Likely our new go to for spring training accommodations. A very nice property with a beautiful pool. Golf course views from the back patio are a nice add on to morning breakfast. Beds are comfortable. Our unit had a washer dryer as well as a full kitchen, including a dishwasher.

    Geese on their morning journey.

I wake early and go outside to see flocks of geese fly by.  I like seeing their V shaped formation and the occasion honk.  In the evening they fly by in the opposite direction.  It's relaxing sitting on the patio watching the setting sun as the geese go back to their nesting area. This year we reserved a 1 Bedroom Presidential in the new phase 2 area.  The Presidential is the fanciest option and cost twice as many credits as the standard room.  Ping pong table in the living room.  Huge HDTV in the living room.  I'm guessing over 60".  There is a blu-ray player to the side and an HDMI port you can plug your laptop in.  Huge soaker tub + separate shower.  Last time we had a tub this good was at an expensive Las Vegas condo.  Appliances are high quality.  In the past the appliances tended to be the lowest priced ones you see at Home Depot.  Full size washer and dryer can wash a whole family's clothes.  Usually we had to take turns as the washer/dryer was too small.  What I appreciate most is the new GE fridge side by side fridge model GSS23GMKKCES.  It is big enough to hold my 8 Cooler Shock ice packs plus 8 half gallons of ice cream.  This model has a bit more space than the one I have at home and the water filter provides good tasting chilled water and ice just like at home so I don't need to bring bottled water. Downside to the phase 2 area being open is now the parking in front of the units is full.  The most annoying thing about Worldmark Scottsdale is if you are on the first floor it sounds like thundering herd of cattle are prancing on the ceiling.  The ceiling is insulated enough so you don't hear people talking but walking, running or luggage carts are quite audible.  I brought my HEPA filter to create white noise but even on max I still hear the cattle upstairs.  This being the desert I notice there is a good amount of dust/sand in the air.  You can see it in the air when the angle of the light is right and I notice a bunch forming a dust layer on my laptop.  I feel it on the floors when walking barefoot on the tile floor too. I visited on New Year's Eve and noticed they didn't weather strip/sound proof the front door well as I heard people partying outside as well as people playing cornhole at midnight to celebrate.  Was a bit surprising as it was in the 30's. Staff was friendly and helpful.  Sales staff was nice.  They still give you a limited time offer that expires when you walk out the door but they aren't applying the "you don't love your spouse if you don't buy her credits" pressure. Interesting to see Worldmark going more upscale.  It's hard to justify paying twice as much if they are not going to improve the insulation in the ceiling/floor as the noise level appears the same in all the rooms I've stayed in.  Worldmark is more attractive than most of the hotels I've tried but it's not as quiet as The Palms Las Vegas.

We are avid users of WorldMark and have been since the days going back to TrendWest. We visited the Scottsdale facility soon after opening in the midst of COVID. We opted to for the Presidential Suite on our first visit and upon walking in - wow! - it was amazing! Everything is an upgrade from the standard suites. The center counter in the kitchen has beautiful marble along with the rest of the counter space. All the appliances are high-end GE Profile which includes a great fridge with built-in water and ice dispenser. The utensils, coffee maker, mixer, and everything else is all upgraded over what you get in standard rooms. I don't think there were any plastic cups even. The living room had a huge 55" wall-mount HDTV with a soundbar under it. The couches are comfortable and definitely higher quality of the standard suites. The HDTV sits over a gas fireplace that shares a wall that shows the fireplace on the other side as well. On that side of the room is a ping pong table. Yes, a ping pong table! My family LOVED having this and they enjoyed many games. The guest room had two very nice twin beds. The rest of the room seemed pretty much like what you'd find in a standard suite. The guest bathroom was large and fitted with nicer faucets, sink, and bathtub. The master bedroom was very large with a very nice dresser and two night stands. The HDTV was a bit larger than what you would find in many of the other master bedrooms. The master bathroom was over the top! The tub was a classic French-style tub with crazy nice facet and shower head. Next to that was one of largest shower I have ever seen. You could easily fit four people in it. It came with an overhead shower head in the middle of the ceiling and another variable wall mounted shower head. You could have both on at the same time if you wanted. Completely crazy and fun! All Presidential Suites are on the third floor so the view of the trail and golf course behind you is for a wonderful view. The porch is large and equipped with ceiling fans and excellent furniture. Oh, the fans are the brand Big Ass Fans which are also premium. While the Presidential Suite is pricey in points, in my opinion, it's completely worth it. If you have enough to splurge, do it! Now, we did return a month later to a standard one-bedroom unit which obviously wasn't as plush as the Presidential Suite but to my surprise was very nice as well. There was no big screen HDTV, ping pong, upgrade appliances or a crazy shower but it was still very nice. Oh, real quick, while the shower was huge in the other unit, this was actually one of the smallest showers I've ever been in. I found it ironic that this facility has both extremes for the shower. :) The living room was large and spacious and there was plenty room in the kitchen. There was less counter space than I'm use to at other WorldMark locations but it wasn't too bad. There is also a nice desk to work at next to the porch. Our location looked into the pool area which I enjoyed. The only issues I have with this location is the construction of a retirement community that sits between WorldMark and the street entrance. Because of it, you have to use a small auxiliary road which is easy and confusing to miss your first time in. Further, it blocks the main entrance with fencing and you can't walk easily to the local grocery store and dining that's less than a five minute walk away. As of early March, it looks like they are still a few months away from completion even though all pavement is in. Having seen both extremes of this Scottsdale location, I can say without a doubt that I love it! I have been to the Phoenix WorldMark and while it's really cool with its garages, fairly large unit and being next door to a wonderful hiking area, I prefer Scottsdale. It's right in the middle of everything and once the construction is completed you will be able to walk to dining and grocery store. I've already booked it again!

Worldmark Scottsdale is located off of Indian Bend Road east of Hayden well recessed from the main road. This place is a little tricky in a sense that the property is well away from the street sort of behind a corporate park. Currently as I write this (mid November 2019) there is a lot of construction going on surrounding the property both to the north close to Indian Bend as well as east of the existing property where there are what appears to be two additional structures being erected as additions. My mother who is the Worldmark owner made these reservations months ago. Only a few days prior was she notified that there was construction going on as a heads up. Not that it would have really changed our mind but as I read some of the other reviews it seems like this construction has been going on for quite some time. As a courtesy to be notified that there is construction and that there would be some inconvenience, that's understandable and for the most part visitors will cope with the additional traffic and noise. The notification was that work would begin as early as 7am. Well I can safely say that work or not noise did start before 7am local time and even as early as 6am. Our unit was very close to where much of the construction was taking place which was at the east side of the facility, not far from the west side of the pool. Again, the noise being what it is (construction) didn't really bother us that much as we were no Eastern time and eastern time just prior to daylight savings changes so biological clock wise, we were 3 hours off as opposed to 2 for the most part. Arizona doesn't change time and the day we arrived the difference was 3 hours but that evening it switched to 2 hours difference from eastern relevant to mountain time. The check in for us was late (11pm) so we didn't get our parking pass till the following day. We arrived on a Saturday night and relaxed on the Sunday staying local to recuperate a bit because later in the week we'd be taking long drives to other parts of the state. The room we received although it officially slept 4 had a single bedroom and a pull out sleeper. For a pull out it was actually comfortable. Of course the unit is not that large so the coffee table was placed permanently to the side for our stay because we had to use the pull out every evening. The kitchen area didn't have a dish washer or oven. It was only a single counter with a small sink, coffee machine and microwave. There was a stove top but we never used it. Typically we're used to having full kitchens. The fridge was a mini fridge under counter size so we had to economize what we were going to put in the fridge as far as drinks etc. The pull out had to be covered with sheets and blanket that were in the main entrance closet. There was only a single pillow in there so we had to ask housekeeping for a few more. This was a disabled unit so the bathroom was large and had a tub and shower (separate). For the most part the unit was satisfactory. Between the counter and couch was small round table. I can't see how a wheelchair could fit between this table with chairs to get to the sink, fridge. Overall the unit was undersized for a "sleeps 4" unit. It would have been nice to have 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen instead of what we received. The pool is a huge plus for this location. There was a day where there wasn't any towel covers on the poolside loungers and I ended up going to the front desk to get some for us. The pool and hot tub were well kept. The staff at this location were as far as I'm concerned, very friendly and helpful when we needed anything.

Where do I begin to share the story of how long our week (would be) or really was. Well let me start by saying, the minute we walked into the lobby -- it becomes a minefield; yet I will tell you, it can be navigated -- you are the target of their desire to SELL you a Timeshare. The sales pitch occurred each time I entered the lobby to get ice or a soda or my own clean set of towels. I even left my phone off as messages were left constantly piling up inviting us to breakfast or lunch to view the property and receive a Visa. No thanks. As we headed over to our room, I was even more aware of the construction banging going on as we headed to our room. When we first entered, I saw that the staff left us a birthday box of chocolate and wished my partner: Happy 60th birthday. I never gave her age and she's still in her 50's. Where did 60 come from? I never gave an age. Ahhhhh -- our room; Let me tell you. It looked absolutely nothing like the photos on the website. Even more, unbeknownst to us, we were placed in a handicap room with absolutely NO VIEW and a wide LONG HALL. (See pics). The refrigerator was the smallest fridge I think I've ever had in any room I've stayed in! (This is why I had to go to the lobby for ice.) It looked like one from an RV! And of course being it was a handicap room, it came with an extra large bathroom (it had a shower and a bath tub on either side). It also had a super wide hall, which cut down on the space for the living room area and especially the kitchen. Thank God it came with a comfortable bed it was the only saving grace of the place. There was a back patio with seating; but it was totally unusable due to the loud construction right outside our door. Furthermore, to make matters more interesting, the door doesn't lock from the outside without a metal key (which was not given to us). So as a result, unless one person hangs back at the room, you both have to walk clear around the entire complex to get to the pool area to the gym; whereas it's a straight shot if you go from the patio. But this leaves all your items unlocked! Then there's the fact that this was a handicap room! To my surprise, there were no ramps going up the sidewalk for a wheelchair or a moped to get up onto the sidewalk to access the room except way down on the opposite end. Hmmm, I wonder if maybe that was because the model for the timeshare was at that end. Then to top it all off, I called earlier to say we wanted a "quiet" location; I was assured our room was far from the construction. NOT! We unfortunately were right by it; and the hammers commenced at 7:00 A.M. sharp. Even their brochure states that it would be quiet before 8:00 A.M. (see pics) There were some friendly staff people, I will grant you that; and they did offer to change our room if one came available. But by the time we returned from our day out, not much was left. Then one lady in particular at the front lobby got offended when I told her for the third time I just wanted enjoy my vacation and not be bothered about the timeshare. I admit that when she asked me for the 3rd or 4th time if I wanted to attend the breakfast, I finally just said, "no"; Instead of explaining the reasons why. Her response was: Well all righty then! This to me is confusing... I had said that I already own two timeshares. They would try to tell me why this one was so much better. Why can't I come and use my timeshare without being hounded to upgrade constantly and just relax (even with all the workers) because I need a vacation without being pressured to buy more another one. Crazy. I meant no offense, but come on. And yes there were workers on the grounds every day. As one enjoyed the beautiful sparkling (chilly) pool or went to the gym like I did every day, I had to pass by construction workers and or workers that were putting in a new lawn and bean bag toss game. I guess my fantasy dream vacation was not met by this location whatsoever. My partner's neither. The bed was great and The pool was another saving grace but it would've been better maybe at some other time, we just didn't hit it right and I don't think I'm gonna hit it ever again.

During Easter weekend, I came out here to run a half marathon and to visit an old friend. It was a rather last minute decision for me to make this trip. Fortunately for me, I was able to score a studio hotel room while waiting on the wait list on such short notice. When I arrived, there were still construction taking place for the Revel Scottsdale senior living/retirement community, so the entrance from off of Indian Bend Rd was a bit obscure even though there were WorldMark signs. Prior to coming here, I had checked on Google Maps, so I knew where to turn. The lady that checked me in was very nice and courteous. The concierge got me to attend an owner update. I usually try to refuse those as I normally have better things to do then to sit through another hour plus long sales pitch. They gave me a Tango gift card for my time. My room was nice and clean. It came with all of the amenities that I needed for the weekend. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable. This location was convenient as there were plenty of nearby stores and restaurants. They're close enough to be considered walking distance.

Some of those are disclosed in the listing, while some are not. That should have been our first warning sign to find another property, but we decided to be patient and give things a try. We didn't have to wait long for things to go south. In full disclosure, we didn't report all of the issues below during our stay because we got tired of continually dealing with the host. This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, and this property and the hosts made it anything but. Just go take a look at their responses to some of their reviews if you want to get an idea of the type of hosts you're dealing with (can anyone say condescending?). Check-in: Showed up promptly at 4:00 and the door code didn't work. Called the host's customer service number - no answer. They text us back saying they can't speak and to text them. I let them know the issue. They say the code we received is the same one they have. Nothing for about 20 minutes. I finally contact the host directly and they give me the correct code which they say was changed recently. So now we're 35 minutes late getting into the house after driving 11 hours, and we have a car full of groceries as we stopped at the store before checking-in because early check-in will cost you $300. Pool: We stayed 5 nights in mid-February, so paid the $300 a night fee for the propane pool heater. The pool heater was never turned on before we arrived and the pool and. spa were somewhere in the high 50s. We inform the host, someone comes out and turns on the heat and says everything will be up to temp in a day. The next day the spa is up to 85 degrees and the pool is still somewhere in the 60s. Turns out the propane tank ran out! They have a 120 gallon tank that can only be filled to 80% (96 gallons) and the propane heater uses about 5 gallons an hour according to the propane delivery guy that had to show up twice to refill the tank during our stay. The pool temp was up and down throughout our stay as the propane heater kept running out of fuel and the electric heater can't keep up in the colder weather. Also, the heater will only heat the spa or the pool, but not both at the same time. There is a separate hot tub that we were not told about until a few days into the stay that smelled musty. Cleanliness: Shower curtain liners were filled with mold or mildew.A child in our party found a fake eyelash in their bed. We stripped our beds at the end of our stay (as you typically do at any other VRBO we've stayed at), and I wish we hadn't because there isn't enough soap in the world to make me feel clean again. Several of the pillows had mold/mildew on them, and the mattress in one of the master suites was covered in stains, including mysterious large yellow stains. The mattress in the other master suite was only slightly better. The host's checkout instructions tell you not to strip the beds. I wonder why? General: All of the furniture in this property is CHEAP. Most of the mattresses are so soft that they're uncomfortable. A full-sized pool table is crammed between the kitchen and living room, and you can't even play properly because the table is too close to the wall. There was something about a ping pong table in the listing, but that was no where to be found. The handle for the shower faucet in one of the master bathrooms was missing. The interior door handle on one of the secondary bedrooms was not secured to the door. The exterior steps and walls around the property all have bricks that were not secured. One person from our party slipped when the bricks leading to the back door came out from under their feet and scraped his leg. Later in the stay, one of the kids had the bricks come out from under them on the steps to the hot tub. The bricks on the wall surrounding the sports courts were also found to be loose when someone leaned on the wall. Avoid this property and host like the plague. Despite the hosts constant reminders of how much this property costs and that only 1% of the population can afford this property, this is at best a subpar house barely worthy of 2.5 starts if there weren't any issues. I'm sure the host will clap-back with a snarky and BS response saying how we were horrible quests, or that we're too poor/low class, that their property is amazing and none of this ever happened........so for your viewing pleasure you can check out the reel of our experience at this dump on Instagram @VRBOHorrorStories. Enjoy!
