Job was done in a timely manner by some very nice guys. These guys know there stuff in and out. The only thing you trade off on for the better price is the waiting area is not too clean. It is most likely expected that regulars drop off their vehicle for service. No loaner vehicles, but the price makes it an acceptable trade off. read more

Absolutely the best shop i have ever been to. I have a 2006 BMW M5 that needed some maintenance. Job that would have kept my car in a shop all day, they did in 3hrs. and for about 1/3 of the price the dealer would have charged me. Just the way they talk(anyone who works there), you understand immediately that they know what they are doing. Oil change, air filters, all belts and pulleys plus a light bulb in left headlight. Amazing is also that they had all parts in stock. Btw Sharret Automotive told me they can't do the belts and pulleys because the car is too complicated. Do not let the looks of their building mislead you, these guys are masterminds. Highly recommend this place. Going back there next week for some more maintenance. read more

We had the misfortune of blowing out the serpentine belt on 70 between DC and Pittsburgh. The 2001 BMW overheated and exploded the resevoir as well. We were lucky enough to be within about a mile of Worthington. They squeezed us right in and had everything needed but the resevoir in stock. So we rented a car to complete our trip and came back the next weekend to pick it up. I got several phone calls keeping me updated on the car. These guys were very knowledgeable and a lot more affordable than a dealership or anything local to DC. They understood that it was an 11 year old car and didn't try to scare me into unnecessary work. They fixed the glaring issues and got me back on the road. And then a few weeks later they called again to make sure the car was running properly. A+ service. The building was a story by itself. There's no sign on this converted civil war era barn. And there's no running water inside. Take a few minutes to walk around and see all the old and foreign cars sitting around the property; there's some really cool stuff. read more

I live 4 hours away and found Worthington thru a yelp search as I was in need of a pre-sale inspection on a w123 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel I was purchasing off Craigslist in Haggerstown MD. I called the office and it turned out, not surprisingly, they had been servicing this car for the previous owner. Roger the owner told me he would look it over and give me his honest opinion and with permission of owner was happy to provide all previous service records to me. He's been working on these Mercedes for close to 50 years. He found one major issue and a few minor problems. I bought the car at a fair and reduced price and drove it back to NY. Roger was an absolute professional to deal with and offered great advice on moving forward with my purchase. He made himself available by phone to answer all my technical questions and helped me arrange a weekend pick up when they were closed. I like Worthington so much I might have to find a way to drive back for any major repairs. This is what a foreign auto repair shop should be, one of the last of the great shops. He will retire soon he says... head over there while he's still around. read more

Wothington Auto is simply put the best at what they do and that is repairing/fixing; mercedes benz, bmw, porsche, other european makes, and many other manufacturers. The men who fix your car are experts. They have decades of experience. They are honest and they are fair. Their labor rate(s) are a fraction of what, as an example, Mercedes Benz dealers charge, and they can do more in one hour than (and I am using my six decades of automobile experience) the dealer. Why you ask? They don't have the overhead and they have loyal and repeated customers. They work out of a vintage, and very large, barn and keep in stock or can have it delivered to me in a few hours all the parts your car needs. CAUTION - this is a true repair shop...period. Thus there is not a fancy waiting room. But, you can drop your automobile off, either during business hours (M-F from 9-5) or after hours. They will call you with the repair estimates and there are no "surprises" when you get there. They stand by their word and their estimates. I have been the GM for some of the largest automobile manufactures in the world. My review here is based not only as an automobile owner but also as one with a lifetime of expertise in the automobile profession. Hence I would never recommend them, nor anyone else, unless they met or exceeded my stringent criteria. They most certainly do. I know that if you give them a chance you will find that everything I stated herein is true. Lastly, I asked a few "exotic automobile owners" who were picking up their car(s) and asked them "how did you find out about this place" and "why isn't there a larger online presence"? They answered "word of mouth" and "we like to keep our little gem a secret". I know that to be true because I found out about them by recommendation. Roger is the most knowledgeable Porsche mechanic I've come across in the 10 years I've owned a 911. I went to Roger after the first shop I hired didn't solve the problem. It took Roger less than 60 seconds to find it and point to it. He had to hold that original mechanic's hand to show them how to do it and they finally fixed my 911 the right way. I hired Roger again to bring the car back to life; I had been out of state for an extended period of time and he delivered it in perfect working order. Sadly, circumstances forced me to move home to Oregon and I miss Roger as both a mechanic and as a pleasant and top-notch professional. As other reviewers have said, do not let the appearance of the shop cloud your judgment, Roger will take you on a tour of the barn if you ask and there is all sorts of fascinating history. I don't know how Roger became such an expert in so many makes of vehicles but he is the best. read more

After spending 4k dollars on a top end rebuild that was estimated at 2500.00 and a promised 4 week turn around that turned into 7 weeks.... They do not record the promised by date [required by law] having researched parts prices for the major components [and even allowing a mark up] I was billed 145.00 for a belt that max should cost 49.00... The coolant system was not properly bled of air [and my pickup date was delayed the 2nd time so they could do such post repair odds and ends] and an incorrect thermo-stat had been installed [part number does not cross reference to any OEM or aftermarket spec piece] My rocker panels [area below a door] were crushed. I wasn't sure they had done it until I took the car in for a follow up because of the horrendous amount of oil loss, that 3 weeks after pick up caused a hard start and loosened a clinch clamp on the torque shaft, they did not jack the car up by the proper jack points... My timing belt cover was replaced with one that does not fully protect the belt [there is a upgrade for the water pump and later model parts/upgraded parts are available] The cylinder head gasket leaks oil into the area of the timing belt [I had been told the first time pickup was delayed because they wanted to make sure this very thing wasn't going on] and to top it off. I was billed labor for parts installed as if those parts were installed by themselves [for instance when Your having your water pump replaced..lets say it takes 5 hours to do...a mechanic must remove in a simple case, your drive belts, timing chain.... so there should not be ANY labour to go ahead and replace those parts that MUST be removed to get access to the required part [this was mandated by the repair industry billing practices and various other bodies].. My guess is, because I bought that vehicle from a friend of theirs, it didn't deserve to be handled like it belonged to a paying customer. The work required on the cylinder head/timing and some of the components where not some I wanted to tackle myself, being an old hand at knuckle banging, I'm not to proud to say.. I didn't want to try even If I had the time to put it aside and do it myself. Having grown up in a car environment, becoming a GM tech, AV Installs etc I never could empathize with people that were terrified of taking their car into a shop... I did however find a Porsche/Foreign Car shop that treats me well, nursed me thru the anxiety left over by these guys, when I ask a question they don't respond like I have some nerve to ask and I definitely don't feel like their treating Me like dirt while squeezing me for every last cent I have. I was in tough spot during that period, transitioning to this area, the job I moved to the area for fell thru, My Personal business was suffering because clients were being relocated out of MD/DC. and I had to take a less then desirable job to keep things going.... My advice to any current customers..look over your invoices..search the internet for a few random parts, you shouldn't have paid more than a few dollars on top of the price You find on the net [shops pay a little less than what the MSRP is and tack on a profit, thats pretty standard]. Look up repair procedures..most manufactures have repair time estimates based on an what time it takes an AVG adequately trained tech to do the job, and what parts are recommended to be replaced while performing that task.. regardless if a shop is a dealer or indie that is what they should be charging... If your looking for an import shop..go east, or south there are much more modern affordable shops around.. The new clients I have, when they request I take their german/english car in for service....I drive right by Worthington's into Frederick Co or Howard Co read more
