I gave WOB three stars for this review, because I have had nothing but good experiences at this location over the past year, however this visit deserved one star. I have been to the restaurant/bar multiple times with friends and family and I have always received excellent service and reasonably good bar-style food. My family and friends all readily agree when I suggest this place for an impromptu meal. I like the wide variety of beer available to sample and have found a few that I particularly like that I don't find elsewhere. Unfortunately last night our experience was sadly disappointing at WOB. My family arrived at dinnertime and we were quickly seated but it took a while for our server to show up and when she did it was obvious that she was not happy to be there last night. She was not friendly and quickly took some of our drink orders before diverting her attention to another table. It too her a while to return to get the rest of our drink orders and then even longer to return with napkins and silverware. It took even longer for her to return to take our food order. When our food showed up my wife's order was nowhere to be seen. We waited a few minutes but when her order did not appear the rest of our party started eating. We all finished our meals before my wife's order showed up, totally undercooked with no explanation from our server. We flagged down a manager who somehow immediately knew that my wife's original plate had been delivered by our server to the wrong table and when the kitchen was alerted they decided to expedite an undercooked meal to my wife. The manager took the meal back to the kitchen and nothing happened for 15 minutes. We then called our server over and asked for the bill and my wife's meal to go. We paid and waited at the front desk for her meal but nothing arrived. We again asked the manager and he said it would be 10 more minutes. We said to just box it up as-is and we would take it home. Then we discovered that the kitchen had done nothing on the order for the previous 15 minutes that we had waited. The meal was exactly as it had been delivered to our table. Apparently total miscommunication! This was unacceptable performance on all levels. There was no apology and no credit on our bill. I paid the bill in full and included a 20% tip because I know that every person and every business can have a bad day. I know that tips are shared and there are certainly others in this restaurant that do a good job and work hard for their money. However, I am not sure that we will be going back and that is a shame as there are not a lot of options in the Towne Lake Boardwalk. read more

This is typically my go to spot for a great lunch option. A work colleague was leaving and I suggested World of Beers for the gathering. I spoke with the manager at my lunch visit and easily made a reservation for later in the week. When we arrived, the tables were reserved for us and there were two staff members who consistently checked on us and quickly brought our orders. As our group increasingly expanded, they remained courteous and efficient all night. We took advantage of the happy hour specials for both food and beverages having an assortment of items including chicken wings, cheese curds, French fries with Parmesan cheese, and oversized pretzels. We went on a Monday and tried their burger special and also got a kids meal. It was a nice day, so we sat outside to have a leisurely lunch. The burger was $9.99 and came with fries. You can also customize it with the toppings and cheese. I had mine with truffle aioli! Kids meal was around$7 and came with a kids drink. Burger was huge- 1/3 pound burger and was very good. Fries were nice and hot. My kid's Mac n cheese kids meal came with a side. We ordered fries. It was a decent size and he enjoyed it. Service is a little leisurely and slow outside, so not a place for a quick meal. I would keep that in mind when you eat here. If you are impatient, it is better to eat elsewhere. Thanks to Stevie the wonderful bartender I was able to find some really good craft beers. To accompany these wonderful beers I decided to have the Hot Honey Pepperoni Flatbread. We came here for the Office and Star Wars Trivia nights. The ambiance is nice by the lake and I love the decorations and theme foods they put out for trivia nights. World of Beer is my family's go-to spot. There is a wide variety of food on the menu and all of it is very good. Our favorite item by far is the huge German Pretzel. A couple years ago, we went to Germany and my son decided that he would try all the authentic pretzels and rate them. Well-after a few days he was very disappointed in the cold pretzels in Munich and declared that the best is World of Beer and that Germany should take some pointers! The restaurant can be very loud when busy-to the point you can't hear others at the table. They also have live music at times, which is nice. They used to have Singo on Tuesdays and we were sad when that went away as it was a fun activity my whole family could do together with music crossing generations. The menu is updated fairly often and it seems like everything I love gets eliminated. First it was some crispy Brussels sprouts and recently their Ginger coconut sauce for their Cali Bowl. It's disappointing when my favorite item always goes away. I'm sure it is just bad luck for me. If you go on a nice day, the patio overlooking Towne Lake is nice-you can pretend you are on vacation :) Anyway-like I said-it's my family's go to spot and we'll return. read more

What can I say? It's called the world of beer. Yes, they have a lot of beer. And they are handy with the sample pours too so you can determine what you like. I'm always worried about trying something new as God didn't give me certain things with regards to, specifically, new tastes. When I bought my new build house in Towne Lake, the welcome wagon "gifted" me a free mac n cheese bites appetizer at the World of Beer located at the Boardwalk. Who would know that they'd be serving food, right? Anyway, walked in to the bar today and was greeted by Dani. I handed her my card and played it safe with my beer selection. I was thinking about a burger, but waited to see how the bites turned out. She pointed out the menu to me about the specials for Happy Hour and how that all worked. Then came the bites. OMG did they not disappoint. Even the chipotle aioli, which by itself made these taste buds wiggle a bit initially, ended up being a fantastic compliment to the excellently prepared fried cheese mac n cheese. Dani was excellent in being attentive without being too attentive. She was helpful, friendly, and was today's Ambassador for the WOB brand. Based upon this experience, I will be returning for a 2nd helping. I made sure to meet with the MOD to share my experience that day with Dani and the kitchen staff. I didn't like it. I had the Truffle Burger. It was dry and not worth the money. I'm not a beer guy so I the beer selection is good if you like IPA's or fruit and coffee flavored beers. I picked the one beer I found that wasn't an IPA or infused with something Paradigm brewing Heartland Hefeweizen. It was okay. I also had a Black and Tan. It was also the okay. I wish I would have found this place sooner! As a Buffalo Bills fan in Houston I wanted to find some place nice where I could watch the Bills/Patriots game, have a drink, and get great service. WOB Cypress provided all of that! They had a good number of different NFL games on the various TV's on the Sunday I visited. I was wearing a Bills shirt and as soon as I entered I was greeted by a friendly waitress that shared with me where I could find the TV that had the Bills game on. It appeared that there were fans of multiple teams there watching the various games. They had a regular menu as well as a brunch menu that I appreciated. The food was tasty, the service was amazing, and the place was extremely clean. I highly recommend the pretzel and the cheese! I can't wait to go back for another NFL game. Remember the show "Cheers"? Well, not that I am Aging myself, but WOB is our "Cheers". We love coming to see the "kids" Tim, Matt, Eric, Danielle, Dawson, Allie, and everyone. The first time we came we hit it off. The service is fantastic, the games (we love college sports .. Wreck'em Tech). We were at WOB when the Astros won, and we couldn't have been in a better place to celebrate WOB is in another neighborhood gem. Great for large groups, super cool beer choices (try Tasty AF if you like Reese's). I am not a beer drinker, but my boyfriend is, and he tries different beers, Some smell so delicious like passion fruit or coffee! I am the wine, bourbon, tequila, gin and other lovely happy juice drinker‍ By the way... tequila and pineapple juice is my new go to 2nd drink. But if you like bubbly .... Hubby and I decided to do the $5.00 Monday cheeseburger special. Due to COVID-19 they are only doing take-out. I called my order in then drove there to pick it up. They had a lot of orders waiting to be picked out. That's a good sign! Our burgers were very good and you can choose fries or tater tots; I chose fries. I am not that big of a fan of the chopped lettuce on it but that's was not a deal breaker. The fries were cooked pretty; a little to much salt; again not a deal breaker. Over all - very good. Wouldn't even be able to rate the food or drinks here because we were sat and waited more than 15 minutes and still no one even came over! We were seated in the very back and left there with menus for over 15 minutes - no waters no service. There were about 3-4 servers that walked by multiple times. We tried to get their attention by waiving and even trying to ask but they attended to our surrounding tables and walked off immediately! You would think - no water , sitting here, trying to make eye contact with one of the 3 servers walking by constantly, someone would come .. nope. We did inform the hostess in the front after 15 minutes we were leaving and she did apologize to us and told us we were sat next to big tables so that could've caused some confusion and she was apologetic. Not sure how you mess up a burger but whoever cooked mine made it their mission to give me the driest burger ever... yeah yeah I know I said well done but not like rubber! The cook decided to do their own thing tonight and go off script... for a $14 burger, I was NOT impressed (see pic to be unamused)... sent it back to have them make another one but that one was wrong too.... after a certain point you just stop fighting it :-( Tots were good.. They pick and chose who they sit and allow in the restaurant. My son and I came in today to watch the game. The hostess says there is a 10 min wait but says check the bar. I walk over to the bar and find a table and ask her about it. She says the table is going to another person because I walked over to the bar. A person that walked in after me.
