts and do the job you're being paid to do! read more

Store selection is very diverse and eye-grabbing. Got some good products. When going to check out, we waited in line for 7 to 8 minutes for someone to help us. There was only one cashier and 15 people in line. Management came by to help price a customers product but didn't think to help check the long line of people out. One customer even walked out of the store. Coordination with other cashiers will help improve incidences like these. read more

We have always loved shopping at this chain, particularly when it was in Boise. Last weekend we went to the Meridian store and found some dining room chairs and matching counter stools we wanted. We had a difficult time finding someone on the floor to help us, but we finally found a young, exasperated woman who was willing to go and see if they had all the ones we wanted. After waiting over 20 minutes, she returned further exasperated and said they did have them but they were way up in the warehouse and it would be several hours before they could get them down. They asked that we not pay until pick up so we left our contact info and asked that they call us when they were ready to be picked up. We never heard from them so we called today and reminded them what we were hoping to pick up. We drove to the store (one week later) and after having to search for someone to help us (everyone seemed annoyed by our questions, we finally found someone who said that someone in the back was getting our chairs down. We went to see the boxes and they were all the wrong color. Of course, they don't have enough of the color we want. Here is the real problem, not one person apologized to us and when we asked if any other store had them, the lady helping us acted like we had just asked her a huge favor so we left. Later we checked online and found that the chairs were available but the counter stools were not. We try to shop locally as much as possible, for one it is nice to touch and feel what you are going to buy and we also want to support our local economy but this experience has sent us running to shop online. Our experience was time consuming and frustrating so it will be a while before return. read more

I generally like this store but I wanted to return a dress that was given to me as a gift. Tag still on it, but no receipt. The manager shrugged and said there was nothing she could do, not even store credit with a very unhelpful smirk. The new location seems to have more space, it's well organized, and they seem to have a larger in-store furniture selection now. Also, I have had good customer service all 3 visits. They are extremely under stocked all the time. Do not ship from store to store. The chain of management works out of a No mindset. No I can't do this no I can't do that. Which is not very helpful when you need help I bought one runner to see if it matched the house and if my husband liked it. He ended up being away for a month. He travels for work so it's not that uncommon. The rug was a new item so I thought no big deal I could go online and buy the rest I need. Husband like it so a month later I'm ready. Nope rug gone. Go in store not item discontinued track it down to 4 in Colorado Springs. Call the store, they say we might be able to do a store to store transfer. So I go back to Meridian to see if it is actually possible. Manager said she needs to talk to her immediate higher up. This is now a total of two hours. (No biggie I'm in it to win it.) Give manager all my information about how to get in touch with me. Give her the skew aaand crickets. No call from Colorado Springs no call from Meridian. **I have tried to buy drapes, I have tried to buy lamps which they might have had one and nothing in stock. This place takes a lot of patience and is time consuming the end result being a let down. Choose your battles when you come here. If you need anything from management don't bother it's all lip service. Get in get out buy when on sale it's all priced to be discounted anyway. I cannot stand having to write a bad review! I just want them to be such a great store!!! But they are stuck in the mediocre. read more
