Fantastic selection of kitchen gear and food. This location is pretty hidden but they have a covered parking lot which is safe and secure. The variety of food inside is exceptional. I actually like this store for selection value quantity and quality so I decided to apply for a job there I know that I'm overqualified but I feel like I could bring some brightness and some great customer service so I waa scheduled for interview but when I walked in the door I was already pre-judged everyone was looking strange like they had never saw a black woman walking the store before they started to huddle speak in Spanish looking scared the manager wouldn't do an interview with me without someone else being present like I was carrying a weapon it was funny but it wasn't the most uncomfortable feeling of being in the interview and I knew when they were interviewing me I probably wouldn't get this job and if I did I wouldn't take it due to the fact that they had already pre-judged notions small talks and speak in Spanish directly in my face not knowing that I understood everything they said I felt like it was very rude and this is why parts of Oakland become segregated I hope whoever they hire can bring some great customer service brightness and friendliness to the customers employees and surrounding areas...The Make their company look back... read more

I found their selection of products wide yet specialized. There greens were very fresh and when cooked was just the side dish that made the meal. Fruit and frozen products very fresh. Parking inside. Extra large space with handicap up front. Try them and I'm sure there is something you will be talking about to family and friends. read more

PROS: it is the only grocery in the immediate area, staff is friendly, some pricing is good, lots of variety CONS: 1 in 5 items we picked up were EXPIRED. The pricing on a lot of the items were equal to where you could purchase anywhere else. Parking is convenient. One of the purchases was frozen potstickers---they were freezer burned. The place to go for full pork belly for my homemade bacon.They have plenty of other primal cuts there priced well...typically all I go here for.They do have some restaurant type supplies like Cambro's. Pretty much all around shopping...there's a walk in produce cooler,huge frozen section,large sacks of rice and flour,spices and alot more...I'm usually in and out fairly quickly....never a real big line in the morning. I have my Conspiracy Theories on why Jack London Square has no Super Markets or corner stores. Maybe it's a plan by the Gasoline Companies to force me to drive and burn gas every time I need something at the store. Or it could be a ploy by "THE MAN" to keep me down by having me more focused on where I'm going to find Half-n-Half for my coffee when it runs out, than me having time to solve bigger problems like curing Ebola or solving World Peace. Or it could just be to keep Jack London Square safe from the undesirables that usually loiter around these businesses in Oakland. Which brings me to Cash & Carry. A one stop shop for many restaurants and businesses. And it has become MY grocery store within walking distance to my place. The Good: The prices are reasonable and some items are actually dirt cheap compared to Safeway. The best part is the open early at 6am when I usually am making my morning cup of coffee. The employees are helpful and friendly. The lines are usually short. They have everything I need, from fresh produce, to dairy, frozen foods, fresh USDA Choice meats, bread, etc. Not to mention small items I usually run out of, things that I need to make quick runs for like Half-n-Half or Grits. The Bad: This isn't even their fault because technically Cash & Carry wasn't invented for me per-say. It's for restaurants that buy in bulk. But for the sake of a negative thing to say. I bought frozen burger patties the other day, and while I would've liked to buy maybe 10 patties, they only carry a box of about 50! Or a sack of onions weighing 10lbs! So it's not their fault but I have about 46 patties sitting in my freezer currently. Conclusion: As Madea would say: Halleluuuuuujer, that I don't have to go across the Lake or to Alameda for groceries. I always been here to buy so many stuff for the restaurant . I would like to notice that your raw meat is't not good. The first time i bought baby back ribs 2 packs when i open the packages the ribs is almost expired the smell is not good. And the second time i bought 2 packs of slide pork buff, when i cut the package and open it, the smell it's so stinky than i try to cook it and the taste so terrible finally i have to throw it away. (It's almost $60 dollars ) I just wanna let's the store know. Plz check your raw meat . read more

The good things are they have a parking lot and it is close to the other Jack London vegetable wholesalers. The bad is they are continually out of stock of items and no one knows when they will replenish their inventory. Special ordered ice cream and never heard bad from them. Oh well! read more

We found this place by accident but was pretty excited to find it. This place has its own parking garage pretty convenient. The place had a ton of options. It's a pretty large store that sells bulk but you don't need a membership. The prices were rock bottom! They also sell a lot of restaurant supply store. Meat was very reasonably priced. Highly recommend trying this store out. read more

There aren't any real grocery stores in JLS but this place is kind of a hidden gem. You can't get everything here but they have some amazing prices. Their produce section is shockingly good. Stuff must gets turned over quick since the produce is fresh. I've been tempted to buy 10# of meat but I haven't taken the plunge yet of prepping that much. read more

#156 I like Cash & Carry. A friend turned me on to this spot for supplies and other things. It is super close by the house and I love it. The employees of this Cash & Carry are pretty awesome too. I went in to grab Whip It canister rechargers for my whip cream maker. The girl helped me locate them right away. I must have accidentally grabbed the soda chargers rather than the whip cream chargers and she noticed immediately. She helped me locate the correct product so I did not waste my time or money. That was cool. The place is clean and neatly arranged and organized. Shopping is easy at Cash & Carry. There were other people that came in as she was helping me, all with questions of their own. This never phased the girl helping me. She could quickly respond to them, and then help me again. #multitasker I was legit in and out in minutes. They have a big parking lot too, of which I did not know at first, so I easily parked on the street. But, next time I know where to park. I like it because they have a good variety of fruits, vegetables, cheese, spices, and sauces, etc. at very good prices. The staff is pretty nice too. And it is right around the corner from home. But since they are wholesale oriented, there are fewer meat options that would work for a two-people household like us, which is a pity. Unless, I guess if we get really good at chopping the huge chunks of meat apart and storing them in smaller portions in the freezer, which is just too much work. We also learned through experience that we should be carefully checking the expiration date on the packaging when shopping there. We bought some pretty premium-looking bacon from the dairy and meat room (not in the freezer). We already ate some before we realized the "use or freeze by" date was already passed by two weeks. It is probably an outlier case, and I will still shop there, but I'm more careful now. read more

I needed to venture out to buy some oranges for a project my family and I were doing. I went to the counter with 3 bags of oranges as it was all I could manage as I am 80 years old. A wonderful checkout clerk asked me why I was not purchasing a case, I told him I could not carry a case of oranges, he said he would help me, not only did he carry the case to the counter but put it in the car for me. His name is Dayon, he was extremely polite and went above and beyond. I so appreciated Dayon and his kindness. Love this store and Thank You Dayon!!!!! read more

Great place to shop when you want to avoid the crowds at Costco. Bulk items, restaurant equipment, take out containers...just a fun place to peruse and get those convenient items. Will definitely come back when i plan that large party! Only drawback is they don't carry fresh produce. read more

I needed paper souffle cups for making a bazillion mini cupcakes. They cost $2 for 100! They had Stash teas for $2! Next time I need 25 lbs of flour I'm there. We went here to pick up a bottle of Orange Torani syrup after someone told us that they carried a zillion flavors. I have been looking for the orange for awhile now and no one has it. We bought a few different flavors since they were so affordable at under $4.00 per bottle. Two summers ago in Kentucky I had my first orange Cremosa. Here's a recipe: Cremosa: Basic Recipe * 2 Tbs flavored syrup * 8 oz club soda * 4 oz half and half or cream Stir together, or serve in layers. To serve in layers, pour the syrup in the glass. Add the club soda, then partially whip heavy cream and float it on top. Now go buy some syrup and try it! PS: the super friendly checkout clerk bothered to look at our bank card and thanked us by name as we left. Not the fake Safeway thank you by name crap. This guy called us by first name! My daughter had to get some baking supplies for her business so this place is very convenient, off the freeway but right now on Oak Street they are doing construction on the road so it took some time to get into the garage. They have an indoor garage to park and it is convenient especially in cold or wet weather. Inside the shelves are neat and the aisles are well lit and labeled. read more

I agree with Victor, I like shopping at Cash and Carry; first, unlike Costco, there's always parking. They take Mastercard. They don't require a business license. The produce is really cheap, if you can eat 50 pounds of potatoes or carrots (I buy it and just give it away, since it's usually less than 10 bucks for that amount). Butter is a great deal. The best is the meat section; large quantities I grant you, but you have the choice between standard and Angus Choice grades, of everything from Chuck Roast and Brisket to Filets... And, sorry, Leslie, but it's way cheaper than Costco. The quantity is the problem, but it's definitely way faster than Costco. I can finish shopping in the time it takes to find a parking spot and walk through the lines! read more

I started coming here more often than restaurant depot since that place has really long lines. This place is designed for small businesses who just want to get in and out. Usually cashiers ring you up quick, unlike restaurant depot since there's so many items people get there. I run a macaron business, and all I need is sugar, butter, eggs and a few other things so it's perfect for me! The carts are much smaller than restaurant depot which is good because I don't need a huge cart for 3/4 items! I'm glad this place is here :) read more

Heaven. I wasn't ever really planning on coming here, until my boss suggested it after me expressing a need for better kitchen supplies. I came in with an intention of buying a lot of bulk baking ingredients and misc. supplies. I left with 150 lbs plus of ingredients and my random misc. supplies for a great price. They had items I didn't know I wanted/needed until I saw them on the shelves. If I had more money and had more need, I'd be here a lot more often. I do enjoy the fact, that as a random person curiously walking around (but actually buying things) they did not seem to care that I was obviously not part of a business. And another plus? sometimes you see bargains here. most times you don't. that sign that says " for businesses only". they don't seem to follow that anymores. baby back ribs: costco had baby back ribs recently for $3.38/lb. C & C had baby back rib "portions" for $2.28. these were not the same quality as costco's these were "miscuts". commonly called #2. not whole slabs but portions of slabs. case pricing here. they worked out quite well. meaty but a tab less fresh. recently, the price was $2.88. some q places are using this cut. i can taste it and see it. if q prices seem too good to be true, it's cuz they found a cheaper alternative. you just don't know of it. read more

As a stay at home mom with 4 hungry kids making us a family of 6. We do everything on a budget and this is one of my favorite places to shop for staples. From produce to Gluten Free flours to meat, I can always find something we need at a great price. The best part is that most of what they carry is not the same brands or products that either the regular or business Costco's a few miles away sell. Just this morning I picked up 15 pounds of bacon for $22. Sure it will last us for months on end but where else are you going to find thick sliced bacon for under $1.50 a pound. Certainly not the local grocery store. The staff is always super friendly as well and parking is never an issue, well finding a parking spot isn't, but watch out cause sometimes people get a little crazy when they are in a rush to get in or out of that parking garage. Oh and did I mention that you don't have to have a business to shop here and no the staff won't look at you like your nuts when you only buy 1 or 2 items or just look around scoping out the good deals. read more
